It's Lion Turtles all the way down ([personal profile] lettered) wrote2006-04-23 03:45 pm

Just another chapter in La Vie De TKP

I don't care how it sounds, Captain Crunch tastes good in coffee.

Speaking of coffee, remember how I told you my coffee machine sucked? Well, it got better! Aureliano Buendía (that's the coffee machine's name, as he is the son of José Arcadio Buendía) was facing the firing squad, but now he is crafting small gold-lief fish! Or something. Go him! But then I cleaned him and he was watery again, but now better again. The ups and downs of his life, they suit his name.

If you have commented or posted in the past two weeks, I have read it. I just haven't replied because of stuff! Do you like stuff? I like stuff.

I am very excited by the fic(s) I am writing right now. That's good. Fic-writing is a happy thing.

I'm addicted to WEBoggle. It's [livejournal.com profile] entrenous88's fault. I didn't even know about it until her. Now I've got my brother, s-i-l, and mom addicted too. Now that's entertainment! How does the water buffalo fit in again?

I've convinced my BFF (TiFF is her name and she won't get lj but I don't really want her to because then she'll find out I read porn) to watch BtVS/AtS with me. She's always dissing it and she used to diss me for liking it but she stopped that because I stopped letting it bother me. Anyway, so I convinced her to watch ALL OF IT, and I can hardly wait. In fact, I so can't wait that I started and watched S1 again without her. And half of season 2. But that doesn't mean I can't watch them AGAIN. Oh, the B/A. It makes me want to dance a very lively dance that can be danced while sitting down and perhaps sleeping as I am tired. But I have observations! Things I've never observed before! But I'm going to wait to post them until I can throw in some classic TiFF ones too because she's such a hoot. God I love that girl.

Speaking of waiting to post, dude! I have so many things to say to you all (yes, to you! Hello! *squish*) but all of it is half-formed, cookin' in my noggin like so many noodley things al dente. [livejournal.com profile] dovil, if I was an Al I'd be al dente.

[livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue says, if you name drop in your posts, more people comment.

I weeded the gardens today. It was fun to get all dirty and sweaty with the dirt under my nails and I got to see a toad, and wear my hat, the only hat that fits as I have a big head but this particular hat is very cute I swear, BUT, I'm allergic to weeds. And these were very tall weeds as I've been saying I'd weed since February (that's when I weed) and I didn't get around to it til now, so with their tall shoulder-high wispiness they kept brushing my face and very-risqué-only-for-bed-and-the-yard-camisole, and with their lovers' touch they have marked me forever more. I have red welts everywhere. I thought they went away but they are still here; just pink.

You know what I like about Spike? Is I don't think he's very fickle. I know this guy, and he's such a great guy, like part of our family almost, and he keeps having very bad luck in love. And a lot of the time, the way he thinks reminds me of Spike, not the way he acts, or his personality, but just kind of his approach to life, it's a Spikean personality. Except for the fickle thing. He changes his mind too often for me. It's partly because I tend to be a bit plodding, and partly because I'm a bit of a luddite in some fashion, and partly because I'm HORRIBLY stubborn, but I just don't think I change my mind about things very often. That's a lot different from being close-minded, or not seeing other points of view, but I don't know, I think I am perhaps overly obsessed with consistency.

SPEAKING OF SPIKE. There was an argument today with friends and family and it was getting old so I said, "Spike's cock rocks my clock", and then realized I said it aloud. Oops. But then there was discussion about Spike's cock, which is always good.

SPEAKING OF SPIKE'S COCK, season one of Angel is the only one I'm sure of in a rating 1 through 5, 1 being best season and 5 being not the best season, I give it a not the best season. There are some really great eps in it, but it's the only season where the main thread of the narrative doesn't make me say, guh, this is the best season, because there really was no narrative thread in S1; they were still figuring everything out. Also, Doyle. He's cute and he's Irish and he does this head thing in IWRY when he's talking about what B/A may or may not be doing downstairs, and Angel loves him I think, but I just can't like him very much for some reason.

I saw that movie with Antonio Banderas. I am a sucker for cheesy dancing movies, I think. It was extremely lame and I was very entertained.

That's it, folks. I'm tired. Plus, I wanted to use the word "folks."

ETA: dictionary.com says fickle means changeableness but especially as it relates to "affections or attachments", and that's what I meant as far as Spike goes. Still, I wish I hadn't written that now, because it has a ring of "huh?" considering how often Spike decides to do one thing but does another.

You may be a saint of tolerance and love, for I do not put up with people trashing BtVS. No, no I do not. Although my friends do not really attempt this, for I am scary and intimidating. Um, yeah.

