Also, [dwight] question [/dwight]: Is it possible to post something on a delay so that it automatically posts in the future? For instance, for daily_words, I thought it'd be possible to make all the posts on the weekends and have the posts automatically post themselves each morning. Semagic has a queue feature where you can line posts up, and you can adjust the dates, but it doesn't post them on those dates. It just posts when you click "post" and the posts show up on the journal and in people's friendslists as if they were just made, even though the dates on them are future dates.

I know of no way to automatically set up posts in advance to show up when you want them to. I have never used Semagic's queue thingy, but when one backdates posts on LJ, what has happened in the past is those posts don't show up at all on friends lists (even if you scroll back through that date looking for them) - people don't see them unless they happen to go to the journal proper. Somehow they're excluded from the flist view. Unless LJ changed that, but I haven't heard anything.

There's a way of setting posts in queue via Semagic. I've used it once or twice, but I admit I'm not entirely clear what has to be in place for it to work. I sort of think you need to have an internet connection that's on all the time, or at least at the time you want the queued post to go live, *and* Semagic needs to be open/active at that time for it to work.

Yeah, the dating thing is really confusing. I don't understand why anyone would use it except for a private journal whose posts they want to organize in a particular order, or like for the sticky posts we future date.

I've used the Semagic queue thing, but I guess am not understanding something because when I tell it to post something on some set future date, it posts it immediately. Oy! Thanks for the input, though.
