I don't assume she's dumb, but I do assume she doesn't like to use her brain in particular ways.
I always thought that if she did get into literature, she'd be more into modern/post-modern stuff than classics before that. Because they're quirky, like her. And because she had "Waiting for Godot" right on the tip of her tongue waiting for a quip.
But I can see her coming to appreciate poetry and those particular sonnets especially.
