Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves. You're one of the warmest, kindest, most thoughtfulest, funniest, creativist, one-look-at-you-makes-me-feel-betterist,-even-though-we've-never-met-est people I know. Have a good one, toots. With CAKE.

*

Also, [dwight] question [/dwight]: Is it possible to post something on a delay so that it automatically posts in the future? For instance, for [livejournal.com profile] daily_words, I thought it'd be possible to make all the posts on the weekends and have the posts automatically post themselves each morning. Semagic has a queue feature where you can line posts up, and you can adjust the dates, but it doesn't post them on those dates. It just posts when you click "post" and the posts show up on the journal and in people's friendslists as if they were just made, even though the dates on them are future dates.

Pls I can has help?

SOOPER SEKRIT MESSIJ: HAI THAR [livejournal.com profile] jadntonic; YIS THIS IS ME!!! Can my cousin come with us Friday? She's 19 and just visiting. Will talk to you later.

[livejournal.com profile] my_daroga, you are a special one. For you are insightful and thoughtful and I know I can always share both my thinky and personal thoughts with you. And you are beautiful and kind and care and stuff. Plus you are original and different and creative and inspiring in that way. You are in my thoughts often. You're a dear friend, and I am a pile of mush.
lettered: (Default)
I don't know if she's around to see, but everyone should know this: [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue is a spectacular person, in a fannish sense, in a good hearted person sense, in an orange sense, in a good taste sense, in a talented sense, in a fuzzy feel good sense. She margaritas my Mexican dinner, and I'm glad she was born.
lettered: (Default)
Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ros_fod, who is so cute in her squee, and so thought-provoking in her observations, and resourceful and informative in her Vinnie-love, and talented in her phraseology/metaphor/writing stuff, and beautiful in her life.

I hope you get cake and things with bows.
lettered: (Default)
[livejournal.com profile] femmenerd, you a la mode my pie in so many ways, I don't even know how to say. But I'll give it a start:

1. Sending me 4 a.m. pics of Jared and Jenson and who knows what; it's actually all kinda hazy, now.
2. You are just as excited about looking at pretty girls as you are about...power issues as they pertain to sexual identity. You get all jazzed up about slumming around watching old tv shows, and bubble over with a similar enthusiasm over...feminist theory as applied to readings of specific texts. Especially when the texts are like, episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You are all the sheer ebullience I long for in academia, with none of the pretension or assholism.
3. You're a damn fine writer. To whom I can talk to. About writing. These two things don't always go hand in hand. Also. I like your paragraph structures.
4. I bet if I met you you wouldn't smell too bad.
5. You are loving in a rare way. It appears effortless to you, and easy, and joyful, and open-minded, and insightful, a bunch of other good stuff which I don't really know how to describe except that it makes me feel kinda uplifted when I see a post or comment by you.
6. You like wine. I like wine. We should have a party, some day.

There's more, like how well you punctuate and how hard you fall for things and how pretty I think your hair is and how I really like the green color on your lj, but it could get creepy, so I'll stop. Eat cake!

No, really. Eat cake. NOW.
lettered: (Default)
You should be getting a little something in the mail, but I didn't get it sent until Friday so it will be late. It's not big and might be odd to you, but anyway, happy birthday!

[livejournal.com profile] kita0610, you make me happy. You write excellent fic, make great recs, find cool people, and really keep things jazzed with your enthusiasm and snark. But my favorite thing about you, fandom-wise, is that you have a really unique point of view. I think I've said it before, but whenever I talk to you I feel like my brain is getting sparked to go in brand new direction; I see things I haven't before and it's not only entertaining; it makes me feel good. Like about myself and stuff.

And that's what's my favorite thing about you real life-wise, too. You bring that perspective to your interactions with others, the people you love, and what's going on in the world. And sometimes I get new insight into ways of approaching things and people and life and I know this is really cheesy but it's true. Sappy birthday! Thanks for well, living ;o)
lettered: (Default)
I had no idea your birthday was today! I almost missed it! Or I did miss it, in your neck of the woods . . . punctuality is the bane of my existence.

