La Vie De TKP crossover with Sue's Country Livin'

So, these past three days I was in Austin, and whaddaya know, there was [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue! Although there was not Sueage as I had originally intended to write because I surreptitiously leaned very close and got a whiff and can faithfully report to you all that she smells nothing like sewage. And I also met [livejournal.com profile] elcazavampiros, and tried very hard not to call him Caza. He was tall, fun to talk to, and Anya-loving, and had a shiny metal. Both Sue and I suggested he put it in a drawer and wear the hardness about his eyes. Because it's one of the best lines in fiction ever! But instead he had to wear it a lot. And I wore the cowboy hat he got with shiny fringe! That was after the margaritas.

So, flist & Curious Others, here is the REAL skinny on Sue, in case you've been wondering from someone IN THE KNOW (*gratuitous winking*). She didn't put a bag over my head and drag me off into a mysterious forest to have her way with me (except for that one time), and she's cute, with curly hair, and a good dresser, very color coordinated, with orange. She's also funny and witty and able to quote "The Yoko Factor", and laughs appropriately when I quote things, and did cheese-stick theater except with remotes. She's also smart and insightful and honest and talktoable about stuff, though stuff always makes its way back to Buffy or Angel or Xander or Anya or Hot, which is a good thing, and she taught me how to pronounce various lj names, which was nice but caused my whole world view to tilt.

I lugged her out to meet my brother and sister-in-law, which in retrospect wasn't the best idea because they can't talk Buffy. But we did see the Poncho Guitar Statue Guy with the ducks, and then we saw bats. See, there's this ritual in Austin where a bunch of tourists congregate under a bridge and turn their faces up towards the sky, lips parted, with a kind of worshipful stance, gazing toward Gotham Tower where Mr. Freeze lives. And then, of a sudden, there is a cloud of smoky dark up from under a bridge, and out swooping come eleventyseventbajillionandone bats, to rival the bat cave bats and then some. Then everyone starts doing under-the-bridgey things like sex and booze and murder and jazzercise and building fires in trashcans while Michael Keaton, Adam West, and Christain Bale fight naked slathered in guano. Okay, it's possible I kinda embellished that last part; there might not have been actual jazzercise. But I HEARD it.

So, in conclusion. Sue is the Sue I knew except cooler, and also with brighter eyes and smaller feet. Caza is a Very Important Person who goes to blowing bubble conferences. [livejournal.com profile] dovil is pronounced Doovil. I make the bestest cookies this side of Oklahoma; lots of people said hi to me on Sue's journal which Sue relayed and to which I say hi back; B/A spit is worth the wait, and I had a really nice time.

Except for the headache and fever and puking.

ETA: I feel much better now. It was a thing that hit especially hard that first night but kinda slithered off after that. I thought it was food poisoning but others I ate with that night have since said they're convinced it was a small virusy thing. I guess we wait until Sue gets back to find out if I infected her or Caza. Fun!

How can you describe such a good time and end it on that note? You okay?
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
The answer is I thought it was kinda funny. I really didn't feel good that first day, but it was actually that night, after I left Mr. and Mrs. Sue that the fever and puking happened. It was really only a spell of about 8 hours that was TERRIBLE, then I slept, woke up the next morning, and felt a lot better.

I'm better now, though I still feel a touch queazy when I eat. Thank you for asking. I should possible clarify the post. :o)

I'M BEING QUOTED! I'm, like, part of the popular culture! The Simpsons could do a satire on me! *thuds to the floor in shock*

This is the coolest thing to happen to me since I discovered slash. *beams*

HAHAHHA! What's funny is I wanted to say that when Sue first posted about Caza's medal, but I kept thinking, would Lynne know I'm quoting that line because I love it so much? But then over margaritas Sue started talking about her favorite lines in fanfic and we said yours pretty much simultaneously and confessed we'd both thought about saying as much to Caza. That is how pop culture you are.

*longs to see Simpsons A/S*

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha! That was going to be the subject line of my journal post when I got home (I am home!) but of course before I posted I had to run over here to see if Joy had said anything embarrassing about me or told all about "that one time." Neither of us was a dirty old man in a raincoat. Darn the luck.

But yes - the medal quote was mucho-quoted. Both for love of quote, and because Caza had to wear the thing for the entire conference. I also quoted [livejournal.com profile] tkp's When she opens her vein for you, she opens up an atlas to her and she had many fine things to say about my S/X opus, so there was fandom love. You are so a part of my personal lit. Just sayin'.

Doovil? DOOVIL? Say it ain't so! My world depends on dovil rhyming with, uh... O-ville.

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
It's true! I know! Like I said: WORLD SHIFT. I told Sue the same thing about having thought it rhymed. Turns out her and Caza'd thought the same thing (I think?)

The other thing that kinda makes my head spin is being able to pronounce [livejournal.com profile] uberaeryn and finding IT'S NOT THAT HARD.

