Firefly! Rec! Friend!

Say hello to my friend, [livejournal.com profile] imnotacommittee. I knew her way back when when I wankishly had another name and was writing The Sound of Music fanfic. She is funny, clever, risque, unfailingly kind, prone to puzzle over bad!fic with good!fic writers, prone to coming up with incredibly witty and sometimes naughty explanations and fillers for the quirks of canon, sparkling, adventurous, obsessive, a fan of Star Wars, someone you could talk to for hours and hours about the hangnail on your pinky, cute, and just plain cool. She hasn't watched BtVS/AtS, but one day I'm going to convert her (only she doesn't know it yet).

These days she's into Firefly. She just wrote a fic in the 'verse called Left Behind. It's post-Serenity ensemble gen, and she handles all the characters' voices well. It's a good solid fic that may tug at your heart or bring a tiny smile to your face. She's just informed me she's giving up everything Firefly for Lent, because she apparently has more self-control than I could ever manage. She might not respond within the next 40 days, but she'll get to you eventually.

Now I'm going to say what someone I admire very much said about me once: new people should be encouraged. Go encourage.

Fantastic rec!! Thank you! As a huge Firefly fan, I'm starting to really get into the fic, and you've just found me a good one!

So glad you enjoyed it. I barely have the time to read the Buffyverse fic I want to read, much less Firefly, but man does this piece make me wish I did.

Hey,

I knew my ears were burning for a reason! Can you see me blushing, my friend, because I am, deeply. You're very sweet, and I'm flattered by the personal and writing praise.

All friends should be like you.

PS - how is that hangnail on your pinky?

Well, it didn't bring as many people to fawn over you as I hope it would, but my list is mostly Buffy fans...Sorry about that! I'm glad you appreciated it anyway.

And my hangnail, well. I could go on for hours!

Hangnails are tricky things. It's amazing how distracting they can be ;-)

Yeah...they can catch on your clothes...and on your papers...and no one knows how they go away!

Love that icon, too!

I love that icon too; they have such chemistry. They're so much cooler than they're given credit for.

I thought of you the other day when I had a hangnail. Nice to be known for something, isn't it!

Did I send you that Harrison Ford interview and Carrie Fisher...essay-thingy? Did I mention it to you? Argh, now I have to go find them.

And now I'm going to think of you whenever I have a hangnail, too. Great. As if I didn't already have enough bizarre connections in my head. :o) :o)

No, I didn't know about the Harrison Ford/Carrie Fisher essays. I'm curious! I remember reading speculation that they had slept together during the filming of ESB - pure fan thoughts and I think hopeful wishes. I never put much thought into it.

Odd connections are fun. Did you ever start off with one thought and it just led to another, completely separate thought that led to another completely separate thought, etc., and then you stop and think "Hey, how did I get to *this*?"

Well, they're not really essays. Carrie Fisher wrote like...a letter, I guess, about signing authographs. The Harrison Ford thing is just a recent interview; I just thought it was interesting. I shall find the links for you, but in a bit, I'm going to Austin tomorrow and get back Wednesday, so I shall dig them up then.

And yeah, odd connections! My ex-roomie was the bestest for them. She'd always be so completely random, then so once she actually TRACED her line of thought (explaining why the color chartreuse reminds her of Al Gore) and it was...so...bizarre.

Wow. Tracing a line of thought; that is fun. One of those scrapbook, remember when moments. And what an odd connection: a color to a politician.

Hope you had fun in Austin. Anything fun in Austin? Hope the fires weren't near you! No rush on the Carrie/Harrison things. Turns out they were quite innocent articles after all. And here I thought it was something scandalous!
