Generally, presence of the Oracles in a fic is a sign of badness ensuing...

She didn't remember how she got it. She thought Riley must have slipped her some drug and raped her. MaleOracle: Die Riley die! Angel: Even though he didn't even do anything? FemaleOracle: Shut up and go have lots of sex with Buffy at our behest. Angel: If you say so.
Yeah. I think one of the problems I have with IWRY is all the bad!fic spawned from it.
I do find him disappointing for his tendency to bite off bigger chunks of story than he could chew
Yes, but he's also capable of biting off great big chunks and delivering. I'd rather he bite off big chunks and fail sometimes than never bite off big chunks at all. And that metaphor is getting seriously wonky.