SPEAKING OF SPIKE. There was an argument today with friends and family and it was getting old so I said, "Spike's cock rocks my clock", and then realized I said it aloud. Oops. But then there was discussion about Spike's cock, which is always good.

Dude! Your family! Mine would have *no* idea what I was talking about and the layers of explanation it would require would be like a mobius onion that I was peeling. Also! I totally resisted saying this same phrase today with my friends while having a "discussion" about the general lack of male frontal nudity in our visual culture.

I too, am a sucker for cheesy dancing movies. Really, there are few things that I like better than people dancing in movies. Even choreographed group dancing. Perhaps especially then.

It's not so much a tolerance thing as a --well yeah, it is a tolerance thing. She doesn't understand how obsessive I get, and I think it really bothers her on some level. I'm pretty used to that, so yeah, that's how come fandom! Shiny! Pretty! *clings*

Well so, the friend with us, didn't even bother asking who Spike was; he was too mortified that I said the word "cock." Then my mom wanted to know whether I'd ever SEEN Spike's cock, and my dad wanted to know if the sites I'm always looking at online had PICTURES of Spike's cock. I snorfled at that and went with "no", as all the pictures I've seen aren't REALLY Spike's cock. THEN, my mom said, "I bet it's not all that impressive. Not as much as Angel's anyway. He's such a little guy." Then I mentioned as to how I HAD seen Angel's cock, and she said, "You didn't share THAT site with me", and I explained about These Girls, and she wanted to know whether it was worth taking a look? I mentioned as to how it was all blurry down there and did she want me to email her the pics? And she said "no! I'll get fired!" She teaches at a highschool and that's where her email address goes. HAHAHAHHA. Then the men were very silent.

I don't know why, but dancing does it for me. I am not always down with singing. I despise plenty of movie musicals. But muted, I would watch them happily. 7 Brides for 7 Brothers! Oh, excellent.

And there totally is a lack of male frontal nudity. I've seen quite a few R general release movies with female frontal nudity. I don't think I've EVER seen one with full male frontal nudity. Is cock that much more offensive than pussy? Enquiring minds want to know.

Hey Al-dente! It's true! As soon as you drop someone's name in they are totally obligated to comment back! In fact one day I'm going to do a post entirely made up off all the names from my flist just to get a boat load of attention whoring comments!

'Stuff' is very cool, and so is the word 'folks'. Also ice and a chilly wind is also cool, but that goes without saying. But not without typing.

I nod your head at your observations, and even though you're not Spike's Cock (though you're very articulate if you are, and dexterous, again with the typing) you still rock my clock.

That was my first thought too, when Sue pointed out how people feel obligated to comment if you mention them.

You can't reach my head from way over there. Also, if I'm Spike's Cock, you nodding my head reaches a whole new level of "Uuuungh, right there!" What's the deal with u's and n's and g's and h's in moans of pleasure, anyway?

You rock my clock too. It's six in the morning and you're here to talk to! Huzzah for different time zones.

The regular Capt Crunch. I've never had the other flavors. In fact, the first time I had Capt Crunch was in college. I'd always wanted to try it and I never got to and I was in heaven.

Antonio CRACKS MY SHIT UP. Seriously, I can't watch him without bursting into spontaneous laughter. Style and taste don't rate as high as full belly laughs.

I choo choo choooooose you! And it has a train on it.

I actually like Eliot better. While I love Shakespeare it is a removed, non-personal kind of love. Hamlet does come the closest to touching me in a personal way, but it is so...overwhelming. You see why I self identify with Eliot?

Oooh, two references! Do I comment twice? Ask CDS, because apparently she's making the rules around here now. She's mad with power, I tell you.

God, the WEBoggle is so awful in its addictiveness! Because you start thinking, "liberalssux!", you're going down, and it becomes this whole mess of political alliances in addition to finding the word AGAR.

And I am very pleased that you used "Spike's cock rocks my clock" in conversation. I feel like there's tendrils of Spike-cock-thinking reaching around the world, and we're all connected. Heeee, that sounds vaguely gross. Still!

I'm going to re-start [livejournal.com profile] episodic_buffy this week, so if you're watching eps you might want to check it out and jump in the conversation. Of course it doesn't seem like the best time to rev that up right now with work and other issues, but I've decided there's never going to be a good time, so I'm just going to charge onward.

I love about half the eps a whole whole lot. The other half, imo, are actually some of the worst in the whole 'verse. They plod in a way BtVS rarely did for me.

Yeah! I like the rush. I like the crunch. I never did look back at the victims.

