Questions Post #15

FANDOM/LJ
A. Is there such a thing as an Real Person vid? I remember there was one about JM set to Pretty Fly For A White Guy, but is that...a "done" thing, to make vids about the actors themselves?
B. Is there a lot of Mary Sue RPF? Like Mary Sue meets Mister Actor at a con or something and they get it on? I don't want to read any; I'm just curious. I would think there would be but I've never seen any.
C. What's the deal with pro writers who don't like fanfiction? Where do they get off? I guess I mean that kinda literally.
D. Is there Batman/Gordon fic? Where?
E. How do you feel about...having the general subject of a post in brackets in the subject line? For instance, a post titled, "[meta] Can Soulless Spike Be Redeemed". Do you do that, the "[meta]" part? Have you done it? Have you thought about doing it? When you see other people do it, does it make you feel a certain way? It always makes me think: "I should do that! Then I would have to go back and do that to every post. Dear god, am I really that anal? Is that person as anal as I am? OMG I'M NOT ORGANIZED" *frantic hyperventilating and quick scrolling past the post* Not really, but something like that.
F. Is it just me, or are fics longer in the HP fandom? Is this just because there is *more* fic overall, so more fics-that're-long are available?
G. Um. Will someone rec me, I mean, my friend, some long long long Harry-16-or-older Snape/Harry? NO I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING EITHER.
H. Why am I fannish about Horatio Hornblower? Why am I so in love with Horatio/William Bush? Why do I so often fall for small fandoms in which people have not written nearly enough porn? Why?

BUFFYVERSE
I. What do Eve and Lindsey think to gain by putting the slug thing on Angel in "Soul Purpose"?
J. Why isn't VK is S5? Seriously. Was it a money issue, a people not liking Connor issue, the writers not knowing what to do with Connor issue, or really just for the sake of plot issue?
K. Does the idea of the S8 BtVS comics make anyone else sad? It depresses me and for the life of me I can't figure out why. I would not be upset if there was an S6 of AtS. I mean, I'm glad that there'll be L. more Buffy and that Whedon is doing it, but it feels kinda bittersweet to me, and that makes me feel like I'm being a spoil sport.
M. Can you name all the episodes of AtS and BtVS? If you can't, can you at least recognize all the episode names? If you can't, about how many ep names per season would you say you know? When I first got into this fandom I was shocked by how many people seemed to know the names of eps, but now most of the time when someone says one I know which ep they're talking about.
N. Could the dimension Angel goes to to get Jasmine's name be Quar'toth? The timing doesn't work out, huh?

RANDOM
O. Do you like Rachel Ray?
P. Do you like Oprah?

FIC
Q. How often do you read fanfiction somewhere that is not your home/not somewhere where you usually use your computer? The other day I brought some fanfic to read while I waited for my Granny's hair to get done (I'm her driver.) I was embarrassed 'cause there was porn in some. I usually only read fanfic at home/school.
R. Do you mentally edit other people's fics when you read them?
S. How many days after you post a fic do you feel like the fic probably got most of the fb it's going to recieve?
T. How much do you edit your fic in the post window/Semagic/other client? This is assuming you write your fic in a word processor. Is it just select all, copy, paste, and go? Or is it C&P and then add code? C&P and one last edit? C&P and add header info?
U. How much do you think about the A/N? Do you only think/write it after you finish, or do you sometimes compose it in your head/write it as you write your fic?
V. What does an A/N Mean To You, anyway?
W. Why are forced marriage fics (fics where people get sold into marriage, or have to marry to prevent something stupid, or have to take up a pretense of marriage, etc) so compelling? I ask this as one who reads summaries about forced marriages and sniffs like the arrogant bitch that I am, then turns around and reads them. There are some freaking great ones out there, but I wonder why this plot in itself is so attractive? 'Cause it sounds stupid, and yet I find myself drawn.

Fandom LJ:

g) Here are my HP Recs, they're not sorted by pairing, sorry (http://brandil.livejournal.com/tag/hp+recs) if you check out [livejournal.com profile] painless_j's user info page you will find themed lists of all sorts, Snape/Harry is one of her favorite pairings and I think she has 5 pages of recs on them alone. Cambiare Podentes would be the one I'd send you to first, it's a slave fic though so it might not be your cuppa.

f) Yes, the fics are a lot longer and I have NO idea why.

Buffyverse:

m) Not off the top of my hand. I can however recognize all the episode names and immediately know what season they're from and possibly the order in which they aired.

