So, since it's a holiday, I'm reducing my normal fare to two questions.

1.What's one thing you really hated about fandom last year?

A fight, a wank, a post, a trend in fic, a trend in meta, a fic, a friend, a person, that time when you weren't getting your lj notices, Joyce Summers, a 'ship, the sock puppet phenomenon, anything.

Whine, bitch, moan, complain, get your hate on, sign out and be anonymous, sign out and be wanky, sign out and flame me. Because fandom is like a piñata. It's fun to bash.

2.What's one thing you really loved about fandom last year?

A rec, a meta, a breakthrough in fic writing, a fandom experience, meeting a fandom someone in rl, lj's extra userpics, joining a new fandom, seeing a movie/reading a book etc that you will fangirl/boy about, anything.

Love, gush, hug, squish, slather me with goo and lick it off, put coffee liquer on Spike's cock and make Angel lick it off. Because fandom is like a piñata. You can bash it as much as you want but there's still good stuff to be had. Stuff that's fun to suck on. Like Spike's...er. Um. See? Fandom is love.

Not only does Spike's head look like a Ken doll (now that you mention it) but it looks like the one my best friend owned after her bother chewed the nose off!

1. Kerfuffles where people were reduced to a bunch of bitchy 11 year old girls. I think lots of people are too sensitive and people don't undrestand that "tone of voice" is often not what we think it is in lj.

2. New wonderful writers. Like you and

1. Bad slash fic. With accompanying artwork. I name no names. Sweeping generalizations in the form of "essays" regarding other people's motivations for what they write. I name no names. The drift out of Jossverse fandom now that canon is closed.

2. Good slash fic. Like yours, and Germaine Pet's. The trip to NYC to see VK NAKEDOMG. The immense support from fandom when my family struggled with health and money issues. The mere existance of gorgeous, smart, funny women who read LJ.

Spike IS a Ken doll. Except he's anatomically correct, so he gets points.

1. Fairy Spike and related phenomena. Mostly related to quality issues, however. Also disrespecting other cultures for crack fic issues. *is a snob like whoa*

2. New friends. Revived fandoms (due South). Good fic.

1. Kerfuffles and wank of all kinds, although I refuse to mention any specific ones cuz it brings back annoyed-with-people feelings, and I want to be happy! It's 2006!

2. Lots. New friends, new fics, new kinks, new beloved pairings... the list goes on.

I never thought about it but you're totally right! Spike = Ken doll! Those Ken dolls always had weird, long, eggy-shaped heads and that's kind of Spike's head (at least when his hair was plastered to his head).

1. Double standards, but that's all the time. This whole ordeal over people being persecuted and crucified for not like Spuffy, sort of eye rollworthy, very wanky and annoying. I hate Spike, I really do, and what I hate even more are immature Spuffies harassing me for it. Fact #23384749 just had a comment today. Get that a lot, but I stand true to my opinion and my belief, so it really makes no difference.

Oh and btw, said person commented and promptly deleted like a coward, last month, or was it November? More harassment, didn't like what they had to say in regards to rape, so I deleted and banned them from my LJ, person proceeded to email me.

*sigh*

2. The people. The fic, the communities and meetinmg people. I enjoy the people IN my fandom more than the people itself. Finally meeting an online buddy, we're pretty tight and I can go as fangurly as I want around her, and vice versa, it's nice, and comforting that I'm not the only freak here lol.

First stab at paid account. Might not be as exciting for someone that doesn't make graphics, but it is to me, because I icon like the bajesus, and playing around with layours are really fun. Improved my graphics skills I think, have become more comfortable with doing larger things like headers and wallpapers.

Pretty much, there are some shitty things that happen, but there are also good ones. As much as there are annoying people, or annoying dramas that go on, I wouldn't change it for the world, because lj wouldn't be lj and fandom wouldn't be fandom without a little drama.

I've often wondered why many people make fun of Angel's hair, and why not Spike? It looks like a helmet aka plastic Ken doll hair. You can't make fun of someone else's hair if yours is worse, it just makes you look like an ass lol. I'd take Angel spikey hair over Ken doll any day of the week.

1. I am arrogant and thus expect all people to bow and scrape before me. Am frustrated when this does not happen.

2. New entrants into fandom putting out new fandom products...

1. Have to go with a lot of people and say that my most hated part of fandom last year was the kerfuffles. I'm with a2zmom on it being like witnessing a mass transformation of fandom into 11 year girls.

2. What did I love? Finding new cool people, exploring a brand new fandom (The X Files - I've been into the show for years, but I only looked in on the fandom in the last year) and discovering the love of making videos. That got my fan girl love on big time.

1 Memes! I know I am probably one of the only people who hates memes and I probably wouldn't hate them so much if people were to put them behind a cut... but when you check your flist and have to scroll past 50 identical and unbelievably LONG memes it gets...well.. FRUSTRATING!!!

1. Well, I just dislike fandom fighting and ripping each other apart in general.
2) I just love everything about the fandom (except #1, and that's bound to happen, I suppose). I especially love all of the wonderful people I've "met" through fandom. You all are amazingly awesome (including you!)! =)
