This covers a lot of ground, philisophically, in a short period of time. I'm not sure, either how the different parts go together right away. But reading nothing by you is a waste.
Ooh, the food thing is good, I like your evocation that cloying aspect of the service industry--the syrup (or in my case, salad dressing) in weird places you can't figure out. I always hated working with food; I don't eat many varieties of it anyway, and it always bothered me to be feeding people stuff I wouldn't eat myself. Really brings it back to me.
I also like the physical format of this piece, the widening and narrowing of the lines was pleasing, although it sounds like a really funny thing to say.
The dialogue here rubbed me wrong somehow: "Wake the fuck up, Anne, you airhead, I could have you replaced like that, what, you think you’re the only gal in here, you’re no different from the rest of them by Christ . . .”
Maybe the commas made it read uncomfortably for me.
But I think there's a lot to think about here. Thanks.