Random:

I have no opinion on either.

Fic:
r) Yes.
s) 2

G. Awesome!
I *like* slave fic; it hits a lot of my kinks. I just feel that there are way too many that're badly written, and don't take advantage of the examination of power dynamics (that's the main kink it hits) that the genre lends itself to so well.

F. It makes me sad 'cause I love long fics but am not so much into HP.

Thanks for all your answers!

(Anonymous) 2006-12-01 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Then you should *REALLY* ( I can't emphasize this enough) read Cambiare Podentes. It's novel length, incredibly written, and takes a far deeper look into slavery than any other slave fic I've read. Not to mention, Harry's in his last or next to last year, and he HAS to be enslaved to Snape to save the Wizarding world.

Kinks ahoy!

Yay! Questions!

[E]-- I think it's a great organization tool now that you've mentioned it but I would never notice on someone else's journal. It's weird, but I very very rarely read subject lines. I would never do it because I'm not even organized enough on my journal to add tags or organize all my fic in memories so that people can actually find it. I am bad.

[H]-- [livejournal.com profile] romanticalgirl and [livejournal.com profile] inlovewithnight write HH fic and I'm sure it's quite good based on other fic in fandoms I do read. As an aside, I added HH to my Netflix list because you recommended it (in some post where I was freaking out over Jamie Bamber, I'm sure).

[J]-- I don't know! I disliked Connor very much in 3 and 4, but I loved what they did with him in 5 and would have liked to see much much more of him. I find myself absolutely adoring Connor future fic and there was a time when I wouldn't imagine that to have been possible.

[K]-- You're not the only one. Particularly after seeing some advance panels on EW's site and seeing that Buffy is in a fugly costume. Buffy Summers would *never* wear a fugly costume Joss Whedon- I don't care if she is your creation. Just because you're writing a comic book superhero doesn't mean she needs to have big boobs and a damn costume. <--see rant as to why I'm not sure that I'll buy the comic as canon.

[M]-- Not off the top of my head, but I'd be able to place most by season, and in some semblance of order

[O]-- Yes. She reminds me of a friend of mine. She (RR) seems very real and down-to-earth. And her 30-minute meals show is fine too.

[P]-- The show? No. I don't feel one way or another about the persona, but I do find people who worship her a little weird.

[S]-- 2 days

[T]-- Copy, paste, add header info. I code as I write (didn't used to, but it saves so much time). Then I usually have to hit the edit button at least 2 times to fix little errors that have escaped my attention.

e. I don't read subject lines much either, but for some reason ones organized with brackets *always* catch my eye.

h. Maren! I don't know how much you're into period drama, but this series is awesome. The weirdest thing is I can't say why; it's so...adventurey and swashbuckly, very Dickensonian. But if for nothing else, Jamie Bamber is *so* amusingly different it's funny, and I know how you love him so you're sure to get a ginormous kick out of it.

J. I love Connor at all times. But there's something about post "Home" Connor that is just so *fun*. Before that, he's so tragic he just makes me hurty. Hey, someone recently recced a Buffy/Connor fic you did, I think? I can't wait to read that.

K. I didn't see the costume! Guess I was too depressed to look closely. I'll have to read your rant. I *want* to read the comics, I just don't know if I really wanna think of them as S8.

Thanks for answering!

Well, Archie's floppy hair already makes me want to giggle. I've heard he's very fangirly :)

Hey, someone recently recced a Buffy/Connor fic you did, I think? I can't wait to read that.

Ah, that would be death becomes her I think.

I pick and choose which questions I feel like answering!

All the RPS vids I've seen were made by the same girl. AND THEY ARE AWESOME. Two are Jared/Jensen and the other is this brilliant, over-the-top thing from the point of view of Chad Michael Murray about having lost his Jared to Jensen. Oh, and on You Tube there are a million vids focused on a single actor, using clips from all his/her movies and shows to concentrate the hotness. Though I have seen some slightly more focused or comical ones.

I haven't seen a lot of straight up Mary Sue RPF, notably one on FF.net about JM though, and another Jared/OFC one in the second person. Woah. I have seen other actor/OFC fic that was really not what I'd call Mary Sue fic though.

I frequently see people being more organized than me and having similar flaily moments as you.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the S8 comic. Curious, I think.

I went through a phase of printing out fic and reading it on the bus and stuff sometimes. Haven't done that in awhile. Probably will again.

