Questions Post #13

Do you think Wesley looks like Ed Exley, as played by Guy Pearce, in L.A. Confidential?
What's the thing in lj called, where a post looks like a white page with text, with just a few buttons at the top, and can you always get to that in anyone's journals, or is it only some journals?
Where did the term whinging come from?
How bout the term pressies?
Does DB's acting (in say, Bones) still bother people sometimes?
Does anyone wished DB shaved his face closer these days (on Bones)?
Does anyone not think they fucked with Cordy's character in AtS S3? Besides TKDad, I mean?
Do you guys like Andy Hallett?
Do you guys like Stephanie Romanov?
Has anyone written Cordy/loofah? Anyone?
Do you rewatch eps of BtVS/AtS? How do you do it? Do you just pick out one you liked? Pick out a couple you liked? Watch an arc you liked? Fastforward to the good parts? Rewatch a whole season? Rewatch certain parts for fanfic writing purposes?
How do you make katsu don?
Why can't I get a job?
What ep of anything Whedonverse did you not like much at first, but gained respect for later?
Is there one you liked at first but not so much now?
Are there characters you like better in fanfic than on the actual screen?
Why is Kara Thrace such a badass?
How could that AoQ guy finally give a "SUPERLATIVE" (yeah, all caps) rating to my least favorite ep in all 7 seasons of BtVS?
Is there really any episode worse than "Provider"?
Does anyone just think "ARCHIE KENNEDY!!!!" every time they see Lee Adama?
Why does everyone hate Waiting In The Wings?
Am I the only one who doesn't think Angel making goofy faces at baby!Connor was out of character and stupid?
Am I the only one who actually kinda likes Justine (as a character)?
Okay, I'm done.

- BtVS and AtS 1-2 Wesley, yes. Crazy!Wes is much, much hotter.
- No hablo lj-ese
- DB is not a good actor in general. He got better on Angel from shear practice playing the same character.
- Re DB's shadow: see above. I do not watch Bones, because he sucks as an actor
- Poor St. Cordy
- On rewatching: I usually rewatch by season, although I will occassionally pick out a certain episode for research for a fic. I'm sort of sad about how long I've gone without rewatching though. Angel S5 still has the shrink wrap on it
- Characters I like better in fic than onscreen: Dawn and Connor
- Kara's badassitude is a complex and beautiful thing.
- I don't really think when I see Lee Adama, except to acknowledge that Jamie Bamber is a short man who turns me into a puddle of goo beyond all reason
- I disliked Waiting in the Wings because I hated C/A, and I haven't rewatched it since. Now that I've mellowed on C/A, I might like it. *shrug*

And he wears droopy underpants. Booth that is, not DB. I hope.

Seriously, they are called tighty whities for a reason.

I hope DB doesn't wear ANY underpants. Rawr.

Someone needs to make a picture of that screenshot and caption it with "My FBI agent wears droopy drawers." Because that? Would be funny. To me.

Crazy!Wes is much, much hotter. Agree completely.
No hablo lj-ese Nor, apparently, do I!
DB is not a good actor in general. He got better on Angel from shear practice playing the same character. I thought he was pretty bad on BtVS. I thought he got damn good on AtS. I still think he *can* be quite good, but in Bones, he's not as good as I've seen him be and it drives me nuts.
Poor St. Cordy Poor us. Having to watch that done to her.
Angel S5 still has the shrink wrap on it That makes me sad, too.
Characters I like better in fic than onscreen: Dawn and Connor I love Connor onscreen (and not just because VK is so pretty) but I feel that way completely about Dawn.
Kara's badassitude is a complex and beautiful thing. I just started watching BSG! I love it so much!
I disliked Waiting in the Wings because I hated C/A, and I haven't rewatched it since. Now that I've mellowed on C/A, I might like it. *shrug* I dislike they way they handled C/A, not the idea of it. But the C/A in WitW isn't very C/A-y. It's magic spell-y.

Thanks for your answes!

Ah, but I think that the magic spell-y thing was exactly C/A-y in the way they were setting it up. It was kyerumption and destiny and magic to such an extent that neither Cordy or Angel were really aware of it without the push of outside forces. That magic spell was no different than any of the other "special forces" ways they tried to get them together.

The magic spell in Something Blue worked for me because it was clear that Spell!Buffy and Spell!Spike were not themselves and their actions were guided by magic. Waiting in the Wings. . . not so much. Magic C/A was the C/A they were setting up at that point- half the time I honestly couldn't tell if they were possessed or acting as themselves.

Oh. This is why I *liked* it! Because I do think that the way they handled C/A is more about external forces than internal, and because the spell parallels that outside influence. But WitW is about breaking out of those forces. It's about free will. Angel can't get into the universe of the evil dude *until* River (the ballerina, whatever) changes the performance. Sure, Angel's weakened the evil guy's powers, but it's obviously *River* who has to exert her will to change things.

I have meta for this. I should write it before I go off on a tangent. To me, the way they did C/A is about playing roles. WitW is all about roles. And S3 and S4 of AtS? Is about free will, and escaping prophecy/destiny/roles.

I'll be interested to see your meta, although I have a feeling you will have put more thought into it than ME did. I've never gotten the impression, through writer commentary, that there was an arc theme with C/A although it will be great to hear what you've noticed perhaps in spite of authorial intent.

Ha. Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. But I love fanwank that makes things I don't like work for me in a new way.
