And save me from my real life.

Jossverse
Didn't Tim Minear (or David Greenwalt?) explicitly say in an interview that Fred was included in Connor's birth scene to fill out the role of the Virgin Mary? If so, can someone link the interview? Who?
How else is Connor's birth scene like the birth of Christ?
Why is Connor so fucked up?
What are the shower facilities like on Serenity?

Why does semagic close itself automagically so often?
Where on semagic does it tell people's birthdays?
Do you have to have PhotoShop to make cool graphics?
Isn't PhotoShop expensive? Did you all dl it? Isn't that illegal? Does that bother you?

Life
When I interrogated the mirror this morning I found that my hair had built a large but well fortified battlement atop my head, intent on defeating that mighty insurgent, the comb. But HAHAHAHA! The comb played the villainous hair for a fool, foiling its nefarious scheme of mischief and mayhem by not aproaching, instead retreating to the eternal peace of its crowded kingdom, the drawer. Wherefore the miscreant hair reared it's ugly split ends, as in a banner of victory, mocking the cowardly comb with wild abandon and occasional snarling.

Meanwhile, my oft treacherous jeans took the opportunity to sway the allegiance of my much beloved shirt, a shirt which I have lovingly attended with the tender ministrations of a friend and ally, the kind of ally who knows you must be kind to anything you put against your boobs. But alas, that sneaking and insideous zipper, so intent on degenercy and disgrace that it descends, drops, falls, without the least provocation, and despite my better efforts to raise it back up into the light, to Eden and to heaven and the proximity of my naval with a safety pin, that zipper connived with its foul intent to disrobe me by stealing away yet another buttor from my beloved shirt. It became, if you will, a turn-shirt, exposing my vulnerable flesh to the wanton eye.

And then, what should happen but the coffee maker, spying the way my hair had taken to with my scalp, and the way my abdomen was bared of all defenses, judged me but a weak accomplice at best, and issued the poorest, most watery of coffee... an underhanded move--not out and out villainy (decaf) but still, a blow, a crippling blow indeed.

[Poll #704339]

OMG NO I REALLY, REALLY NEED TO KNOW RIGHT NOW:

Anything going on with you? Fic bits you want to share? Stories? Jokes? Adventures in clothing, coffee, and hair? Thoughts about wearing hardware store shirts with other people's names on them? Odes to the dodo bird? Your favorite quote? Words you keep meaning to start using, but don't? Phrases? What you did last summer? How many licks it takes? The meaning of life?

I demand from each of you either one thing very clever, be it prose or verse, original or repeated -- or two things moderately clever -- or three things very dull indeed. And I engage to laugh heartily at them all.

*clings madly to lj*

I run! I scurry!

No one seemed to be able to keep track of who they wanted to play the Virgin Mary to Connor, although Fred is the one during that scene in the alley, Cordelia is doing the job here (http://pics.livejournal.com/ros_fod/pic/0000t5t8), with the Three Wise Men Persons bearing the Miracle Baby gifts.

*zooooooooooom!*

I never noticed that!

That's one thing I love about AtS though. Anyone can fall into any metaphoric place you want them too. IT'S SO UNBELIEVABLY WHOA AND WOE-FUL TO WRITE, OMG.

I used Fred as the Virgin in LMR. Which is not to say my fic is anywhere near canon, but since you are enamored of LMR, maybe you confused it with something else?

OTOH, Fod has theories about Fred and her was-going-to-be-love/sex-interest for Connor, before Marsters showed up and VK had to leave and S5 ensued and S6 was cancelled. Pick her brain about it all some time. It's good eats.

Connor's fucked up cause he was weaned and raised in a Hell dimension by an insane preacher. I defy anyone to find sanity that way. Thank goodness for mindwipes, says I.

Erm. I love the evol Starbucks coffee and I think Myspace is a pick up joint OL for teenies, isn't it?

Other than that, I got nothing. :{

((hugs you anyways))

I am enamored of LMR but I saw it elsewhere. I'm sure I did, and I thought there was an interview where Minear (or someone) talked about (or vehemently denied) that the birth of Connor was meant to be Christ-like. Or I could be, you know, on crack?

