I don't think so, either. I think a part of herself would always love him--and possibly a part of herself would not. I think that would horrify Buffy, because she once loved him with every fiber of her being.

And yes, the words on the page, the shape of them breathing in and breathing out, tapering and growing, dying and being reborn.

Then again, I think all of us do. The way I envision the idea of "self" is like the idea of soul--not something that's corporeal. Anyway my mind gets boggly thinking about it, and that's why I like fic.