I really actually *can't* count the ways, but here are some reasons [livejournal.com profile] lostakasha really doubleshots my mocha:
1. You have a sense of humor that is flagrant, unashamed and devastatingly forthright. You say what you think and you do what you please, but you never make the mistake of taking unserious things too seriously.
2. You write thoughtful, meta-heavy fic that makes me see the characters in new ways. You write fic thick with metaphor and ways of phrasing things I never would've thought of. You write really hot fic, too. Sometimes (often) you do all three at once.
3. You keep on truckin'. You smile when you can, and your chin is still up when you can't.
4. Brillo balls.
5. You love with enthusiasm, and throw yourself into things you're interested in, and you have *fun* with your inner fire. I think that's so very important.
6. You metatate with me! Sometimes I wish I could sit down in a room with you and mine your brain for all your interesting thoughts on Buffyverse characters, and then all your thoughts on any other characters ever, and then on writing or living or watching grass grow. 'Cause with you, I bet even that would be interesting!
7. I could go on!
lettered: (Default)
Sliding in just under the wire (my time, which is a cheat), but I hope you had a happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] dlgood. I owe many things to you: a very cool experience in Galveston, some enlightened perceptions regarding Buffy, Angel, and Angelus, and some good laughs and nods-along at your humorous and/or insightful posts. Not to mention owe-in-a-different-way that brochure, the best cookies ever and fb! But I hope today, you had cake, and got sung at by some very rowdy people with hats, and got at least three presents. With bows. That someone made you put on your head. And someone else took a picture of. A sombrero and complimentary flan at least? If you got a pony instead, it would be okay too. Hope it was good!

*slips in last minute*

[livejournal.com profile] violaclaire's a jolly good fellow.

I wish I was better with birthdays. I wish I was better at keeping in touch! Which shouldn't be hard on lj but it *is*. I have your IWRY fic saved up to read and I look forward to it. You rock like a gravelly object, the Beatles, that Hudson guy, and also that Oliver guy if you want to get all Sharon about it; the pun was "Stone" there; like a Rolling One. Alright so that doesn't make sense, but I wish you frosting, candles, a badly sung song, and a talking tree. Because who doesn't want a talking tree? I feel that you would, particularly. This is just my feeling, not a judgment on you. Well actually, it kinda is, but it's a good thing, really. At least, you know, in my opinion. The opinion of the one I am.
lettered: (Default)
C. Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] stultiloquentia! She's an excellent writer and thinker and wit, and she makes me incredibly happy when ever I see her soup can. That was not a dirty innuendo.
I. The IWRY Marathon kicked off today! The story is Letters, by Jo ([livejournal.com profile] librarian2003). I haven't read it yet, but I'm really excited because Jo's a fabulous writer. She's one of the first Jossverse fic authors I've ever read! So hop to it, kids!
N. Tomorrow [livejournal.com profile] lostakasha posts. She wrote B/A, y'all. I'm aquiver with excitement.
D. Does anybody know what happened to Spy!Daddy? I mean, that show, Justice, that used to come on after Bones?
E. Speaking of Bones, this ep was a little hard to watch for me because sometimes every woman I know seems so intent on changing themselves, especially getting thinner. It makes me sad. Also, I'm doing this writing thing where I have to do body modification research, and it's really icky. Like, some of the photos I looked at, with men and 19" waists. I think that's why I'm nauseous.
R. On the other hand, DB. Fuck, that man's arms. No, seriously. I'd do 'em.
E. S4 of AtS OWNS me. It owns me like an owning thing. And long, woe-is-me, what-am-I-now, on-and-on, in-the-church monologues, which JM and that whole scene just, I'm sorry, utterly lamed up for me, VK and that whole other scene made shiny and new for me.
L. Did you guys know T.J. Thyne (Hodgins from Bones) was on AtS?
L. I hate Angel's hair at the beginning of S5. And his clothes.
A. On Oprah, Denzel Washington talked about the art of a single perfect tear.
! Do you guys think Baltar, Joaquin Phoenix, and VK have an uncanny ability to cry?
lettered: (Default)
[livejournal.com profile] a2zmom, you are the sunshine in my sky, the apple in my pie, the single perfect tear in Angel's eye, the sweet in a sorrowful goodbye, the platinum of Spike's hairdye, the woman in my guy (yeah I don't know), the truth in every lie (that doesn't even sound positive), the life that gets me high (now that sounds a little too positive), the roastbeef on my rye (ok, now I'm hungry), the longing in every sigh, the alcohol in Colonel Tigh? Yeah I could go on forever with this.

