I think I'm just wondering why. I understand why dialogue is stylized. I have both heard and seen realistic dialogue, and it's boring as hell.
The thing about the facial expressions, is I don't so much have a problem with the author telling us or showing us what's on a character's face. It's the other characters being able to interpret those expressions so well.
To me that's a bit of stylization that doesn't seem necessary. But I really enjoy it, so go figure!
