I'm pleased you like the idea behind this--for the particular endings to NFA I was considering I wasn't interested in 5 distinct possibilities, but rather...each scenario like the faces on dice. Except one die with 5 faces. I'm also glad you liked the language...I did feel that it got a little dense at times, but it was fun to play with.

I think I see what you mean about the characterization, though that's something I hadn't thought of before. Some of the imagery/thoughts associated with Buffy in particular, I think, are things I wouldn't attribute to her character. I'd hoped that bouncey, semi-omnicient third person would allow me to say some things about the characters' situations that you wouldn't normally associate with them, but what you say about the characters inhabiting these words and images--I think you're right, and it's an interesting insight to bring to the next thing I try like this.
