My memory is so so so bad, you probably wouldn't believe me. It's... trust me, very bad. idk if it's that it's just selective or what, but there are things I can't remember at all (nicknames, faces, names, birthdays, plans for stories, animal classification, so many, many things).

Ahaha, the two columns thing was actually suggested by my first beta (of NEG, actually!) -- I adopted it because it didn't make much of a difference from what I was already doing. I really don't fill out everything I should at all. (Anghraine, instead, plans family trees three generations back and three ahead, analyses every character's personality by two systems, sorts them into houses, defines them physically, etc etc -- knowing this may be informing my view of my outlines being basic!)

I totally took the dance out. I... actually don't remember why I wanted it there, and re-reading older versions of NEG (& outlines) makes me squirm in embarrassment, so I don't want to look. I should work more on the ending! I'm past the part I really wanted to write (arguments!) and already on the awkward and romantic bits of the last 3 chapters, and those are the hardest for me. I always feel like such a fool writing that stuff.

Re: trying weird structure things... Myself, I did it in that case, I think, to have something to focus on apart from the fact that I had to write dubcon. Or attempt to, anyway. Short stories come harder for me, too -- one has to be so much more careful with phrasing, so much more potent with it -- so having something to lean on, something strict, helped me. You've to take into account that all I know about writing I learned (learn) in fandom -- I never took a creative writing class, and so I've no techniques, no craft to lean on. Pretty much everything I do is try stuff out and hope very hard it works.

I love the shape, btw! And the all the structures you describe in your post seem to me to make sense and fit with the story. I don't think you need an excuse to try that out...
