Important questions guys

If Steve Rogers liked modern music (because come on, he does; I'm not sure where you got this idea that swing is his only thing), what would he like? [personal profile] my_daroga, sagely (she is often sage [and it shows (what I mean is she wears green [she's not wizened or anything (I'm doing this because I know she's reading this [somehow she sees all my posts even though she's never on dw anymore])])]) pointed out that Beyonce's Single Ladies a) shares similar themes to many ballads of Steve's time, and b) is played in similar circumstances to when such ballads would have been played in Steve's time. But idk what if he's a hipster or perhaps prefers R&B what about Adele?

If Steve Rogers drove a modern car (because come on, he does; he has PLACES TO GO with Bruce Banner) what would he drive? And would he get to choose, or would S.H.I.E.L.D. just be like, "Here's your car."?

And if Steve Rogers and Benton Fraser ever met, would it be America/Canada? Or is that more ideal!America/ideal!Canada, and if so, is the real America Tony Stark, or is the real America someone on The Wire, possibly Ziggy? And if Steve Rogers and Benton Fraser ever did meet, Tony would hate them for ever, mostly because a) he's can't fuck them at the same time, because he doesn't have two dicks, and b) they could fuck him at the same time, but they don't. Also if all of the Avengers were in Due South, Fraser would fall in love with Natasha, and Ray K and Clint would just make all the most sad sorry come-ons of ever at everyone and probably at each other.

I'm wearing green right now.

And it's called stalking. No, wait. "Tracking."

Also I only mentioned "Single Ladies" because it's the only song title I could think of that has happened in the past five years because I'm a loser who doesn't follow popular music that's less than ten years old.

Now I'm thinking about Steve and Fraser not fucking Tony and now I'm frustrated.

I knew you were answering my comment, but that was because you kept chuckling to yourself and tying frantically. You can probably tell I'm writing this now. Only now it's later because you're reading it.

You should write it from the POV of Beyonce.

Or we could RP it. But not with Beyonce because I don't think I could do her POV.

I do still want to watch Teen Wolf. When so if you want.

We should RP smut on DW on the couch, like in the old days.

Steve Rogers likes good modern music. And also he thinks the genres of music are a) jazz, b) classical, c) popular tunes, and d) modern music, because he can't tell modern genres apart, and doesn't really consider it one of the things that's important to learn. He listens to a ton of it, but doesn't even bother to try to keep it straight beyond whether he likes it or not. (I am basing this on my experience, and a friend's, being raised almost entirely on folk music and "whatever's on the radio", getting access to all the information ever on the internet, and suddenly finding out that, like, certain songs that I thought were soft rock were actually death metal? So yeah.) Some of the Avengers are boggled by this, some of them (like Natasha) understand perfectly, and Tony never learns to stop trying to educate him.

When Steve Rogers needed a car he used to get a Prius from the SHIELD motor pool, because he tries to be a responsible citizen of the world to the best of his understanding (and also he's kind of horrified, given the current situation, that nobody is even considering bringing back gas rationing. It only makes sense!) (And also if he wants an exciting ride he just takes his bike instead, no car compares to that, and it's got better mileage than any car.) Then Tony found out that there was a car in the SHIELD motor pool that everybody called "Cap's Prius", was utterly horrified, spent a few days in the workshop and presented him with a tricked-out prototype Stark Special that's powered by an arc reactor.

...If Steve Rogers and Benton Fraser ever met, Tony would hate them for the reasons you list for about twenty-four hours, and then hate them even more when he found out they'd already fucked each other. ^_^ (okay possibly that's my headcanon characterizations for them just colliding, carry on.) ...I think Tony would possibly bond for life with Buck Frobisher within about five seconds of meeting him, though, they understand each other on a deep level.

You're right! Howard and Bob would also get on like a house on fire, perhaps literally!

And yeah, I think Steve likes sexy cars - he certainly doesn't mind visiting Tony's once in a while (although he may not have quite the same idea of 'sexy car' that one would expect - I've noticed that car fanciers tend to think certain currently-popular design elements are universal signifiers of SPEED when they're really, really just fashion, and Steve grew up around a very different design aesthetic.) And he'll certainly drive one if Tony offers! On a private track, anyway. But I still think he's mostly a motorcycle guy and gets his death wish out that way (motorcycles are better for death wishes any day) - if only because he knows that if he takes a dumb risk on his bike, chances are that the only person he'll hurt is himself, whereas in a car, it's very very easy to take someone else out a the same time. So when he's driving a car on a public road, he'll obey all the traffic laws to the letter, but on his bike he'll speed and weave in and out of traffic and do all kinds of adrenaline-driven things. Which frustrates Tony! (Bruce understands about the bystander issue, though. Which is why he refuses to ride with Steve on his bike.)

RE: Music: I'm kind of with [personal profile] staranise, I think - he likes anything with a catchy melody and a good beat and words you can actually understand. And that makes you feel better about the world - he's not the kind of guy who deals with an ocean of pain by going swimming it it, and I think he prefers not to even test the waters, so I think he avoid the songs that are full of anger or angst and feelings; rather than wallow he's much more likely to put on "What A Wonderful World" and fill a sketchbook with happy memories. (Although he does like some of the angry political anthems.)

These are very important questions! I'm glad you asked! :D

I considered condensing my headcanon down to that. :D

(But I just can't see him justifying owning a car of his own. Not as long as he lives in downtown Manhattan, anyway, and has a whole fleet he can borrow. He's not the conspicuous consumption type, and he has his bike when he needs something mechanical to fall in love with.)

ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS ARE PLEASING TO ME. I'm imagining Natasha making Clint inhale beer by speculating just how good her chances at getting into bed with Steve and Fraser are.

Clint and RayK are somehow secretly related. THEY JUST ARE.

I could imagine Steve liking R&B, honestly. It's the kind of dancy music I think he's used to. What sticks out at me about popular music pre-vinyl, which Steve was, is that it's the kind of thing that's distinct and recognizable even when broadcast over extremely crappy connections and systems, so to modern ears, it's kind of thumpy/clunky/brassy. So I feel like Steve would find a lot of modern music just kind of bland or insipid.

I'm pretty sure Steve really, really likes Bruce Springsteen. He finds them strangely compelling even when he doesn't quite get the history behind them yet.

If Steve Rogers drove a modern car (because come on, he does; he has PLACES TO GO with Bruce Banner) what would he drive?

I feel like Coulson has probably had this discussion with people many times. When SHIELD presents Steve with a car, it is secretly the car Coulson has carefully picked as "Modern car Captain America would drive" after much consideration.

...okay, I approve of this answer.

Of course, then the question becomes "What car does Coulson think Captain America should drive?"

Sure, any of my headcanon is always open-source :D I have no idea on color - are SHIELD cars mostly black? Narrative logic tells me they are... but if not that - the standard nondescript Prius color seems to be a sort of pale greeny-pearly-gold color. But if Steve let himself pick he'd probably go with blue!

(I think Steve's a little bit embarrassed by *everything* Coulson does regarding him...)

As for music, I am not the world's greatest Steve Rogers expert, but he kind of reminds me of my uncle, who is tall and athletic and an Eagle Scout and subscribes to GQ and goes on long canoe trips and owns a golden retriever and is religious but totally liberal and has been writing down the price to fill his gas tank in a little book ever since he learnt to drive and loves baseball and wears a ball cap and his favourite band of all time is the Indigo Girls.
