Averil's Atonement just sounded so inspiring and romantic!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Some things you just need to get off your head.

1. Faith appears to be working at our Marble Slab, a fact which surprises me only insomuch as she is not in Cleveland--unless there is a Hellmouth in Houston, which on second thought does not surprise me at all. She does not look exactly like Eliza Dushku, more's the pity, but it can be said of her that she tilts her head in a similar manner and her voice is husky. As for disposition, there is no mistaking it; only Faith could say, "every day is better with ice cream" with such bravado--fun, innuendo and a peculiar girlishness packed heavy over "ice cream" like hot fudge, guilt and power-hunger and that same broken childishness in the "every day is better."

Tonight she will stop at that graveyard on Westheimer just past Dairy Ashford and be pissed to find zombies instead of vampires; "as if brains were better than our waffle cups. Oh, come. The fuck. On." Afterwards she will come home to her apartment on Highway 6 (near the Red Lobster) and screw Wood senseless, until he flips her over and makes her gasp something that includes the word "love," which she still rarely says. Then they will curl up and watch Casablanca, which they have watched too many times, and Faith will have a mixing bowl full of ice cream, five scoops all told. "Don't you get enough of that at work?" he'll say. And, because it doesn't get old or over-used or untrue, "Every day is better with ice cream."

2. There are reasons Angel wanted to see Les Miserables. This reason he thought of when he and Buffy were curled up one night, and she would not listen to him when he tried to help her with her history, and she kept playing with the soft, short hairs on the back of his neck, which she didn't know made him hungry: "Yes, childish things, repetitions, laughs about nothing, inutilities, absurdities, all that is deepest and most sublime in the world! the only things which are worth being said and listened to."

And this reason he had in full force when he was in a certain alley, and it was raining, and Spike was dust beside him, and Illyria was falling, Gunn long dead: " To retreat is an act of violence against the human race."

And this is the reason he likes to forget, because pain can be so sweet: "To commit the least possible sin is the law for man. To live without sin is the dream of an angel. Everything terrestrial is subject to sin. Sin is gravitation."

3. Lucius Malfoy and Spike had a one-night stand, during which they discussed the merits of being English, sucking the cocks of meglomanaics who think they're their bitches, and where they buy their bleach. Much later Malfoy met Sark, bent him over a table, and claimed he could never measure up to being evil, English, and platinum blonde, which caused Sark to shave his head and join the ranks of bald villains with smaller cocks, including the Master and Lex Luthor, but only as played by Gene Hackman, because no one is denying Michael Rosenbaum is kind of sexy sometimes.

There. All better.

You saw The Incredibles, right? If not, do, just for the seamstress.

Of course I saw Edith Head in the Incredibles.

"Dahlink, no cape."
