Malfunction? If the story's not good, I say again: why bother trying to fix it? If it is excellent and without fault: what is there to fix? I'm with you; the fics I want to discuss are good--which means I like them--but may have some problem or other. For me, there are some other criteria I pile on top of that, such as liking the person and knowing for sure they want con crit, but the core of it is liking the fic and wishing it was better.
