SoM Mood Theme

I have wanted this ever since I got an lj. *points to mood theme*

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] imnotacommittee for directing me to it. It's here if anyone else is interested . . . but somehow I don't see [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue giving up her "full" Xander-in-a-speedo mood, and she's the only one I can think of besides INAC who cares.

BUT IT'S THE SOUND OF MUSIC YOU GUYS AND MARIA AND CAPTAIN VON TRAPP AND OMG I'M JUST SO UNBELIEVABLY HAPPY THAT YES, I DO HAVE TO USE THIS MUCH CAPSLOCK. /the hills are bloody the frak alive.

[identity profile] kita0610.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh dear GOD I hate that movie.

Fod loves it as much as you do.

We fight about this all the time.

Don't say that. doansaythatdoansaythatdoansaythat

GO FOD GO!!!

Kita, with the hills, and the alive, and the Captain, and Maria, and the kidlets, and Friedrich's airplane arms, and nuns, and jam, andandand--

Just, why?

[identity profile] kita0610.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
The fucking NAZIS are coming and they're all with the singing! Austria. Pheh.

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
but, but, climb every mountain.

[identity profile] kita0610.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god. It's like stereo.

Sometimes, Fod breaks out into THE HILLS ARE ALIVE.

Now it's almost Xmas, so I have to deal with Maze's favorite movie too. Do you know how many times I have seen White Fucking Christmas? And I'm a Jew for pete's sake.

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
White Christmas

Oh, I've never seen that. So I won't hop on board with that.

But Fod, she is after my heart. I break out into ALL of it. Really loud, too. I could recite that whole damn movie. It's about, it's about--it's not about the real world. It's about the beauty and bright that lives in your heart. *sniffles* I wrote SoM fanfic, for chrissake.

[identity profile] kita0610.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
I wrote SoM fanfic, for chrissake.

Oh god, I think I bet that you didn't.

I don't have beauty in my heart. My heart is a shriveled walnut with a goldfish and a bear. Like Angel's. I bet he didn't like the SOM either. Or, possibly he sang it in the shower, it could go either way.

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
I . . . might've . . . also . . . written a fic where Spike accuses Angel of being . . . "a right poof who likes to watch nuns prance about singing" . . . and they . . . have an argument about . . . Julie Andrews . . . *coughs really loud*

Yeah, so walnut. I like walnuts.

[identity profile] kita0610.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Walnuts are good.

Some of my best friends are walnuts.

omgwhere'sthatfic

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
I always accuse my BFF of having the heart of a walnut. Because she is cold and unfeeling. And laughs at me when I say the words "Battlestar Galactica".

It's in a really really really freakin' long B/A fic I haven't posted yet. The one where Angel screws everyone and goes to hell. Again. I really need to finish that. I don't know why Angel and Spike suddenly started arguing about musicals. I mean they're gay but they're not that gay. Are they?

[identity profile] kita0610.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
They really really are.
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
And I spose they'd argue over anything.
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Except that's less arguing and more of an outright fisticuffs thing.

[identity profile] kita0610.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Sure. With the winner topping by default, b/c the loser is already on the floor.

And the one on bottom's always convinced he hasn't lost yet 'cause the fucking is round two. And the afterwards snarking, that's round three.

[identity profile] kita0610.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Snarking is indeed all-purpose: foreplay, afterglow. Possibly Probably during.

I am sixteen, going on seventeen, innocent as a rose...

Now my heart is crushed by your shriveled walnut. How can you be my meta queen and not love SOM? Go Fod & Maze, though! SOM *is* LOVE, Kita!

[identity profile] kita0610.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no love, Sue. NO LOVE.

[identity profile] imnotacommittee.livejournal.com 2006-10-20 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It's about, it's about--it's not about the real world. It's about the beauty and bright that lives in your heart.

Brava. Well said and so beautifully true. /sigh/ Now I want to watch this damn movie again.

I wrote SoM fanfic

And some good dang fiction it was, if I say so myself.

Hee! I think I could do a thesis about it. I understand that the threat, the abomination, the utter evil of those times were not portrayed as the very true horror that they were. The Third Reich was treated much more like the big black spider in a fairytale than the flesh and blood atrocities that the Nazis were and committed. I love a movie that shows the terrible reality of those times. I also love a movie that shows the terrible reality, and the light of hope that can live in your heart even in that darkness. But I also love a movie that can show the light of hope, just by itself, and it's just happy and good and pure, because those things can exist. And that lets the viewer herself juxtapose the hope and bright with a story like that against the terrible history of that time, and hope that humanity can find the strength within itself never to sink so low again. It probably will, but to me there need to be some things that're just solidly *good* and happy and hopeful. /omg *cries*

And hee! Thanks. Something Good. I want to write more now. Oh, woe.

[identity profile] imnotacommittee.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
A thesis would be very interesting. Of course I'd love to read it! I believed we once discusses this to a small extent. The Nazis as the big black spider is fitting for TSoM's motif: a fairy tale. The movie isn't really about the Nazis and the Von Trapps' resistance to them. It's about the power of love, family, and hope. It's something that's always mocked because of its cheerfulness and sap, but, when it all comes down to it, we need such a blatantly sunshine of a movie. We need to be perked up. Life is dark and depressing enough as it is; we need escapes.

Write more Something Good? really? Yay!!!

BTW, I'm just curious, did you get a chance to read that filler? I keep meaning to add something to it, but I'm lazy.
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah! *pumps fist*

I haven't read your filler yet . . . I have this bad habit of wanting to find a nice cozy moment to read things I'm excited about and then I end up putting them off! Hopefully this weekend!

[identity profile] imnotacommittee.livejournal.com 2006-10-22 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah! *pumps fist back* Why are we pumping our fists again?

I didn't want to ask about the filler, because it seems rather self indulgent, but I was curious. I want to add one more thing to it, but I'm lazy.

But I have gotten a little further in Klauss 2. Actually, I'm on the chapter before Georg goes to Vienna, and that's when we had our "Stop. Why? Fix it." moment regarding why the family can't wait for G to come home to join in their escape. It's been fun to write so far -torturing Klauss is fun.

But at least Der Bingle is in it.

My mom knew Irving Berlin. Well, she didn't know know him, but she lived across the street on the tennement side and on Christmas, Irv would give pennies to all the poor kids of which my mom was one.
