Um... yeah, I wrote a story for IWRY, but ... uh... *shivers with fear* it's a departure.
*drools all over you* That was motherfuckin brilliant, A.
I have a serious problem with JM in S5. They should have re-hired Kartheiser. That was a worse mistake than making DB unattractive. Just IMO, that's all. VK deserved to be in S5, and is such a superior actor and presence -- the decision to drop him still makes me shake my head.
Okay, so here's my think. In the world of AtS, there was no good reason for Spike to be in L.A., no good reason for that whole amulet business yada yada. BUT, for me, from viewer perspective and if I was M.E., there're several good reasons: comedy, Spike is unfailingly likeable, and most of all, the A/S dynamic. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a big A/S h0r--Angel has a dynamic with Spike he does not have with any other canonical character. He shows sides of Angel we really don't get to see all that often.
And the thing about Spike? Is he's like that with everyone. He picks people apart and shows them their underwear, and if they'd've gotten to do a longer run of AtS they could've used him against ALL the other characters in AtS to great effect. I really believe that character-wise, the addition of Spike was one of the better things they ever did.
Another thing for my is I love what they did with Connor in "Home". Angel doing that spell for Connor just says so much about who Angel is, and I love the idea of Connor getting a chance at a happy life. I'm not sure I could've stood Connor going on on the same track. Even if they did have ANgel do the spell from "Home," then did an ep like "Origin" right near the opening of S5 so they could have Connor kinda half in the life, my heart would be so shreddy because I got so little time to think of him as being Happy.
What I'd've most liked to've seen, though, would've been "Origin" coming earlier in S5, and VK guesting in several big eps. Then THERE WOULD'VE BEEN AN S6, and Lorne would've been off it, and VK back on. And COnnor would be dealing with his new life/old life issues, which even though we only get to see in NFA, I freaking love. It's like Buffy and all her issues ON STERIODS. God. God, I love that boy. S4 is so awesome. I'm still all high on just finishing it. Sorry for the ramble!
