4. Lots of people love it. He just sounds like a complete doofus to me.
6. She's great, ain't she?
7. Agreeing with other folks about the parallel of the two relationships and the foreshadowing of the unworkableness of it.
Yeah, that makes me like it so much better.
Also, I like it because it shows a truth that Angelus hates - that he loves Buffy. It fits with his reaction at the fountain. With the way he has a million opportunities to kill Buffy and doesn't. With his desire to turn the world into hell, which he didn't express before. The only way Angelus knows how to kill Buffy without killing Buffy, which he doesn't seem to be able to do and he'd hate himself for being unable to do, is take out the whole world.
Interesting. I had trouble, at first, believing Angelus loved Buffy at all, but I changed my opinion when I ruminated harder on the differences between Angel/Angelus, it was the only thing that made sense. Still, I have trouble believing Angelus loved her in any way that wanted to preserve her. His love for her (imo) was completely destructive.
8. Tiny bit cheesy, mostly hot. Very hot. True confessions, there are be T'ai Chi and references to Angel in the fic I'm working on.
Yay! I was planning on putting it into the WIP I'm doing.
10. S3 is one of my, if not the, very favorite seasons ever.
11. Yeah, there should be more of it.
13. Compartmentalizing makes sense--except that there are times when Angel just can't DO it, like in AtS S2. a2zmom's theory was he just wanted it to be like it was 7 years ago again, which does make so much sense.
14. I'd like to read the essay. I feel like I understand the genre; it was meant to be a sort of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern thing, right? They just didn't pull it off, imo. The Zeppo was in the same genre and worked much better.

2. I thought the same thing about a2zmom's fic, Happy (Baby Won't You Keep Me)--or else I would've let her know and try to make her ditch it, as I was her beta on that one. But the way a2zmom handles it is subtle and elegant. It makes sense. It's not there just to be there.
3. Same with the rings as with above. They can be used and be used well. chrisleeoctaves did a brillaint fic not too long ago in which Buffy was wearing hers on a chain at the very end and it was just so beautiful and heart-wrenching. But oft times, it's: "OMG, Claddagh rings, that means we're secretly married!!!", which is fine, just not my cuppa.
6. Link? I love that you didn't realize until after you were finished that they hadn't said it. To me, that says you were writing them in character.
