L. Hope no one was trying to fly out of the country today. The news is always so fuckin scary, man.
I. I've been in Austin for a week or so, and will be in Florida next week to help my brother and s-i-l move. So I've been kinda spotty on the lj thing. I've missed some comments, whatnot--I'll be getting back to ya.
N. Did you miss
stoney321's post about the president of a gardening company using its mailing list to encourage bigotry? Did you go to the website for the company to politely (hopefully articulately) protest? Did anyone write Adam/Steve fic? Anyone?
K. Test the Dixie/Yankeeness of your speech. You know y'ant to.
S. This game is freakishly addictive.

rahirah hosted a discussion about plagarism in fanfic, in response to the Cassie Claire thing. Several other people are discussing the same thing--food for thought, I think.
ETA: "The word deadline first appeared as an American coinage that referred to the line around a military prison beyond which soldiers were authorized to shoot escaping prisoners." Think about that next time you're late on a project, MM & Mmes!

Angel/Connor. Warning: contains incest. What the title says, and then what the warning says, with simple, powerful text, spot on characterization, and something a little heartbreaking as well as sexy.

Angel/Spike/Buffy. This piece is mostly light and almost hopeful, but with and undertone of bittersweetness and resignation, almost of despair. Chris hits exactly the right note: these characters can be happy, but they will never quite be content.

Buffy/everyone and your mom. From family to youth to daydreams to love, this fic covers both the unexpected and unavoidable in Buffy's love life.

Buffy/Spike. Even if you have me friended because you're a h0r 4 B/A, read it. It has something new to offer sex scenes, fresh words and ways of saying things that aren't what you get in 'ship fics and romance novels.

Faith/Wesley. This is a really fun bit of almost fluff. The Faith voice is endearing and spot-on, and the progression of the fic is a way to rediscover any kink you might've had for gradual love stories and/or epistlary pieces.

If you haven't been keeping up withastridv and

Totally agree on the y'all.

Or else, I'm just an infernal busybody.
OMG speaking of mail, I've got Mr. A hooked on Anne of GG!!! Yes, that required 3 !'s. Because he claimed that he'd seen it, but now he says he must have seen Anne of Avonlea, and wow is Anne hot.
Yes. The family of
So anyway, I'm having the immense satisfaction of watching him watch Anne for the first time. I know pretty much every line, so I can pay attention to his reactions, and it's awesome. Except he keeps trying to ship Anne and Diana, which is logical but he will be disappointed somewhat.

Anne is totally hot! Omg! Yay! You should read this fic by

Okay yes, Anne is hot, but are we allowed to say so pre-16 or so? Mr. A and I have a joint problem of pointing out hotness of people not old enought to be hot. I mean, I don't think we want to sleep with kids or anything. But you know... people are hot. I can see your love for Diana, though for me personally I like them stick-like and redheaded, so as to be more like myself. Though Diana is a beautiful woman as well.
We were wondering how long we could spend in Anne's company without taping her mouth shut.
Anyway, the shared girlporn is awesomely fun, and about on par with when I showed him Pride and Prejudice and watched him get all het up over Ehle and Firth both. Yum!

The thing about movie!Anne is Megan Follows is around 17 or so. They make her act like a 14 year old, which yes, makes it kinda squicky for people like us to lust after her, but mine eyes see a reasonable age, you know?
Yeah, I think I'd have to lock Anne in a room sometimes for some peace and quiet.
And ha! It's impossible not to ship Lizzy/Darcy, esp. with that movie, I think.

Was she really 17 at the time? I was thinking 15 or so. Hmm, just looked it up. Wow. They did good.
