Drabble: Doctor Who/Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Title: Dangerous Angels
Summary: Buffy Summers and Martha Jones, aka BIG DAMN HEROES.
A/N: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] seraphcelene for the prompt.

Dangerous Angels

Blood, a blink, brings to life still statues: pillars of faith, gargoyles of fable. They were everything that wasn’t, that could never be, friezes of fantasy. Now, unfrozen, they kill dreams with proof.

You think you fight for truth, but every proof of reality, realer than it was before, is your enemy. Your true champion is lies, lies that children may lie in bed and close their eyes, dreaming Hell-demons and Masters of evil are only real in slumber.

You save the world so they may forget.

Tell loved ones to close their eyes.

To yourself you say, don’t blink.

Okay. Made of win. Dude, way to go with the pressure!!

This was awesome. I love the repetition and the layers. It reminds me very much of call and response. Loved the phrase "gargoyles of fable" and the line "You save the world so they may forget."

Lovely, lovely, lovely!

Hee! Thanks! But don't feel pressured! It's so we can loosen up!

Martha Jones spent a year saving the world, and then everyone (except the Doctor and Capt Jack) forgot anything happened. Not that the general public even knew SHE was the one who saved the world in the first place. I <3 her so much.

Jeez ... limbering up is hard work. I'm sure that it doesn't help that I'm trying to watch Atonement at the same time. It's surpisingly enthralling (to use your word). :)

I wanted to write Basilisk Gennosuke fic, but couldn't think of anything suitably clever.

Anyway, voila!

Your next challenge, should you choose to accept it, is:

and she loves me, she's waiting for me

use it however you choose, any fandom.

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Done!

Your next challenge is:

battle ballerina

Use it in any way you like, in any fandom you like!

wham, bam!

How about giving a whirl at:

a rabble of butterflies

any fandom you like, any context, but somewhere in the text you have to use the phrase.
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-06-03 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I broke the rules; it's not a drabble. But I figure since the idea was to get us writing, it's okay? Sorry it took so long; I realized I could write a novel with the subject matter I picked on that. In fact, I just might! It'd be cool to write something about the incarnations of Persephone--Eve, Snow White, Beauty from Beauty and the Beast, a 19th c. woman, a modern woman. Anywho.

Ok your turn!

When they close their eyes, what do they see?

You don't have to include that line, but you have to include the concept and answer(s) to the question. Can be any fandom or character(s) (it doesn't have to be a "they"--it can be a he, she, or it as well).

Aces. Really, I never thought of the connection, but it's totally apt and now makes so much sense. And an excellent theme, that the biggest things you fight against are the things that no one's ever going to thank you for, because the whole point is that you kept them from happening.

Beautifully done, especially this:

Your true champion is lies, lies that children may lie in bed and close their eyes, dreaming Hell-demons and Masters of evil are only real in slumber.

Gorgeous language and imagery.

Thanks. Made by the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] hesadevil. I needed an icon from that ep. It was just so brilliantly creepy.

"Don't blink." I melt. I never have anything coherent to say about your work because you make me squee in incoherent thinky thoughts. You should do more writings, because they are made of win. Oh and also: Sally Sparrow!
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-05-28 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I like how the thinky thoughts come out as squee. Usually people do one or the other!

I loved Sally Sparrow, and that whole ep.

[identity profile] essie007.livejournal.com 2008-05-28 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well some thinky thoughts inspire squee, but then the squee impairs my ability to express the thinky thoughts. It's a vicious cycle.

That ep was made of so much win. I want more Sally Sparrow.

Oh, well done! I never realized how much Martha and Buffy have in common. Lovely!

Lovely imagery. Loved Blink, loved how you drew me back to consider both heroines.
