Fics I'd Like To Write

These are not New Years Resolutions. No way I'd be able to write all these fics in a year. Also, no way I'm writing all these fics, period. I love starting fics, thinking about them, filling up that blank page, but I have serious trouble getting through the middles and especially ending them. Usually, the less ideas I have for a fic the more likely I am to write it, because if I've thought about what's going to happen, etc, half the fun is already used up. But because it's New Years, and because I like looking at them,

-Short Darla/Riley porn. Possibly in the universe of Best Souvenir, because I don’t see how else it can be done.

-Short S/A/Nina porn. With metaphors about beasts and bars.

-Short *single perfect tear* Spuffy porn. Because I should be able to write that pairing.

-Short *single perfect tear* A/S porn. Because I should be able to write that pairing.

-Short Xander character sketch. About Xander’s girls. Yes, girls. In some fics, he is straight!

-Short Justine character sketch. I forgot what it was about though. But in my head, it was fancy. Since I can’t remember, let’s just say it’s all about Holtz’s voice. *thud*

-short B/A angst. Character death, Sanshu, magic babies, and IWRY fic cliches. Yay!

-Shot –midlength Buffy gen. In the words of

marenfic on the BBF: “a Buffy gen-fic that has little or nothing to do with who she's screwing (and my ultimate wish is to see her unpaired) and has excellent, balanced characterization. I'd like for it to have lightness to alleviate any angst or darkness. With a good Buffy voice.”

-Short, Dru/Angel/Spike (Buffy) version of “Destiny.” In which Dru forsees Buffy and Angel’s and Spike’s relationships to Buffy while Angel and Spike fight over Dru and fuck Dru. Scary stuff.

-Mid-length fanged four series. Expansion on Down There In The Reeperbahn. FF visit various cities in the world (each fic in the series would be a one-shot set in a different city each time). It would be fun to research the cities at various time periods and try to capture a real sense of place for each. Possibly various cities as seen through various ff characters (for instance, one just-Darla in America in 1600s, one just-Angel after skipping out on Darla in 1900 in China, Dru/Spike in Rome in ‘70s, etc) Though also possibly with a focus on seeing through Dru’s eyes. Also, opium. Also, corsets.

-Don’t know how long B/A post-NFA. With

a2zmom. Because doing anything with her is fun.

-Short/mid-length ensemble piece featuring Willow, Oz, Xander, and Cordy, during the summer after "Becoming." They pick their code names and Xander issues talkies. Oz comes up with cool ideas for attacking things. Missing Buffy is intensely felt and never, ever mentioned.

-Short/mid-length ensemble piece post-NFA. Featuring all characters left post-NFA, with the possible exception of Buffy and Angel. Started out as the different characters talking, gossiping, being interviewed, and stating their opinions on B/A getting together. However, I might take the B/A aspect out, and just write everybody gabbing about everyone else. My favorite part is the Xander/Illyria.

-Short/mid-length A/Wes. That's all I got. I love A/Wes, I just never have ideas about them, because they're so impossible. (-meta on why I think A/Wes is just imposssible.)

-Short/mid-length A/Wes all human AU in Scotland with kilts. Because

entrenous88 created a flesh eating plot bunny with her Scottish Ficathon. No, no, I don't know what is happening to me either.

-Mid-length ensemble porn series. Because we all know everyone and their moms secretly dream of Angel when they fuck. Faith/Lindsey. Lilah/Wesley, Justine. Connor/Cordelia. Possibly Spuffy. That’s all I got so far.

~~-Mid-length Buffy, Angel, Connor, and Dawn 5 Things Fic. Five ways NFA probably didn’t end. This is what I’m working on now, besides BS and AOLIT.~~ FINISHED!

-Midlength S/A (or possibly, S/Aus) dark!porn!fic. In which Angel(us?) teaches and Spike . . . learns. I can’t figure out when to set it, and I despair of being able to write Spike!vioce. I probably can’t pull off what’s in my head for this fic.