[identity profile] a2zmom.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
so, instead she rhymes with whoville! Isn't that better? (I am always the optomist).

Thank you! It was indeed a fabulous time! And actually, although I was pretty nastily sick (as was my s-i-l) it turned out not interfering with Sue time too much at all.

[identity profile] dlgood.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 12:37 am (UTC)(link)

He's Sue's husband. Also, he was dude-like. Oh! And recently he revealed the mystery of his name: "vampire hunter" in Spanish, but "el" because of the dude factor. So I'm going with a yeah.

And thanks.

My world was askew without you!

But I am so glad you had a wonderful time.

And if you had said that after all those bats came out, you saw Dick Greyson, I might have driven down to you straightaway. The fact that some people think he is only pen-and-ink is their problem.

I have a drabble up. Go back a day and you'll find it.

My favrite mispronunciation of a user name was spicedrum. I was convinced it was spice-drum because I am an idiot.

My world wasn't askew, it was cockeyed! On Saturday I am leaving for a two week trip. I don't know what I will do with my flist.

If I edit the post and add Dick, will you come see me?

What's funny is when I first glanced at that I read spice-drum too. I think there must be a lot of names I mispronounce.

I'm off to read.

Well, I didn't say anything about it on my journal; I'm kinda spotty about what I update on if it's not me whining about something fandomish. But I'm REALLY behind on reading my flist for about ...the past three weeks! So, I have to apologize for lack of commentage.

And heh. I really did have an awesome time! Except for the ...yeah. Life has its own punchlines.

And thanks! Cheese is good.

I'm so happy that you and Sue had a wonderful time!!! Yay!!! And you got to meet Caza!! How very awesome!!

I frequently pronounce things wrong in my head if I've never heard them before, so I suspect I'm very wrong on some username pronunciations. I also thought dovil was pronounced differently. When I first saw "meme" I imagined it like memo but with an "e" sound at the end, when it really should be meeeeem (or something like that).

Now I want to go to Austin for the bats and jazzercize!!!

I am glad to hear you're feeling better!

[identity profile] southernbangel.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
when it really should be meeeeem (or something like that)

For real? I've always pronounced it like mem-ee, similar to how you imagined it.

Huh. Oh well, I still think I'm right and everyone else is WRONG WRONG WRONG. *g*

And she kept pronouncing "nous" correctly, which I actually know, and yet I say the "s" sound at the end in my head anyway.

The only thing is that if it was, it took a day in a half to set in (considering who I ate with when, I mean). But anyway I'm just glad it's gone!

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, it was a surrey hat, and there was fringe (I don't know about on top though). Oklahoma! followed them!

Caza got it from some conference. He also got bubbles and a clapper thing. The clapper thing was sooo much fun, but I very intrepidly didn't steal it. Sue couldn't blow the bubbles and then she said, "but I'm usually such a good blower!"

[identity profile] anelith.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I called Sue the day she and Caza were travelling to Austin and chatted with her a bit, and I asked her if she was going to see the bats. It's the only thing I know about Austin! So I'm glad to know that bats were seen.

So glad that virus thing lasted only 8 hours or so, it sounds horrible.
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
The funny thing is I've been to Austin about a dozen times and never seen them. In fact, last time I was there, I managed to see the crowd WAITING for the bats, but not the actual bats.

It was horrible! I'm so glad it's over. I think. I feel poorly this morning. Ahhhhh!

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm hooooome! After many trying experiences. Our water pump gave out in Gainesville, but luckily it was still under warranty. Unluckily, it wasn't available until this morning, so we were Ramada-ing it last night. God. Sooo glad to be home.

Then everyone starts doing under-the-bridgey things like sex and booze and murder and jazzercise and building fires in trashcans while Michael Keaton, Adam West, and Christain Bale fight naked slathered in guano. Hahahahaha! It's like I was there! Oh, man, I totally forgot about Jazzercise.

You still look like your LJ icon to me. *wears orange 4-eva* I am home and Caza's medal is in a drawer, but the hardness? Yes. Still around his eyes. (See how I avoided that double entendre there?)
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-06-02 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! Welcome back! I'm sorry you got way-laid! I was afraid I made you ill! I read Ramada-ing as rumba-ing and was thinking, well, at least it sounds fun.

Hahahahaha! It's like I was there! Oh, man, I totally forgot about Jazzercise.

Now I'm picturing all the Batmans standing in a line jazzercising.

I think it's funny I still look like my icon. And you so didn't avoid the double entendre because I was holding my breath after the question mark kind of afraid to read the next line.

I'm glad you had a good time. I am jealous that so many of my awesome new LJ friends are so far away! But sometimes they, or I, come close to one another so it's all good. I originally got an LJ to stay in touch with people in Florida, but now I have all new people to stay in touch with!

Hope your further travels are as loverly.
