Both masturbatory and practice for real writing. One of the best short stories I ever wrote came out of something I was playing with in fanfic. But sometimes I go on writing things I know I'll never use, and I just do it for fun.

I meant that I've probably been doing too much fanfic (or at least, fandom related activity) enough so that's it's affecting things I should be doing in RL. As you said, that's not of the good.

But. It's better to masturbate than hate. heh heh heh yeah I need to shut up.
