Cool! You're the first person I've ever talked to who's read it. I picked it up because I saw there was a movie of it, and it was super cheap. I thought I'd read it before the movie, because lately I've been doing that the other way around. When I started reading it I had no idea what it was about, and then a little ways in I read the summary on the back and went, "...whoa." I've never read a 19th c. novel that addressed that particular social concern; all of them I've read so far have been about the poor.