-Mid-length ensemble comedy. Make that existential black comedy. Because I Heart Huckabee’s did it first but it was my idea, dammit! Also: mad Wes/Giles sex while arguing Locke’s theory of tabula rasa—possibly with Fred and her Freudian slit. Also, Spike and Gunn beating Xander and Angel at Super Mario Smash Brothers, thus inducing Xander,Angel bonding and possibly Spike/Gunn victory fucking. Or possibly Gunn/bitch!Xander, or S/X, but Angel won’t get any action, because did I mention he’s Liam and thinks Spike’s a psychotic perv (and Spike thinks he’s a repressed twat, and bloody hell, even Angel was more fun)? And I don’t care if Joss thrust Liam into the modern era first, I clap for his (Angel’s, not Joss’s) mental rape, and besides I want him (Liam, not Joss) to obsess over Cordelia’s boobs (though Joss does too, I’m sure of it), while Oz ponders the nature of the self, existence, Immanuel Kant and karmic cycles. Meanwhile Buffy pouts in the corner, tending baby!Connor, while said baby (though redfaced, screaming, and caterwauling) still fills Liam with strange paternal longing.

-Mid-length/long A/S all human AU. With incest. What?

-Mid-length B/A series. Angel’s porny sketchbook. Each picture tells ~~smut~~ a story.

-Mid-length B/A series. Character/‘ship sketches, with a line in each (short) fic from an album I like. Because it would be a challenge.

-Mid-length 5 things fic B/A porn. 5 ways they didn't have sex...yet: 1. Phone sex and/or cybersex. Because I have a fetish. 2. B/A/S. 3. dom!Buffy. 4. A/B/F. 5. Mutual masturbation, because I have another fetish.

-Mid-length B/A porn. Angst. Kink. That’s all I got.

-Long B/A epic-thing. Take on the movie “Groundhog’s day”: the day from IWRY repeats over and over again. (I've already started this fic, here. It's a WIP, which I have shelved until I finish it and can send it to the lovely

a2zmom to beta. It's proving to be a very long fic, so it may be a while.)

-Long B/A epic-thing. Buffy goes back in time. Shut up. I want to write it.

-Long B/A epic-thing. Post-apocalyptic alternate reality, slightly wishversish but also kind of not. More of a “I wish Buffy had been born 20 years later” wishverse. I don’t know about this one. It’s pretty similar to other post-apocalyptic ARs I’ve read—in this fandom and in others.

-Long season 6 rewrite. Whistler doesn’t show Angel Buffy until after Buffy has jumped into Glory’s portal. Angel’s first view of her would be her wandering the streets of Sunnydale directly after her resurrection. I’m afraid it might be too much like Best Souvenir, but at the same time, I’m thinking about keeping the alternate history in Best Souvenir. I.e., Spike and Drusilla would be dead; Darla would be in Sunnydale with a chip. I just don’t know whether I should play in my own universe like that.

Okay, now. Other fandoms. Yes, I write and have written in other fandoms, a-and don't laugh at some of the wack things I've written fanfic for!

-Finish my "Sound of Music" fanfics. Yes, Sound of Music. Yes, me, fluff.

-Finish both my "Ever After" fanfics. Even fluffier. Strangely, I didn't even like the movie all that much. I just love the fairy tale Cinderella to itty bits and pieces.

-Mid-length "Firefly"! Starts directly after "Serenity." It's six chapters, and each chapter a new character has died and a different wacky pairing is having sex. Mostly, just porn. Must include Simon/River, Mal/River, and Jayne slash, because he is so gay.

You should seriously write this one. Cause i've never believed that Angel's pics were all lovely romantic portraits.

Definitely not. All those pics he drew of Darla in that one ep of AtS, when paper was strewn all over the floor? Well, the top layer was rated G. The other 90% of it was X.

What's interesting is I'm not sure he could bring himself to put himself in any of his sketches, especially if drawing Buffy. I thought it would be interesting for him to draw himself really sketchy in the shadows, or just like the outline of a hand touching her, and then not be able to finish it. His own desires would sully the art for him. There was a lot of frustration in his sketchbook, and I bet you could read the story of his life on it had most of them not been burned in "To Shanshu in LA"...Anyway, I want Buffy to look at it and have to read all that, and come to her conclusions about what such lurid drawings mean...because some of them are most certainly not of her.

