There were amusing parts to this fic, but in a way that only made the rest of it more heartbreaking.
Please don't get me wrong - I *adored* it. The characterisations were excellent and I can really see them letting things get that hopeless for them. I hope they can come out the other side.
Oh, but it felt so much like Spike and Angel were giving up. They seem lost and hurt, and almost...creepy. That's probably not the right word, but it's as if they're more acutely aware than ever that they are dead. Maybe the knowledge of Gunn being a vampire is making it worse.
Anyway, I'm babbling. I really hope that I've managed to convey how much I liked this: it truly made me ache, and it takes a lot to draw a prolonged emotional response from a reader. Well done.
