One reason why I enjoy reading your journal, because you get into that. But I think a lot of give-and-take is required from...critter...and crittee for that type of discussion to happen: con critters can display the same sort of sensitivity authors have about their written words in a public space.
I do also think that by the time a fic is posted, it's finished. Because otherwise there would never be an end to revising! It's like video editing, the details you notice get smaller and smaller, and as we all know, smallness is infinite. (Incredible Shrinking Man reference). But the better the crit, the more difference it makes to the next fic.