I am actually feeling very positive about it. Lately it has been so good. I started getting all loving and affectionate toward the machine, stroking it as I walked by, occasionally referring to it as "snookums", that sort of thing, so I decided to lovingly give it a bath. Aureliano did NOT like vinegar, and threw a tantrum, but now he is behaving. It's possibly my batting eyelashes and copious crying and that time I threatened to smash it and feed it to the other appliances. It is not a brave snookums, like the toaster.

Yeah! Once a while ago I asked whether I was the only one who felt guilty for not liking Doyle all that much, and everyone said, we wouldn't know! We love Doyle!

I mean, I love how Angel and Cordy felt about him, and his influence on their lives, and how even up til S5 he was so important to them, and how I think he was Angel's first real friend. And it's sad he died and that the actor died and it's all a big tragedy, really.

But I still don't like him all that much.

Well, you *know* I'm gonna comment when Spike's cock's making its wee gargantuan presence known.

You sound giddy. It's good to see you here.

I like movie musicals and stuff, but only certain ones. I didn't see the Banderas movie, and I probably won't, but I love Fred Astaire et al even though nobody understands me. He's so little and out of place and adorable, I can't help it! And his singing is pleasantly not that good, which I also approve of.

I watched some of Angel S1. But then I stopped.

It's fun to re-watch with the uninitiated. It gives you an excuse to watch again too. So it's less like wasting time. Or something.

No match for Angel's MASSIVE BUTTOCKS.

I was giddy. I get giddy late at night. How have you been? I strangely miss you! I have been ghosting aorund lj like--well, a ghost! So I haven't replied to many of your posts.

I actually like very few movie musicals. Which is surprising to me because two of my most dear fandoms involve musicals in some way.

I've actually never seen a Fred Astaire movie. Isn't that criminal? But I get what you mean about him being so little and out of place. I had this picture of Astaire in my head, before I ever saw him, and he was very...I don't know, Clark Gable, and his name rhymes with debonair, you know? But then I saw him and I was like, THIS is the guy? Huh. But then the more I watched him (in clips and stuff; I've seen a lot of clips) the more I felt like...so graceful and smooth, and strangely modest, the world is no place for him. And now I want to see an Astaire movie more than ever!

You've seen the rest of AtS though, right?

Heh. Yes. Exactly! Except I think my friend won't like it. Our tastes are so divergent. I think she likes realism.

This post is a plethora of random wonderfulness. I refuse to begin WEBoggle, as I've been hooked on enough games now located on the net. Yay for making new people watch our dead gay shows! I'm sorry for what the weeds did to you. I can't imagine how my family would react if I let out a "Spike's cock rocks my clock". They have no idea how deep my obsession runs in the first place, or what exactly I'm doing when I'm online for so long, and would probably be utterly scandalized at the idea of me thinking about a fictional character's cock. Your family is totally cool! I think I'm skipping the Banderas dancing movie... for now.

I use the word "folks" IRL too much for my own good.

Yeah, I'm way too addicted to some games. Though my addiction to other games has fallen away in the face of boggle. It's always been my favorite game, and now there are people to PLAY WITH ME without me having to twist arms and kick shins. Neat!

My family is completely cool! However, they don't know how much time I spend doing fandom things, either. It's a great shame of mine, because I really should be working.

I don't recommend the Banderas movie to anyone. Unless you find him as amusing as I do, then go right ahead!

I wish I used "folks" more irl. I always forget. Instead I call everyone "kids".

Thanks, and me too!

Yes! But I hate how itchy I get. I don't think I'm cut out for the world of gardening.

I love some eps in S1. Heroes and Sonambulist and City of and To Sanshu in LA and Blind Date and War Zone and In The Dark and the Prodigal and Parting Gifts and both the ones with Faith Eternity. But there are some I just find incredibly dull, like I Fall To Pieces and Bachelor Party and Expecting and She.

My friend has seen parts of BtVS, but really sporadically, so she knows just about everything that happens; she just doesn't know all the little things. I think she is more into plots than characters, more into realism than metaphor. I get that. But I still want her to like BtVS/AtS!

Reading the comments I find that your mother is so totally cool, and that we share a love of 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. The dancing, that is. Do you also love West Side Story?

Although, the plotline in 7 Brides made me want to pick up some of that barn-raising material and brain the menfolk with it...

There's a good use of that word folk for you.

I shall point out that if you were a tea drinker, you wouldn't be having this battle with the coffee maker. You'd have a peaceful morning with the electric kettle, a teapot, and lovely tea leaves... Mmmm.