There was a line or two cut from that ep, which I think you'll find interesting. When Wesley finds Angel drawing, he says something like "What are you doing"? To which Angel replies "Thinking. I like to think with my hands." Wesley looks at the portrait on Angel's lap and makes a "O o" face. He then says, "Sometimes just with the one (hand)?"

So yes. Angel draws Pron. A lot. And I'd love to see your take on that. Man, yes.

Have to watch that ep again (oh, hardship). Can't believe I didn't catch that.

It was one of my first ideas for a fic, I just don't have a ... I dunno, call it a 'hook' yet. I need a special way of putting it together which I just haven't thought of yet. But! The thing I'm writing now has B/A porn, and I mean to write good A/S one day even if writing Spike kills me.

Exactly what I meant. Also, an insight for Buffy into Angel's relationship with Cordy. Also, and insight that Angel is Angelus. There's drawings in there of Spike on his knees, Wesley torn and bleeding, of Darla and Buffy gettin' it on. It's not a pretty place in there.

This is one I really really want to write, and I've had the idea for a long time. I've just been having trouble with how it works as a story. I need a hook or format or some method of putting the pieces together to write anything (that's not a long multi-chaptered epic; I find that easy), and I haven't come up with one for this, yet.

It could work in a sort of crossover format 'Project Paranorma'l vs Harpy's 'Buffy's Diary'

a short introduction piece and then a collection of stand alone works. That way you could also just add to it as you feel inspired and fit in other works around it.

OR! i'm envisageing a website where the format is part of the story, sort of a frontpage with the intro - click through to an interactive graphic - (probably flash) of Angel's floor you can just see the furniture and stuff at the edges and the floor is strewn with pictures, and the pictures link you to the stories. So you click on a graphic and instead of lifting up the picture and making it bigger you get the story come up in front, with little paper edges and stuff.

The general idea was yes, to do a series, each drawing like a self-contained ficlet that you could read separate or all together. Also. I had thought before about drawings to go with each one--drawings that weren't necessarily the drawings described in the ficlets, because I can't really draw porn, but you know, just sketches. I did a sketch of Buffy for it--I don't draw but I was still rather pleased with the result.

Still, I meant something completely different by 'format'; that probably wasn't the right word anyway. My other short completed fics each have a ...I don't know what to call it. All of them are patterns, a way for the writing to mirror the medium to mirror the text. I need to do a post on this some day, and really go into detail, because I'm not explaining very well. But! the hook I'm looking for will come to me one day, and then I will write this piece ;o)

Angel is not interested in Wes in that way (I never saw any evidence) but not only knows about Wes' feelings but is not beyond using them to get Wes to do whatever he wants. Yeah, I see Angel as a complete user in the relationship.

Exactly. The idea there is I just want to write some standard smut. I mean, I want it to be good, but I tend to torture myself by thinking I have to write something brilliant. I want just straight up kink, dammit!

Well, and the reason it doesn't work is because once Angel uses too much or pushes to hard, I don't think Wes would take it. It's easy to write pre-end-of-S3 Wesley as submissive and sissy, but that's obviously not who he was completely. I read an excellent essay, which now I can't find (I think it was on StA) about Wesley as a born leader, about Wesley as NOT a submissive personality.

Anyway, that part of Wes becomes evident at the end of season 3 and through the rest of the series, and it's completely obvious that that Wes won't let Angel push him around at all. And it's only what That Wesley shows up that I think Angel begins to have interest in Wesley. I don't think it's an intensely sexual I-want-you-to-be-my-lover interest, but it's a desperate, longing, I want you to love me and worship me and want me again interest, and I think he'd sacrifice a lot of himself to get it. Wesley was a son figure for him, yet another son figure who he screwed over, but when Wesley saves him from the ocean and feeds him his blood, Wesley becomes a brother figure, and Angel's never had that before. It's something he wants and desperately, desperately needs.

