Hi from Texas! There are a million things to say, but I have a million things going on, so I say the most important.

-I rec When All The Years Fill In, Harry/Ginny, by [livejournal.com profile] seraphcelene. Yes, your resident Harry/Draco shipper is reccing Harry/Ginny. This is a very short piece, about why Harry/Ginny don't work. Even though I don't ship Harry/Ginny, and in fact sort of anti-ship them (though you'll never see me bash them, because I love Ginny and used to love the ship very much), this fic made me sort of wish they could work out. Not because they're so right for each other, but because all the ways they're wrong are so realistic and hurty, and I wish our world and living our lives was more of what we dream, you know? The imagery and the insights in this piece are absolutely exquisite.

-I rec The Seduction of Wendy Darling, Peter Pan, by [livejournal.com profile] seraphcelene. I'm not in Peter Pan fandom. Does it have a fandom? Pls to be telling me it does, because one reason I love this fic and am reccing it is because this canon is some seriously twisted shit. As the author makes use of herself, the 2003 movie made use of it too, but it was still marketed for kids, which meant a lot of the twistedness had to remained at least sort of subtle. This author brings all that to the fore. The imagery and language in this is beautiful, too.

Both this and the Harry/Ginny piece are about the realities of growing older and losing the dreams of youth, a concept which is near and dear and wrenching to my heart. Few things I've read have captured the pain and poignancy of it as this author has. Both are short, so if you have a moment, go read and feed.

-I rec [livejournal.com profile] my_daroga as a person and LJ friend. She's one of the best people I've ever met. LJ-wise--check out her photography, which almost always tells it's own story, not just of beauty but of something else besides. She also does movie reviews of interesting films; they're always very insightful and often ironic (and amusing), but also concise and to the point, and they don't spoil. She also does has an awesome sense of humor. When I get her jokes I feel special. Plus she's a Phantom of the Opera BNF and is revitalizing phandom one brick by bloody brick. I love her.

-I'm still posting Go Your Own Way, (Batman) Bruce Wayne/Jim Gordon with lots of dirty talk and daddy kink. I'll tell you when I'm done but I thought I'd remind you. I wonder if now is the best time to post these things, with everyone so busy...may repost the recs again later. Anywho, I like this story. I still don't get it, but I like it.

I . . .
Words fail.

Except that [livejournal.com profile] stoney321 is the most cracked out, ingenius, beloved, morbid, raunchy, disgusting, horrifying, adorable, hilarious, shocking, crazy, witty, losing her grasp on reality and also losing her grip on all other things lame gal I know in like, the whole universe, plus fifty-seven billion.

Also, I totally used this:

all day.

edited, because Stoney is many things, but not lame. However, she does make my grip on lame things like reality, by which I mean other lame things like finding a job and taking out the garbage, tend to slip. It was not a well worded phrase. I'm going on no sleep in the last like 40 hours, here.

ETA2 edited again because I love rhyme. And [livejournal.com profile] terilyn4. You're crazy and you rock.

So, I suck, because I read a post by her only yesterday and still didn't pick up on the fact that it was [livejournal.com profile] stoney321's birthday TODAY. If I'd've know it was comin' I'd've baked a . . . ok, possibly made a card.

The reason is because I love Stoney, and everyone should be celebrating her birth. She is funny, possessed of good taste, a fantastic writer, someone who doesn't put up with shit, smart and insightful, and someone who truly seeks to make fandom a funnier, fun-ner (yes that's a word), classier (yes! Stoney! Classy!) place to be.

And scanning through all this, dying to find her new, funnier, funner, classier use of the word "contrails," I realized there are about a billion fun, entertaining, insightful, smart, wacky posts I haven't even read yet. I guess I'm kinda shocked that there's even more to love. Anyway, to sum up, Stoney is a light in my flist and a funnier friendlier franker friend I couldn't wish for. So, thanks for being born, Stoney.

Say hello to my friend, [livejournal.com profile] imnotacommittee. I knew her way back when when I wankishly had another name and was writing The Sound of Music fanfic. She is funny, clever, risque, unfailingly kind, prone to puzzle over bad!fic with good!fic writers, prone to coming up with incredibly witty and sometimes naughty explanations and fillers for the quirks of canon, sparkling, adventurous, obsessive, a fan of Star Wars, someone you could talk to for hours and hours about the hangnail on your pinky, cute, and just plain cool. She hasn't watched BtVS/AtS, but one day I'm going to convert her (only she doesn't know it yet).

These days she's into Firefly. She just wrote a fic in the 'verse called Left Behind. It's post-Serenity ensemble gen, and she handles all the characters' voices well. It's a good solid fic that may tug at your heart or bring a tiny smile to your face. She's just informed me she's giving up everything Firefly for Lent, because she apparently has more self-control than I could ever manage. She might not respond within the next 40 days, but she'll get to you eventually.

Now I'm going to say what someone I admire very much said about me once: new people should be encouraged. Go encourage.
