I miss worth_500. Each week a screen cap from BtVS, Angel, and FF were posted and folks would write 500 word stories. It didn't get a lot of traffic, but for me it created three different stories, including this one, that took on a life of its own. Getting into Connor's head helped me to understand him and find him a much more sympathetic character.