VK left because of JM? Don't they know VK should've stayed on because of JM? *bonks them on head* That's interesting. Btw, I really really really loved the link you left to [livejournal.com profile] stoney321's Fic in Triptych a while back, with the Fred/Connor parallels. I just read a fic recently in which Fred is reluctant to get it on with Gunn the summer after S3 because everything's so fucked up, and because of Connor. And I started thinking yeah, with just those three at the hotel, things would've been kinda awkward, especially because Connor is so curious and rather awkward as far as sex goes (I seriously had never thought about that before). And then I thought about how Angelus mentioned listening to Fred/Gunn get it on, and I was like, man, like father like son (well, that I had thought of before, but not in terms of paralleling voyeurism of Fred/Gunn). And now I want to do a fic in which both Angel and Connor are stuck one night listening to Fred/Gunn sex (Connor because he has his ear to the wall and Angel because he can't get the fuck away from it with his hyper hearing) and then of course there's dirty!bad!wrong father/son sex. *coughs* But anyway, Fred/Connor, hmm. Interesting.

oh. The whole hell dimension thing. Well, there's that.

I love Sbux. My BFFs (okay, 2 out of 3 of them) have My Space and I DON'T LIKE IT but I got one anyway. Though I defy anyone to pick me up; I am most hostile when it comes to that. Even unwittingly so.

And thanks. I'm all wobbly today.

OOOOOH. F/G with A/C undertones and smut OMG OMG OMG write that plz. It's uhm....Passover soon! Yes! It can be a lovely Passover gift. To me. *cough*

Minear and/or et al don't know their own symbolismstrength! Ha!

Also, per Fod again, Marsters cost too much $$ so others had to go. WB insisted on Marsters. Which the Spangel lover in me rejoices over, but the rest of me goes...dude. Wherefore art the Connor arc, the Congel, the Sponnor, the ressurection of Lilah and hello SOME FUCKING PLOT RESOLUTION. I might still be bitter about the cancellation.

TKP'S should never be all wobbly!! (hugs you again) *smooches you too*

I'm going to someday. It just takes me so fuckin LOOOONG to write anything. But! I am playing with a Connor fic which is part of the reason I asked the Mary question. I really can't find any other references besides LMR so maybe I did dream it. WHATEVER, it's my own personal canon. Stolen from you. The trouble is whenever I go to write Connor I write around Connor, like the glow to bring out a haze.

Aren't we all.

Yay, Kita love! *snuggles you back*

He's hard to do. I agree. I'm always around for chat though, and I know Fod would chomp at the bit to beta some good Connor fic.

Doooooooo eeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

yay! *files for future reference*

[livejournal.com profile] cordelianne found out what I was thinking of: in the commentary to the ep "Lullaby," Mere Smith points out the Mary imagery, and Minear claims that at first it was unintential, but later was milked for all it was worth. God, now my soul can rest.

[identity profile] ros-fod.livejournal.com 2006-04-05 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, definitely. But then, sometimes, Mere Smith and Minear and Greenwalt just fought about which character played what part in which arc of what derivation of which biblical story they were quasi-representing. Heh.

Although I love that pic mostly because of what it says about Angel. That he isn't David, a King, after all, but Joseph the Carpenter. A man thrust into a hero's position, trying to make it work, getting jerked around by the Powers, wishing, sometimes in guilty secret, sometimes openly and bitterly, that he and his family weren't so Special and Chosen.

That can only make it better, imo. I guess I fall into the habit (when writing) of trying to make every allegory a one to one representation. With multiple people vying for multiple representations, the metaphor ends up ambiguous and contradictory...which is most more realistic and more fertile playing ground for thought/imagination, imo.

Oh, I love that idea. I had thought about Angel-as-Joseph, but only in passing; I hadn't really considered other ways it applied (I tend to have a too idealized view of Angel, which irks me. I like him precisely because he's a man...thrust into a hero's position, as you say.) Huh. It bears lots of thinking about. Thanks for the insight.
