S. Hello fandom! *waves enthusiastically*
P. Whoever recced my fic 5 Ways NFA Probably Didn't End at BBF has my thanks. So, thanks.
A. Go read [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom's fic, Faithless. It's B/A/(F), or possibly B=F/A, or possibly A+F=-B, the sum of which equals hot.
N. [livejournal.com profile] entrenous88 is writing Buffy/Connor; it's like she read my mind, ripped all the pages out, made them into tiny sea-worthy boats, said, "I can do better!" and did, right here.
D. [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue has more Xander shaped love, which you should all go read, because Xander is an unsung hero, except for all the times we get up and sing about him at the top of our lungs with bawdy lyrics and possibly spit on the audience, which should really be attempted more often.
E. [livejournal.com profile] viciouswishes is asking about dating fanfic on archives, because internet dating is really all the rage now, and [livejournal.com profile] spiralleds is asking about writing longer fics because once, two guys were pissing off the side of Golden Gate Bridge, comparing, you know, as guys are wont to do, until one of them remarked, "boy, is this water cold!" And the other had to throw in, "and deep!" because length matters.
X. What was I going to say again? Oh, if your names is Ares, [livejournal.com profile] l_aurens or [livejournal.com profile] imnotacommittee I owe you emails, and will stare at the sendy button blankly for possibly weeks until I get back to you. But strike back at you I will. They call me Empire at the office. They also call me exceedingly cheesy. Plus, there is no office.
!.
Because I got tagged by [livejournal.com profile] l_aurens Woohoo!!!

Guilt
What is yours?
Explain yourself
Culinary: The grease some pizza comes with. It's pure grease!
Literary: Romance novels I started reading them because I was going to write pot boilers. Now I kind of like them and hate myself.
Audiovisual: 13 Going On 30 What a lame, dumb chickflick. I love it so much.
Musical: Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangster Er...I don't feel comfortable with the lyrics?
Celebrity: Russel Crowe He's such a bastard in RL, apparently, but it actually doesn't usually make me feel too ashamed.

Now I tag:-

No one, because I am lazy.

edited because I'm dumbasstastic.

This is a good day.

Yeeeeeeah, did you get the memo about the cover sheets for the TPS reports?

Did you know that TKP is the abbreviation for the Communist Party of Turkey? It's so great being me.

Oh, god. 13 Going On 30. I love that movie so much. So cute and funny and Jennifer Garner just goes for it all, no holding back, THRILLER BABY THRILLER. But I also love it in this wierdly fannish AU way, like, I look at it as an long AU Alias episode and JG is so good at being this wholly different person in mind and body and soul. Xander shading darker into a Hyena, Angel curling his mouth in a different way to become Angelus, Willow striking a match and holding it up against the relaxed evil of her gaze. I love, love, love that stuff. People transforming into someone else in front of my eyes. The anti-Sydney. YES.

Russell Crowe, passing a pack a cigarettes along the table: Care for a coffin nail, love?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. God bless.

There was a time when I was going to write 13 Going On 30 fanfic. Even jotted down notes for a scene. And I have written ALIAS fanfic, so I smell cross-something, and not hot-cross-buns, honey. Wouldn't it be cool to do a kid-Syd in her 30 yr old body, still thinking her mommy is dead and her daddy works for the airport? Or even just Syd meets anti-Syd in some bizarro land where Willow and Xander are still together. Or possibly, Syd lives in a pink dream house while Jenna Rink turns super spy. OMG, the possibilities. If I didn't already have a bizarre hankering for "24"/ALIAS cross-overs I'd think I was nuts.

Anyway, what? Oh yeah, transformation. I once saw this Shakespearean company do "Macbeth" with a total of five people--it was so fucking fantabulous how good these actors were, how they could make themselves into each character with such a subtle shift. This one chick didn't even shift, she just--her eyes looked different, and everything was different, and it was like she hadn't moved, but you could tell she was a different character and you could tell which character she was. Omg, so cool; you'd've loved it.

[identity profile] ros-fod.livejournal.com 2006-02-22 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Omg, so cool; you'd've loved it.

Yes, yes I would have. Except that I'll never be able to see it. I will die knowing that I've missed something great. Thanks.

Wouldn't it be cool to do a kid-Syd in her 30 yr old body, still thinking her mommy is dead and her daddy works for the airport?

THAT WOULD BE THE COOLEST! I also love the idea of Sydney and Jenna trading places. God, I love Jennifer Garner when she plays baffled. And Jenna's already proven to be quick on her feet. Kind of. Just the thought of her waking up in some dank, subterranean jail makes me squee with glee. Weiss is there, too, (I only saw the first couple of seasons of Alias), his dress-shirt gone greyish-yellow under his arms and along his collar, his hair flat against his head in the humidity. He'd look at Jenna, brows knitting together.

"Are you - " he'd say.

Jenna'd put her hand out, palm facing him, and then she'd stick her face between her knees, the sound of her hyperventilating echoing against the concrete walls. She'd straighten up, so suddenly that Weiss would flinch.

"I have to pee," she'd say.

When Weiss points to the corner of the room where there's a small bucket for that sort of thing, her face would blanche but she'd stand up gingerly, shoulder back, hands smoothing out her trousers. She'd tiptoe over to the bucket and peer into it, body at a diagonal, like she was looking over a steep ledge.

"Um," fingertips against her mouth. "Somebody's bleeding."