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the dancing in West Side Story, especially the whole opening number. It does NOT get better than that. But as a movie I hate it. I find the story of Romeo and Juliet intensely dull anyway and I felt like this musical just made it that more insipid. The thing about 7 Brides... is that the plot is SO completely ridiculous, so brain the menfolk worthy, that I think it's *fun*. It's thoroughly entertaining to watch, whether you're rolicking along *with* it or laughing *at* it. South Pacific is that way, even though there isn't really good dancing in that one. It's just stupid (imo) so I like it. West Side Story tries to be too serious; it's a failing indeed for I cannot laugh at it. Which is a shame, because I dearly like to ask.

Excellent use of the word folk!

And ha! HAHAHAHHA! I've had just as much DRAMA with tea as I have with coffee. When I use bags I leave them in for too long. My tea balls leak. And before I had tea balls, I tried to filter my tea through a paper towel and got hot water all over myself, and then I was drinking tea out of a cereal bowl (kinda fun, actually) with stuff FLOATING in it.

I can create drama out of nothing. Physical object conspire against me.

Cheesy dance movies are the best! Good to hear it was entertaining even if it was lame. I want to see Akeelah and the Bee because it looks uplifting, and I like Morpheus, er Lawrence Fishburne.

Gardening sounds so earthy. Too bad Edward Ferrars didn't come up the road and surprise you with a marriage proposal. Oh, that's right: you like Colonal Brandon. Well, who wouldn't when he's reading poetry like a super stud?

Good to hear your coffee machine is all better. Life's little pleaures make the world go round.

There were two spelling bee movies advertised recently, and I can't remember which was which, because I thought one looked cute and the other looked awful. The one with Richard Gere looked awful. I like Morpheus. Though the Akeelah advertising at Starbucks has been driving me nuts. They have all these spelling words floating around, but without definitions, and they're obscure words, so I don't know what most of them mean! But I was very self-satisfied to learn that the general populance doesn't know the word "antediluvian".

Oh, Colonel Brandon. I wrote a paper about how he was really closer to Marianne's ideal than anyone ever accused him of being; i.e., I wrote a proof that he actually IS a super stud. But it is true that he does not have Hugh Grant's hair, and I know how you love that floppy quality.

I'm glad you're reading and liking Beauty! I wouldn't expect anything to complex out of it; it's just a really fun story, I think.

Hi! Hi! I'm glad your coffee machine is fixed! Although I am a tea drinker, I understand the importance of good coffee.

I like stuff! I'm a big fan of stuff. Especially that stuff that, you know, goes well with other stuff.

Yay for BtVS rewatching and getting your friend hooked! I've been wanting to do a re-watch but keep not having the time. I occasionally will watch episodes as research for fanfic, that's my favourite form of research!

There was an argument today with friends and family and it was getting old so I said, "Spike's cock rocks my clock", and then realized I said it aloud. Oops. heeee! That's awesome! I'd never be able to do that with my family. My mom and I are very close but we never talk about sex.

I agree with you about AtS S1. Although there's things I enjoy, it's definintely the weakest season. It's so clear they're still figuring out the shape of the show, and don't have a narrative thread. I'm also not that into Doyle, I like his character and cry at his death, and find it incredibly sad about the actor's death. However I've always been baffled at the love for his character and for Hero. I really like the episode but it never had the impact on me as it did for many other fans (perhaps I'm distracted by the obvious metaphor). Although, I've found that my favourite AtS episodes are very different from other fans (I'm also not enamoured with Are You Now or ... I really like the episode, but it never occurs to me to put it in a top 10 list).

Oh, and Spike and Xander's cocks rock my clock!!

I'm so glad Aureliano is better, too!

My cat's breath smells like catfood.

I don't think I'll get my friend addicted. I just hope I'll get her to respect the shows. I have this weird problem with watching the shows out of order. There's only been a few times when I've said gee, I need to research, or I really wanna see Wishverse!Buffy or Peterpan!Connor or Pack!Xander. I'm afraid if I watch the shows too much I'll get tired of them. That's sad!

My family and I don't really talk about sex that much, but I do talk about it a lot more in general since getting an lj, since lotsa people on lj have this prediliction for porn, and they talk so openly about it, which is nice, and I sometimes find it difficult to talk differently to different people.

I really really like the ep Hero, but it doesn't have super special significance for me. I'm not sure I've actually seen that much talk about other fans' favorite AtS eps. I really *love* Are You Now... I think it's an incredibly well-crafted show, tight plot, awesome character history/insights, nice set set-up, wonderful themes...but no, not my favorite either, mostly because it's not part of any of the central arcs. I love the plot arcs in AtS, and so the eps I love best are generally those with really significant events, like Reprise and Lullaby.
