From my sister-in-law to you:

How often do you change your bio?
How do you use tags? No, this one's not you personally. I really don't get how to use them or what they're for.
How do you get to your journal—is it in your favorites? Is the link there your “recent entries” page, your user page, or your “my lj” page, or what?
Why do you have yourself friended?
Do you ever have trouble finding the button to click to add someone’s post to your memories?
How often do you check your flist to see if someone’s added you?
Do you feel it’s impolite to have long conversations with someone on someone else’s journal?
Do you get annoyed when someone makes a comment just to correct a grammatical error, or makes a comment that’s only one word, or seems pointless to you?
How do you spell the gerund form of rec and beta?
General fandom
What did they use to put the tattoo on David Boreanaz’s back? Do you think they worried about getting it in the same place every time? And who gets the job of applying it, anyway?
Did David Boreanaz ever have a back double?
How tall is Nicholas Brendon? Okay now, how tall is he for real?
Am I the only slathering B/A fangirl who doesn’t think much of the episode IWRY?
Are there any fics out there about Anne (formerly Lily, formerly Chantarelle)?
Did anyone besides me really love Kate Lockley?
What DVD commentary do you like the best?
What’s J. Augest Richards doing these days? Alexis Denisof?
Joss Whedon
Why do some people hate Joss Whedon?
Whatever happened to the Ripper spin off?
Is there even the remote possibility of a Faith spin-off?
Is there even the remote possibility of the cartoon?
Did Serenity make enough money, or not?
I want someone explain comic books to me. I was really into X-men comics in preteen years, but one of the reasons I kind of dropped it was because I got confused (also, I got too tall to be comfortable sexing up with Wolverine and realized I would never have boobs like Rogue's. When you're 11, you still want boobs like Rogue's, even though you figure out by 12 NO ONE has boobs like Rogue's. Or even wants boobs like Rogue's, because ugh, back pain). There seemed to be so many different series all going on at once; I couldn't keep them straight. I didn't get the difference between Uncanny, Astonishing, and Amazing. Isn't there like . . . a diagram for these things?

I do feel that it's somewhat impolite to have an extended, off-topic, conversation in someone else's LJ - especially if the host isn't involved. One could probably move that to private email or one's own LJ... That said, I'm something of an impolite man, and I violate this bit of etiquette with some regularity.

I'm not a slathering fangirl, but I'm also not huge on IWRY. It has a few good scenes, and some decent concepts. But not much follow through, considering it should be a big deal. And the sadness that basically - it's the happiest most content moment of Buffy's life and she doesn't remember it. There are some positive things, in retrospect as series' progressed. But at base, Morah is lame, and the Oracles suck and they should never have been introduced. Generally, presence of the Oracles in a fic is a sign of badness ensuing...

I don't hate Whedon, but I do find him disappointing for his tendency to bite off bigger chunks of story than he could chew and for how he delegated story. Exhibit A being BtVS-7 which really failed to deliver on what was a decent concept. Because I work for the Navy, and when the boat sinks you blame the captain. And S7 was Joss' ship, and it sank. Hard.

That's exactly my problem with it.
Morah is lame, and the Oracles suck
Well, and this.
Generally, presence of the Oracles in a fic is a sign of badness ensuing...
FemaleOracle: You should be with Buffy because you're soul mates.
MaleOracle: So we're going to give you back your lost day.
FemaleOracle: And oh yeah Buffy has a kid now. She didn't remember how she got it. She thought Riley must have slipped her some drug and raped her.
MaleOracle: Die Riley die!
Angel: Even though he didn't even do anything?
FemaleOracle: Shut up and go have lots of sex with Buffy at our behest.
Angel: If you say so.
Yeah. I think one of the problems I have with IWRY is all the bad!fic spawned from it.
I do find him disappointing for his tendency to bite off bigger chunks of story than he could chew
Yes, but he's also capable of biting off great big chunks and delivering. I'd rather he bite off big chunks and fail sometimes than never bite off big chunks at all. And that metaphor is getting seriously wonky.

This is true, but IMHO less and less so as time has gone by. There are certain issues Whedon really really loves to come back to over and over again, and its very problematic because I don't think he's good at them. Whedon's worldbuilding so inconsistent, and his politics are so simplistic... and he just goes back to that well over and over...
His strength is humor and great dialogue, but the more seriously he takes himself and the more he tries to make 'statements' instead of just telling stories... the more flaws in his products are exposed for me.
