Yeah, one of the things I love to play with with Angel is his clothes/hair obsession, because you'd think someone so guilty over his past and so eager for redemption wouldn't be thinking about how his hair might look. But the first thing he says to Whistler, when he's seen Buffy and decided he's going to be a new man? Is about what he's going to wear while he's doing it. I think it's less because he's a vampire and more because he thinks lookin' good is part of the gig. When he's not trying to be Someone--say in NYC before he meets Buffy--he also doesn't try to look like Someone.
