The problem with B/anybody is that 'the slayer is alone' and I know Buffy nixed that with her friend and family and all and then went on to share the power with a whole bunch of teeny boppers, but Buffy was the last of her breed - Kendra and Faith were the only one's of their breed.
Yes, Buffy is 'filled with love' and it's 'brighter than the fire' but the love that I believe the FS was talking about was the love for humanity and the desire to protect it.
In conclusion, Buffy/calling OTP with great watchers, family, friends, and lovers as sidekicks only.
Well, this is why I love "Chosen": Buffy has her friends, her family, and most of all she is no longer along any more. But that lost shot is of just her, with an empty road ahead of her, and she's smiling. She'll always have that support network, but I think she'll always make her own way alone. That's what I love about her.
But that doesn't change me from *wanting* her to get a chance to just lay it all down, to make a life for herself, which is why I'm a big smooshy B/Aer at heart. But when I'm realistic about it, I tend to think that Buffy and Angel will always be a part of each other's lives (as will Spike), and that they'll have more happy moments together and more sad moments together, but that in the end, both of them will be smiling at the empty road alone.
According to Fray, the JW future Buvvyverse canon comic, there's no happy future for Buffy. She disappears in a huge fight near Rome, throwing herself on a portal.
OTOH, there's no mention of a Slayer Army, so, who knows just how canon canon is. And this being JW, canon is not very canon at all methinks.
Actually, there's no mention of Rome in Fray. And the slayer who disappears in a huge fight into a portal is never actually identified as being Buffy. And while there's no mention of a Slayer Army, it's said that she may or may not have "supernatural allies."
Wow, that's kind of beautiful. I'd burst into tears but I'm broken inside, so I'll burst into song again. But a wistful sad song.
You're one of the few people I've come across that have managed to get me to go 'ohhhhhhh, so that's why Bangel', you know, that doesn't involve Claddagh Rings, Soulmates, Eeeeeee!

It always gives me a happy when someone can see the B/A light.
