Questions Post #15
FANDOM/LJ
A. Is there such a thing as an Real Person vid? I remember there was one about JM set to Pretty Fly For A White Guy, but is that...a "done" thing, to make vids about the actors themselves?
B. Is there a lot of Mary Sue RPF? Like Mary Sue meets Mister Actor at a con or something and they get it on? I don't want to read any; I'm just curious. I would think there would be but I've never seen any.
C. What's the deal with pro writers who don't like fanfiction? Where do they get off? I guess I mean that kinda literally.
D. Is there Batman/Gordon fic? Where?
E. How do you feel about...having the general subject of a post in brackets in the subject line? For instance, a post titled, "[meta] Can Soulless Spike Be Redeemed". Do you do that, the "[meta]" part? Have you done it? Have you thought about doing it? When you see other people do it, does it make you feel a certain way? It always makes me think: "I should do that! Then I would have to go back and do that to every post. Dear god, am I really that anal? Is that person as anal as I am? OMG I'M NOT ORGANIZED" *frantic hyperventilating and quick scrolling past the post* Not really, but something like that.
F. Is it just me, or are fics longer in the HP fandom? Is this just because there is *more* fic overall, so more fics-that're-long are available?
G. Um. Will someone rec me, I mean, my friend, some long long long Harry-16-or-older Snape/Harry? NO I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING EITHER.
H. Why am I fannish about Horatio Hornblower? Why am I so in love with Horatio/William Bush? Why do I so often fall for small fandoms in which people have not written nearly enough porn? Why?
BUFFYVERSE
I. What do Eve and Lindsey think to gain by putting the slug thing on Angel in "Soul Purpose"?
J. Why isn't VK is S5? Seriously. Was it a money issue, a people not liking Connor issue, the writers not knowing what to do with Connor issue, or really just for the sake of plot issue?
K. Does the idea of the S8 BtVS comics make anyone else sad? It depresses me and for the life of me I can't figure out why. I would not be upset if there was an S6 of AtS. I mean, I'm glad that there'll be L. more Buffy and that Whedon is doing it, but it feels kinda bittersweet to me, and that makes me feel like I'm being a spoil sport.
M. Can you name all the episodes of AtS and BtVS? If you can't, can you at least recognize all the episode names? If you can't, about how many ep names per season would you say you know? When I first got into this fandom I was shocked by how many people seemed to know the names of eps, but now most of the time when someone says one I know which ep they're talking about.
N. Could the dimension Angel goes to to get Jasmine's name be Quar'toth? The timing doesn't work out, huh?
RANDOM
O. Do you like Rachel Ray?
P. Do you like Oprah?
FIC
Q. How often do you read fanfiction somewhere that is not your home/not somewhere where you usually use your computer? The other day I brought some fanfic to read while I waited for my Granny's hair to get done (I'm her driver.) I was embarrassed 'cause there was porn in some. I usually only read fanfic at home/school.
R. Do you mentally edit other people's fics when you read them?
S. How many days after you post a fic do you feel like the fic probably got most of the fb it's going to recieve?
T. How much do you edit your fic in the post window/Semagic/other client? This is assuming you write your fic in a word processor. Is it just select all, copy, paste, and go? Or is it C&P and then add code? C&P and one last edit? C&P and add header info?
U. How much do you think about the A/N? Do you only think/write it after you finish, or do you sometimes compose it in your head/write it as you write your fic?
V. What does an A/N Mean To You, anyway?
W. Why are forced marriage fics (fics where people get sold into marriage, or have to marry to prevent something stupid, or have to take up a pretense of marriage, etc) so compelling? I ask this as one who reads summaries about forced marriages and sniffs like the arrogant bitch that I am, then turns around and reads them. There are some freaking great ones out there, but I wonder why this plot in itself is so attractive? 'Cause it sounds stupid, and yet I find myself drawn.

Picking a few random ones to answer, because I should really be working on a paper:

It makes me sad, in a way, because I really liked the idea that Buffy's story was kind of . . . not over, but in a place where she could be relatively happy, and now it will probably be revealed that she's horribly traumatized and depressed and people are dying and all kinds of awful Whedon-things. On the other hand, I'm kind of selfishly happy that there will be new material that I can consume at the same time as everyone else, instead of doing the DVD thing and getting spoiled for everything the instant I wander on-line. (No, I'm not bitter that I knew that Buffy would die and that she was in heaven and Tara was going to die and Willow would flay Warren and Spike would die and come back. Not at all :) )

. . . I think I can name all of BtVS in order until mid-S7, but everything blends after Showtime. I can probably name all of AtS S1 in order too. And what I don't know off the top of my head, I can usually recognize. That's a little disturbing, actually.
O. Do you like Rachel Ray?
I only saw her show once, but she referred to "extra-virgin olive oil" as "ee-vee-oh-oh," and ever since then I've kind of disliked her. Does that make me a bad person?

Maybe this is what makes me sad, too.

For some reason, I didn't really care about spoilers. I have difficulty assessing my mood at the time, but I got into Buffyverse fandom almost simultaneously with Buffyverse itself, and it was just so limiting to try to stay spoiler free. I didn't actively search for spoilers, but yeah, knew most of it before it happened. This is the part that I cut 'cause I started talking about which spoilers I knew and didn't know. And I actually managed to not know a big one. Maybe you have too which is why I deleted my first comment and did this one.

I don't think it makes you a bad person, but this is the reason I ask. First time I saw her she drove me nuts and I thought she was the most annoying things on earth. But after I watched her several times I noticed that her meals seemed REALLY good and REALLY easy, so I started making some. After that I watched the show for the recipes, and then I started to find her incredibly endearing. Her stupid EVOO stuff just adds to the charm--she knows she's a goofball and has fun with it instead of trying not to be lame.
Re: OMG DON'T READ YOUR FIRST COMMENT NOTIFICATION
No, it's okay! After I realized I was spoiled for pretty much everything anyway, I stopped caring so that I could read all the amazing-looking post-NFA fic. Plus, TNT's syndication schedule was so weird that I saw NFA before I saw most of S3. So, I haven't seen everything yet, but I still know all the general plot points. You don't have to worry about spoiling me :)

Heh, that's what Big Sis says. She actually claims that she still finds Rachel Ray insanely annoying, but she watches the show religiously and uses the recipes a lot. Maybe eventually she too will succumb to the perkiness that is Rachel Ray?
Re: OMG DON'T READ YOUR FIRST COMMENT NOTIFICATION
Yeah, I watched Rachel Ray for quite a while before the annoyingness turned into endearing cuteness.