And won't ever get because A/Wes is impossible. Wah!

And let me reiterate how much I loved it. Also, I forgot to say: nursury rhymes. Anyone can sell me on Dru if they use a nursury rhyme well.

I wanted to do a take on "Destiny" with lines Angel and Spike say in canon about or to Buffy applied to Drusilla, but I pretty much already did that with Connor and the Reeperbahn boy in that other fic, so I'd probably just be repeating myself. I like how the lines in canon can be twisted to fit so many things.

Awesome! As I was telling someone else, Reeperbahn was kind of an experiment for me; I just wanted to see if I could do what was in my head. The fact that so many people seemed to appreciate it makes me feel better about inflicting more on the world--though I don't think other pieces in the series would be in quite the same voice, style, etc. Thank god.

Yes. Oh, yes. I forgot what it was called too but it was...wow. It was so, so good. If I could write A/Wes like that I'd lay down and . . . write more fic! And yeah, I haven't read it much either. I really need to beef up my What I've Read So Far list--I'm kinda ashamed.

Thanks. And yeah, I'd like to see me do it too. Those four characters have some of the most distinctive voices in Buffyverse, and since I've never written any of them before, it would be a real challenge.

I know I've seen the time travel thing done, but I try to block it out of my memory because I haven't seen any that are very well-written. It's sad, because I love the basic idea, and I think playing with how Buffy would react to Liam and vice versa could be really interesting.

OMG! You're so mean! Because you write us this list with the disclaimer of "I'm so not going to write all of these" but I really, really want to read the results of all of them. Mean.

I know the feeling though. I have a long list of half-written, slightly-started fics on my computer, most of which I have no intention of going back to because they were more just the mood I was in at the time. That was awhile ago, and I've since been better at only starting fics if I really, really plan on finishing them. Usually. And I never dangled my never-to-be-written plot bunnies lists in front of anyone! :-P

I want to write all of them, but I need something in particular to write a fic--not just an idea, but a kind of inspiration about how to do it, and I have trouble forcing that. I wish I could!

And yeah, I was afraid I was going to be accused of taunting! I don't normally tell people what I'm writing. At all. This is weird for me!

Yeah, I understand. I was teasing. ;) I know it's annoying when you've got the idea all set up and the fic just doesn't come anyway. And at least when we're taunted, we can imagine how the story would have turned out! I actually made a list like this, just for me though, about a year ago and am so glad I never posted it because NOTHING on it will ever, ever be written. And fandom will be happier for that.

First, a note: you should definitely play in your own universe. TBS is a beyond-brilliant fic, and I like the idea of the other variation, with Angel being the one to find recently resurrected Buffy tremendously. I think that there's room in the fandom for both versions.

Second, another note: So what if half the fandom has written "Buffy goes back into the past" fics, and the entire concept is a cliche. The genre of Vampire fiction was so cliched, it was a bloodless running joke, until Anne Rice came along and reinvented it. It was winding down again when Joss got this neat idea the tiny blond girl beating the crap out of the monsters, instead of being a screaming, weeping victim. My point is, that a good writer can take a cliched concept and breathe new life into it. If you have an idea for the topic, feel free to write it. And you are absolutely a great writer.

And, on to the general comment, which would be: I am desperate to read some of the ideas you've posted above, particularly the ones that involve B/A because that's my particular thing, but they all sound good. You may not end up writing all of these, but I hope you end up writing a goodly number. A lot of us will be waiting with bated breath for anything you care to share with us.

What I'm unsure about is whether they wouldn't be very similar. It might be more interesting to keep canon as it is minus Angel--i.e., have Spike and Dru be alive, Spike with the chip and in love with Buffy, and Darla...hmm. Interesting...

Thank you. And, oh definitely, I agree--even if the idea is lame cool things can be done with it. I have ideas I really, really like, and the over all idea was one of my first. Also, writing big long multi-chaptered fics is really what keeps me hooked to the fandom, so I need something to write after the other ones are done ;o)