THINGS THAT ANNOY ME ABOUT A2ZMOM.
1. Whenever I go to write meta it's always, [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom said this, a2z said that. I get tired of writing the lj user stuff over and over.
2. She can always say in 10 words what it takes me a 100 to say, and she always knows what I mean anyway.
3. She lives too far away from me.
4. She won't let me make a fairy Spike to put in her miniature greenhouse.
5. Even when I've completely convinced myself of something, she can always make me see her objection. And she's always right.

But other than that, [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom is caring, discerning, enlightening, helpful, enthusiastic, thinky, generous, hilarious, talented, and snarky. She's actually much much more but it took me a long time to find that last link so I quit. This woman, she emailed me once a week for half a year just to remind me to watch "Bones". I love her and am so glad I met her. I hope work shapes up, that you get some sleep, that you feel better, that you eat yummy cake, and have a happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom.

p.s. I'm going to send you something one day but I haven't sent it yet so uh, it's going to be late. Really late. And don't get excited, it's not that special, but you are.
lettered: (Default)
I'm stale, old, mouse-eaten dry cheese. Also, lame.

For being late for [livejournal.com profile] romanyg's birthday. I wish you a great big old fat cake that is not actually old, and flowers, and balloons, and also fireworks--if you point Roman candles at the streetlamps, sometimes they go out because they think it's daylight. That's my birthday tip of the day. Also, a tea cozy. I don't know what a tea cozy is, but I wish one for you on this very special day.

Thanks for keeping lj land cozy.

Get it? Cozy?
lettered: (Default)
Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] semby! You're one of the first people I met lj, and I've never regretted it. Except for that one time when you flamed me and I called you a whore and we fought and then made up but then you had my boyfriend's baby and it was an alien and it vomitted on my shoe, but that didn't really happen so I forgive you completely for it, unless you want to buy me new shoes. Um, what I'm trying to say is I'm really glad to know you.
lettered: (Default)
So, I suck, because I read a post by her only yesterday and still didn't pick up on the fact that it was [livejournal.com profile] stoney321's birthday TODAY. If I'd've know it was comin' I'd've baked a . . . ok, possibly made a card.

The reason is because I love Stoney, and everyone should be celebrating her birth. She is funny, possessed of good taste, a fantastic writer, someone who doesn't put up with shit, smart and insightful, and someone who truly seeks to make fandom a funnier, fun-ner (yes that's a word), classier (yes! Stoney! Classy!) place to be.

And scanning through all this, dying to find her new, funnier, funner, classier use of the word "contrails," I realized there are about a billion fun, entertaining, insightful, smart, wacky posts I haven't even read yet. I guess I'm kinda shocked that there's even more to love. Anyway, to sum up, Stoney is a light in my flist and a funnier friendlier franker friend I couldn't wish for. So, thanks for being born, Stoney.

Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] germaine_pet!

It's such a wonderful thing to be able to admire a person's personality as well as her talent. I love both in you, Lynne. I can never decide which of the two is the handsomest; I was awake all last night trying to figure it out.
lettered: (Default)
Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves! You rock my world. But not literally because then my world would have more craters in it. That one in Arizona, that one in Sunnydale they would be nothing to this earth if you were really a stoner. And then I can't really imagine you toking it up anyway and this is a bit of a babble. But. You rock, like a boulder, like a very well-proportioned rocking chair, like The Beatles, like the wrestler guy who was in that Mummy movie, like dolomite, like the Chris who hosted the Oscars, like the land under St. Peter's, like the casbah, like Hudson the actor, like third from the sun, like I'm all out of puns here, sorry.

You, Chrislee, are never going to hear the end of love from me. And even though I've already expressed reasons as to why, here are some more.

-Reading [livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves' posts or comments feels to me like someone is pulling you aside, taking the time to be nice to you, and interested in you. I think that's kind of a hard feeling to create on lj, but I think she does it.
-Her David Boreanaz love comes complete with pictures, descriptions, anecdotes, squee, and fic. Can't ask for more, really.
-She's eloquent. Whether she's talking about her personal life, fandom, writing a fic, or sending you and email, reading what she has to say always feels rich--intelligent, well-phrased, open-minded. Even her squee.
-She loves B/A with the undying love that I do.
-She's pretty.
-It's part of the warm and kind and generous thing I think I mentioned above, but she is really really encouraging me as far as writing goes, both by example of her own fics and by her continuing support.
-She's classy. I think the number one word for [livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves is classy. She stirs up great discussion, writes great fic, (meets DB!), does all kinds of fandom things, but never seems to have any "trace of wrath or wrong about her." I possibly just made that quote up, but anyway, it's true. Chrislee is the face you want to show those crazies who don't know what fandom is. She's also the person you want to curl up with on a rainy day to drink tea and drool over our so-over shows with while making semi-incoherent croons of lust and love.

