It was based on The Cowsills, sort of The Hansens of their time. It was a whole bunch of singing siblings (six of them!) along with their mom.
I was briefly a fan (I was ten, so don't hate me) and I owned a bunch of their albums. Amazingly Susan Cowsill grew up to become a member of The Continental Drifters, a really fine band.
It's not knowing stuff so much as one day being at a really good music site and suddenly having a need to know whether those wholesome avatars of wholesomeness, The Cowsills, became drug abusing serial murderers.
