Wow, so many questions, and I don't really know the answers to any of them! I'll guess I'll attempt to answer a few here. C) Fanfiction is probably considered to be the bottom of the literary hierarchy. You know, there's authors who write adult books at the top, then teen authors, then children's authors, and then fanfic authors. It's a similar phenomenon to the hierarchy in acting- actors who are in plays are at the top, then actors who are in movies, then actors who are on television, then actors who are in commercials. I think people just like to think than they're better than other people in general, so that's how hierarchies get started in the first place. D) I'd be surprised if there WASN'T Batman/Gordon fic. I'd think that would be an obvious pairing. Of course, I don't read Batman fic myself, so I don't really know. E) I don't think that it really matters. Whatver the LJ blogger thinks is best, they should do that. F) I think fics do tend to be long in HP fandom. I have so many on my computer that are hundreds of pages! I'm not sure why that is, really. I guess I just assumed that fics were long for every fandom. G) I like Snape/Harry too! I thought it was a perfectly fine pairing, and then I started to compare it to real life teacher/student relationships, and then I was like, "ew!" But I STILL like Snape/Harry. Maybe I'll look into Snape/Harry in versions where Harry is not a minor. Because, apparently, LJ outlawss Snape/Harry fics where Harry is a minor anyway. H) I had never heard of Horation Hornblower until mistful mentioned it. You know, it does surprise me that there aren't more fandoms in general. The main ones seem to be the sci-fi and fantasy fandoms. I don't care if there is porn or not, but I do like to see lots of het and slash pairings. I don't know, it's kind of fun to pair people up. Of course, when I do that, it sort of slides into wanting to pair up historical figures and authors of books. And then it's a slippery slope for wanting to pair up people in real life. So, yeah. I have to be careful with that. 0) Not really. She's okay at first, but she can get kind of grating if you watch her too much. P) It depends on my mood. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Usually I like Ellen Degeneres better. Q) I have read fanfiction on my lunch breaks from work at one of the computers in our staff office. I do have to be careful and make sure that it's work-safe, though. I wanted to read your "Silver Tongues" while on break at work, and then I saw that it was rated R and had "adult" themes, so I was thinking "that probably wouldn't be a good idea to read at work." I'll read it at home though. =) R) Oh my goodness, I edit things that people write and say all the time! I usually try not to TELL the person if they say something wrong because that can get annoying. But, yes, I do have editing tendicies. S) What's fb? But I would say a few days after would be the best, and probably a week after at the most. U) What's A/N? I was thinking it's alternate universe, but that's AU. V) I'll tell you when I know what it is. =P =) W) Hm, that's an interesting question. You know, my great-grandmother had an arranged marriage. She came here from another country and had only seen a picture of her (future) husband before she reached the US and married him. But I guess an arranged marriage is different from a forced marriage. Maybe people like reading about characters not wanting to be in a relationship, but then slowly falling in love with each other? It's the whole Mr. Darcy/Elizabeth Bennet thing, I think. I hope you liked my answers! =)