[livejournal.com profile] l_aurens! Hi! It's her birthday! I want her to get a pony! And cake! And a very well meaning belly dancer who is not my sister-in-law who is wearing belly bells! And a trampoline! And ice cream! And an earnest well wish from an extremely dead poet! And a kudzu! Because everyone should have a kudzu, but [livejournal.com profile] l_aurens is not everyone. First of all, she is too small.

She is also singular! Get it? Okay I guess I'll have to explain. Here's why:

1. She's a phan! But not the sort of fan of Phantom of the Opera who insists on spelling everything with a ph. Or has nominated Erik and Christine as eternal woobie teddy bears for life and beyond, where there is only cuddling. She likes her Erik skinny and scary and nose-lacking. Also, the Persian. There's not enough Persian appreciation, but [livejournal.com profile] l_aurens has it in spades. And in hearts and diamonds and other small trowels!
2. She's introspective in a deep down soul-searching way.
3. She seems to think that Spike's spectacularly small popsicle privates could defeat the amazing awesomeness of Angel's alabaster and alliterative anus.
4. Photography, thy name is someone famous I've probably never heard of. But [livejournal.com profile] l_aurens's photography is not only beautiful and sometimes soothing and sometimes fun, it's so...cathartic to see her discover it, contemplate it, attempt to understand it, improve on it--not just in a technical sense but on an emotional and sometimes even metaphysical level.
5. She has interesting things to say about sexuality, gender, vibes of genderfucking, etc. Christine Daae in pants! Yay! Spike as femal Peter O'Toole! Uh...huh? Yay!
6. You know how some people say, let's agree to disagree. Then keep arguing/trying to change your mind? [livejournal.com profile] l_aurens doesn't do either. She says, "hey! We disagree! Cool. Let's discuss." And thereafter follows some of the most entertaining and insightful discussion you can get with two cents, two shakes, and twenty-two years of trying to have such conversation but usually falling flat on your face with a certain sort of mud-covered ignominy not exclusive to shipper wars, f_w, and American politics.

And one to grow on:

7. She's cute!

Is it really [livejournal.com profile] kita0610's birthday? How do people find these things out?

Anyway, happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] kita0610. And, because I'm mushy like that, 5 Reasons You Float My Boat are:
1. You loved on and recced my first ever finished Jossverse fanfic, which made me feel kinda famous.
2. You'll flash VK's dick without much provocation.
3. You proved wrong my erstwhile opinion that certain things just can't be achieved in text, and made me a better writer just by having read you.
4. You're like Xander's Cock with wings, in a way, and I believe in you.
5. I think you're a good, loving, and strong person.
6. There are so many reasons you keep my cheesewheel cranked I thought there should be more than 5.
lettered: (Default)
1. Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] violaclaire, who apparently, may share a birthday with Mary Queen of Scots.

2. Did you all know that NC-17 is supposed to mean (according to the MPAA) those under 17 and 17-yr-olds shouldn't be watching/reading? I always thought it was just those under 17.

3. I won an award! Best drama, for the IWRY Marathon, for my fic Bodiless Within The Bodies! And omigawd I got cool graphics! ). Thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves, [livejournal.com profile] canadiangirl_86, and the three mystery readers.

4. Also thanks again to everyone who participated in the IWRY Marathon. I have not read all the stories yet, but I certainly mean to (and I know I'll be rereading many!), and I'm really looking forward to it. Also, another big public OMG I love you to [livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves, who made this marathon so wonderful this year.

5. Also, big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] terilyn4 who nominated Best Souvenir for best WIP at the When The Sun Sets Awards. It was the first time a fanfic of mine got nominated for anything, and I feel truly honored.

6. I liked S/B on BtVS. Nevertheless, you won't see me reccing Spuffy very often. Now go read [livejournal.com profile] stultiloquentia's fic. It's just . . . fun. Like fanfic should be.

ETA: Stulti has just reminded me that we should hassle her non-stop for B/A pr0n. Go. Go hassle. (I've adjusted the link so you guys can read above the cut, the part where she says, "I have B/A pr0n; come hassle me chickies!")

7. Dear Granny, I am a slut. )
