0. I prefer B/A, but Bangel doesn't bother me. Not any more than the other smooshed name combos. Thing is, B/A could be Buffy/Angel or Buffy/Anya or Buffy/Andrew. Not that I've heard of a folks writing the later two, but I'm sure someone is.
1, 2 and 3. I guess I need to re-watch season 1, as I don't have an opinion one way or another.
4. Really? I love it. Heck, I make a point in a fic of Buffy describing the way he says her name - and it's a positive thing.
5. Well, sure. Can't disagree. Cheesy, but my romantic heart still likes it.
6. I want to meet your mom. *g*
7. Agreeing with other folks about the parallel of the two relationships and the foreshadowing of the unworkableness of it. Also, I like it because it shows a truth that Angelus hates - that he loves Buffy. It fits with his reaction at the fountain. With the way he has a million opportunities to kill Buffy and doesn't. With his desire to turn the world into hell, which he didn't express before. The only way Angelus knows how to kill Buffy without killing Buffy, which he doesn't seem to be able to do and he'd hate himself for being unable to do, is take out the whole world.
8. Tiny bit cheesy, mostly hot. Very hot. True confessions, there are be T'ai Chi and references to Angel in the fic I'm working on.
9. Love the magical snow. Plus, I can believe their mellowness. It's an eye of the storm. Things have been crazy, things will be crazy, but in this moment, it's calm and pure and needs to just be.
10. Started rewatching season 3. ::happy place::
11. Mmm, chain fic. *g*
12. Good points. Still love it and get all fangurl veklempt watching it. Which, to quote Joyce, is my way of saying, "Nah, nah, nah-nah, nah." *g*
13. In my opinion, Angel is the king of compartmentalizing his feelings, thoughts, memories, etc. Doing so would be how he'd deal day to day with a soul and memories of everyone he'd killed. How he put off craziness while underwater for as long as he did. So to me it didn't seem odd that he'd put his feelings in a box about Connor and Cordelia and enjoy this brief moment with Buffy before returning to grief.
14. Post original airing, rahirah had a post explaining the genre of the piece. Within that lens, it works. But yes, the "I signaled her with my eyes" is cringe worthy.
Numbering, part 2: 1. Word.
2. a2zmom's recent trilogy has a well done use of Buffy asking a question that spooks Angel about what Buffy knows and lying to her. I also think it can work as an issue in future fic. If Angel and Buffy are together, does Angel owe it to Buffy to tell her what he did in the past? But, yeah, overused and frequently misused.
3. Guilty of using the claddaugh in a fic. I like to believe its context it makes sense - with only a small side of cheese. *g*
4. By the end of the series, Buffy and Angel are each so Alpha, I can't imagine either letting that go, even in the bedroom. That's part of the fun. *g* Shrinking violet Buffy? Does not compute.
5. Word.
6. I'm relieved to hear this. I wrote a fic where it didn't even cross my mind to have either Buffy or Angel say "I love you" until after I'd posted the completed story. I've sorta wondered if I overlooked the obvious in not having either say it, but between your comments and others, I'd agree, it's all about the fact they know it so deeply, they say it in ever look and touch.
7. I don't mind someone using the term soulmate, but it isn't a magic word that negates other relationships that they've had. To me it's more like acknowledging two magnets that will always pull toward the other.
8. Word. I have yet to find a convincing fic that's B/Aus. One or both become too OOC for my tastes.
