It is, hands down, the best season of television in the HISTORY OF TELEVISION. Nothing will ever, ever, ever again be that good. VK is the kind of talented that is actually SCARY.
I loved it when I saw it the first time around, but I don't think I really managed to feel it all because I wanted so much to know what was going to happen (I knew the general outline, but no specifics). And I don't rewatch often because even with things I love, I usually feel like they might lose their shine or something. But anyway, this time around, god, I felt like every episode left me with bruises. Particularly the Jasmine ones--the first time I saw them I didn't know Connor wasn't under her spell. Then I knew, and thought about it a lot, but it's different *watching* and knowing. It's fucking painful. And yeah VK really managed to carry, like, everything. Most of the times he didn't even need to say anything; every single layer of lie and terrible truth was there on his face and in his body. gah
Like, William Dafoe. Or Ed Harris.
I don't think I've ever seen either one of them cry! Huh. Must've not been watching the right movies. Baltar and Joaquin Phoenix don't gut me; I'm just amazed by how often they seem to be able to call up tears. VK too. They get this shiny eyed look.
Liam Neeson and Samantha Morton gut me when they cry. Now that's a weird combination.
