Right, that's interesting! There was a period in which I was reading a lot of period romance novels, and they have a Shape as well, but imo it's a more traditional shape. I think part of the singularity of the Typical Fic is the fact that you can have such a preponderance of short fiction. Obviously, short stories exist, but I think romance-with-hot-sex-short-stories are rarer in original fic than fanfic.
