Stupid question

I haven't actually used broadcast television in over six years. But anyway, I'm at a hotel, and I thought I'd watch the Olympics since am too tired to really do anything else. Colleague says she's getting NBC on channel 41 in her room. I'm in the same hotel, but channel 41 is solid baseball. Channel 33 is NBC and is covering the Olympics, but the reception is horrible. I've stopped to watch most of the other channels to see if they're this bad, and they're just fine. This is the only channel continually cutting out, and NBC is definitely on a different channel in my colleague's room.

How does this work, exactly? Would some rooms be on satellite and some not? Idk if this is stupid, but I honestly don't understand. Also, you can't use the remote control to press 3-3. It will only register one number at a time. This is dumb but seems like it must be completely unrelated to the same-network-on-different-channels and horrible reception.

In other news I had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] seraphcelene who is a really amazing person. Comes highly recommended as a fandom and real life friend.

Man. I have no idea! That doesn't make any sense at all. Only thing I can say is, check the connection of the cable? Like, make sure the cable is tight? IDK.

Also, Josephus of Borg just brought me two fake mice, isn't she sweet?

it's possible that one TV is set for cable, and one is set for broadcast - like switching between dvd and cable and a game system, only you're switching between broadcast and cable, and your TV is stuck on broadcast. Is there something on the remote that would let you pick a source or something? (My mom's TV can switch between DVD, VHS, other DVD, FIOS via the VHS player, broadcast through the digital box, broadcast through the dvd player, and various unworky combinations of the above that just gives you bluescreen. It scares me and I avoid it at all costs.)

Call the front desk and let them know you're not getting cable!

Everyone beat me to the punch! It sounds like you're not getting an actual cable feed. There may be an option for that on the remote. Also, front desk! It's why they are there.

Meanwhile .... Dinner was awesome! So very, very, very glad that I got to see you and hang out. I only wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow and you didn't have to fly out.
