Short B/A centric fic is currently kicking my ass, so I find solace in TV.

I recently watched season 1-3 of "24". A friend of mine who got me started in on AtS said it was a good show and brought me S1. I currently hate him for wasting my life. Also, a2zmom mentioned a) you could drive a truck through the plot holes, and b) nothing has any consequences, and c) it's still fun. She was right on all 3 counts.

Since I wasted 72 hours or something of my life watching it, I thought I'd share my opinions. Thus follows the good and the bad and the ugly of season 1-3.



Season 1

Downside: Plot holes. The last 12 hours. Kim Baur. Amnesia. Nina Myers being evil. Tony Almeida’s lower lip.
Cool bits: The first twelve hours were some really good tv watchin’.
Hotness: I can’t decide whether to marry David Palmer or Jack Bauer. Which is worse: getting kidnapped and raped, or having to be the First Lady? (ick).
Girlpower: None.
Buffy?: Omg, it’s the Slayer Spike killed! Omg, it’s the policewoman Jack got killed!
Questions: Does Jack Bauer only sleep with stick women, or what?

Season 2

Downside: Plot holes. Kim Bauer running from the police. Kim Bauer running into a cougar. Kim Bauer running (bounce bounce bounce). Kim Bauer anything.
Cool bits: When Jack Bauer was going to fly the plane to dispose of the nuke, because I get turned on by guys who can’t wait to be martyrs. When Jack Bauer told his daughter to shoot the bad guy, then told her to do it again. When Jack Bauer beat up on Sherry Palmer. When Jack Bauer anything. The whole plot arc about trying to prevent the war was kinda awesome.
Hotness: I want David Palmer to be my President. I want that create-a-voice-saying-what-you-want program so I can pretend to have phone sex with Jack. Keifer got nekkid omg. Tony Almeida shaved his lip. Go him!
Girlpower: Michelle Dessler has no personality. The actress who plays Kate Warner cannot act. Kim Bauer . . . let’s not go there. Only Lynne was cool, and she got taken out halfway through. This peeves me.
Buffy?: Tina! Of course you’re going to die. Gavin! How come you’re never interesting? Quentin Travers! Of course you’re evil.
Questions: Was I the only one who had trouble figuring out the positions and ranks of President Palmer’s little stooges? What’s “Division”?
Best Quote Ever: “I’m gonna need a hacksaw.”

Season 3

Downside: Massive plot holes and loose ends. Anything to do with Wayne and Sherry Palmer, Julia and Alan Milliken, and Senator Keeler, but most of all the way they made President Palmer, who was a character I admired and loved, into someone I didn’t like, didn’t respect, and didn’t care a fig for. Also, Jack Bauer not being tortured and not getting naked.
Cool bits: Everyone annoying from S2 getting killed. Jack Bauer shooting Chase Edmunds. Jack Bauer shooting Ryan Chapelle. Jack Bauer shooting Nina Myers. Jack Bauer shooting up (only because Sutherland was so good at the shame and hatred of himself. Have I mentioned that turns me on?)
Hotness: Keifer Sutherland’s voice makes me feel the need to change into fresh undergarmets. The Tony/Michelle stuff was very well done.
Girlpower: They finally got this right! I take back everything I ever said about Michelle Dessler. I think her monumental self-control made her seem a little wooden before, but it’s what made me fall so in love with her now. Her kick assness makes up for a lot of suck S3. Also, Kim Bauer is almost cool. But Chloe O’Brian drives me fucking nuts.
Buffy?: Jasmine/Principal Wood—craziness! Gavin, you’re back and you’re still not interesting. David Nabbit, you will always be a tech guy. Virginia, you’re a hussy.
Questions: Why didn’t they just kill off President Palmer, instead of making him less than he is? What was the significance of Jack Bauer’s Mother Mary tat? Do I need to get more Buffy writers in to show the 24 writers how to get the hottie shirtless every ep?


Which is just my way of saying it was fun, not as good as anything touched by Joss Whedon, and omg I never knew Keifer was so hot.
