Once again, I'm looking for someone to beta The Way Down.

Someone who can Brit pick would be nice.

There are 9 chapters, 4 of which have been posted and beta'ed, leaving 5 chapters at around 45 K. (The fic is finished.) I'm looking to get a chapter per week beta'ed, but really at this point it would just be nice to get it beta'ed at all. A chapter every two weeks? Who knows?

If you can't help, do you know who I can ask, or how to make this job sound appealing in any way, or whether other people have trouble getting betas, or whether they find not having one as depressing and oh-my-god-no-one-likes-me as I do, or whether I should just not bother, or why this is so hard?

All of the people who have helped me out have been wonderful, btw. They just have other things going on in real life, which I completely understand.

I'm thinking about not having it beta'ed at all at this point, but the ending is really bad, and I wish I could ask someone about it. Also my Americanisms hurt me. I don't really know what to do.

Also, I'd be happy to beta this if you haven't found someone at a comm. I'm American, though, and my only Britpicking credentials come from trying to root the Americanisms out of my own HP fic over the years, so not sure how helpful this offer is. ;)

I suck at the two journals thing too. Really, I'd just like to move all the way to DW, but I'm enough of a whore that the small amount of traffic and comments I get does sad things to my self esteem. Bahaha I'm pathetic.

I didn't know you'd done hp, too! I'll have to look at some.

If you're really interested, the ending to this story sucks, but I would need someone to read all of it to help me with the end. Someone I don't know (but who seems totally cool) already volunteered to do this, but I'd be interested in your comments too. But again, that would mean reading this big long fic and it might not be your thing so I don't want to rope anyone in. If you like, you can read the first chapter or so and let me know. But like I said, I already found someone else, so no pressure.

Yeah, in an undefined way I want to move to DW, but I'm not doing so well at it. Checking my LJ flist has been a habit for many years, and I have my reading filters just how I want them there, and I haven't gotten used to reading on DW. Which is all a long way of saying that I'm giving up and adding you to my LJ so I have a chance of reading your entries in a timely manner.

It's been a while since I wrote in HP...I was pretty disappointed in the last couple books, and my intense love for it has cooled. I mainly wrote Remus/Sirius and occasionally Harry/Snape or Harry/Draco. Much of it is up on my AO3 account, but I haven't been great about archiving.

And I'd be happy to read your fic and weigh in on the ending. Honestly, I have a lot of down time at work (long boring story) and I've found that reading/writing/editing are very effective ways of making it look like I'm working without actually working. You can send to bowdlerized at gmail.