Weiss would tip his head back, still prone on the ground, wrists held together, bruises along one side of his face. "Looks like it, yeah."

I just read Running With Scissors, so poo is kind of on my mind. Sorry.

Yeah, actually, you're life is pretty much just pointless now. Sucks to be you!!!

Great, now you're going to make me work for it. Let's see...found the company, it's called "Actors From The London Stage", and they tour the USA. This spring they're doing Merchant of Venice, and the schedule is here. Since they perform at universities, the admittance cost is low; at mine it was only $5 for students and $7 for non students. But if they're not playing anywhere near you, it's kind of a bummer. The Macbeth I saw was worth several hours drive, but the Othello I saw done by them was not. They always do the only five actors thing, with very minimal props/set, but I guess it depends on who the actors happen to be and how they choose to interpret.

There, that's all I can offer you, but at least I feel better about making your life miserable ;o)

I only ever saw the first 3 season of ALIAS. The 3rd season was so much suck I could stand it no longer. Oh, JJ Abrams.

I love Weiss. How cool is it that he's there when Jenna wakes up.

She'd tiptoe over to the bucket and peer into it, body at a diagonal, like she was looking over a steep ledge.

[...]

"Looks like it, yeah."

Oh, good good stuff.

You better be sorry! Guess I need to read that one.

You know what this post totally reminds me of?

You need to update/finish Best Souvenir. Just a thought :)

lol! SUBTLETY, THEY NAME IS ALONEINTHETOWN!!!

It's with my beta, seriously.

I love your icon to death, and not just because Bjork rocks my socks right off.

[identity profile] aloneinthetown.livejournal.com 2006-02-23 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Bjork is definitely one of my idols. Her voice just blows me away. How anyone can sing like that is just inhuman :) And you automatically gain even more coolness points for liking her!
ext_7189: (lissla)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-02-23 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Bjork definitely equals coolness points.

"Best Souvenir" is named after "I Miss You" from the album Post. It's not the best title ever, but I was at a complete loss when I started posting, and so I started thinking of song lyrics (last resort) and came up with

"I miss you
But I haven't met you yet."

I was thinking about Buffy not having met Angel, what her life would be like. How a piece of her would've been missing all that time, and she wouldn't even have known it until she met him.

*wibbles*

Ooh, yay for stupid love of 13 Going on 30. Of course, my love for dumb chick flicks is far greater than just that one movie, but that one's pretty high up on the list. And I love Damn it feels good to be a gangster too, but I make a point just to groove and not pay much attention to the lyrics.

I'm not so fond of pizza grease (I blot my pizza with napkins) or Russel Crowe, but I won't hold them against you. ;)
ext_7189: (lissla)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-02-22 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
I actually don't ususally like dumb chick flicks. The other chick flick I really really like is Sabrina, the '95 one with Harrison Ford, but that one's not really "dumb" imo. But a lot of those Notting Hill type movies I just can't really get into.

Yeah, pizza grease. Is Papa John's a nationwide chain? Anyway, they give you a separate tub of grease to dip your pizza into. I love that to death. Dip every single bite, baby. And I think Russel Crowe is the hottest star out there. Yeah, even over DB etc. I just hate his RL attitude. Then again, I rarely pay attn to actors' lives, so it goes over my head and I pretend he's that guy from LA Confidential or Gladiator.

LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!

Well, I love Connor because he's womanly, does that redeem me?

But seriously, I have a type. For instance, Hugh Jackman. I only think he's hot when he's being the Wolverine. Elsewise he's way too pretty. Sometimes I fear there's something primal in me that wants to get dragged around by the hair.

Just goes to show how motives vary widely... I only like Jackman when he's Wolverine, too, but I think that's because he's tortured. I don't find him that pretty, otherwise.

Oh, hormones. Why are you all different?

omg! Tortured!Wolverine! That's why I like him too. That and he's really fuckin hot. I need to post my X-men fanfic one day, even if it is terribly terribly wrong.

Terribly terribly wrong is one reason I started reading X-Men ff. I only really like the first movie because it's got Rogue and Wolverine's relationship all twisty and awesome. That was totally hot.

POST!

OMG. Have I mentioned I love you?

I love the second movie, but the fanfic I've written and the ones I used to read are all about the first movie and the W/Rness. They were one of my first big OTPs.

The main fic I did for it was actually an AU, and the premise for the AU really is fucked up. I got the idea from someone else (she gave me her permission to use it) but looking back on it, it's really not...my style. It's in the vault with the POTO fic, though, so I can't post it right now. I will soon though, hopefully; I'm supposed to get a new comp.

That was one of the first pairings I was like, dude, this is fucked up, I LOVE IT. So yeah. Love me.

And I'd love to read your fic when your comp's better. POTO and X-Men. You have many goodies yet to supply.

Um, that was me and you're more than welcome. I should have left feedback here as well, but I'm buried in a heap of work and my brain is too frazzled to find the right words right now... somehow it seemed not enough to feedback this story with just "Wow!" ;) Though that _was_ one of my reactions.

The reaction thread looks full of insightful comments, and I'm looking forward to reading it all, and possibly give this story another reading, when I have more time. There's a lot of food for thought.

Mmmm, spandex!

You needn't feel obliged to leave fb at the fic, and wow is more than welcomed, but thanks. You're right, people've been leaving really thoughtful fb, and it's interesting with a fic like this where I tried so many things that I'm not sure work, you know?

Hope work settles down and your brain gets some rest, and thanks.