Um, when I'm reading other people's fic and I see typos, I usually do yes, or sometimes if it's just one or two I'll tell them after my FB. But if I'm trying to do serious structural editing of many, many sentences that is when I am not reading that fic anymore.

The majority of FB tends to come within in 3-4 days I think, except if someone recs you somewhere prominent after that. It's an interesting phenomenon, how people don't tend to FB when they read something after the fact. I have hit counters on some of my fics and some of them get read almost every day and are rarely FB-ed. And maybe they just don't like it but then, um, why would you read through to the end of a longer story. Maybe other people aren't as back button friendly as I am.

I code my stories in Word. Any editing done later is because I was obsessively rereading right after posting and noticing wee things.

Sometimes I think about the A/N while I'm writing but with shorter stories usually, no. The whole header is an advertisement for you fic, basically. So the challenge is to try and make clear-ish what people might be getting if they read it.

Periodically, I get a "thing" for a fandom/pairing that is innocent and wanting and all the fic isn't above a PG13 rating. I *need* for their to be porn, and there is none. Sometimes (i.e. Joan of Arcadia) I write it myself and then wander off. Othertimes I continue to be annoyed. Currently it's Rory/Dean. Don't mock! I have a sideline thing for sweet, "nice" people doing really dirty things in a schmoopy way. Why do people act like if you're like that you aren't also lustful?

D. Is there Batman/Gordon fic? Where?

The DC Fic index community should have some. Not that I recall where it is, exactly. But I've seen it!

I do it because I'm the least organized human on the planet. It's like a lo-jack for my thoughts.

After YEARS of LJ, and being Miss Random Subject Queen, I realized OMG, I couldn't freaking FIND posts I *knew* I'd made. (Seriously, by random, I mean, there was a time when my subjects tended to be "!&--" or some other random characters that meant something at the time [in that example, "bang and dash"] in the code that my brain was using then, but that I can no longer decrypt.)

And I'd go painstakingly through the archives, cranky at myself for thinking "...so, heh. monkeyspice." or something was a descriptive enough subject, always having to search EVERY SINGLE POST in the general timeframe before finding the one little snippet I needed.

Finally, I snapped, and started to add "[Subject]" to my "!!! FLAIL!!!" subject lines for the sake of my sanity.

Dude, totally.

I used to, but they blur now. I'd know it if someone mentioned it.

R. Do you mentally edit other people's fics when you read them?

All the time.

S. How many days after you post a fic do you feel like the fic probably got most of the fb it's going to recieve?

36 hours.

T. How much do you edit your fic in the post window/Semagic/other client? This is assuming you write your fic in a word processor. Is it just select all, copy, paste, and go? Or is it C&P and then add code? C&P and one last edit? C&P and add header info?

Depends on the length. One-off things that have never seen a beta, they get a final edit in the post window, then a C&P into the source file.

U. How much do you think about the A/N? Do you only think/write it after you finish, or do you sometimes compose it in your head/write it as you write your fic?

Usually a last minute thing for posting.

V. What does an A/N Mean To You, anyway?

Annoying Noise. I mean, authors notes. I hate having to write those things.

Tropes deeply embedded in our cultural frame of reference? Some fandoms, Aliens Made Them Do It just doesn't quite work with canon? Over consumption of trashy romances at tender ages (see answer the first).

Man, I love those things.

Hi!

Picking a few random ones to answer, because I should really be working on a paper:

It makes me sad, in a way, because I really liked the idea that Buffy's story was kind of . . . not over, but in a place where she could be relatively happy, and now it will probably be revealed that she's horribly traumatized and depressed and people are dying and all kinds of awful Whedon-things. On the other hand, I'm kind of selfishly happy that there will be new material that I can consume at the same time as everyone else, instead of doing the DVD thing and getting spoiled for everything the instant I wander on-line. (No, I'm not bitter that I knew that Buffy would die and that she was in heaven and Tara was going to die and Willow would flay Warren and Spike would die and come back. Not at all :) )

M. Can you name all the episodes of AtS and BtVS? If you can't, can you at least recognize all the episode names? If you can't, about how many ep names per season would you say you know?

. . . I think I can name all of BtVS in order until mid-S7, but everything blends after Showtime. I can probably name all of AtS S1 in order too. And what I don't know off the top of my head, I can usually recognize. That's a little disturbing, actually.

O. Do you like Rachel Ray?

I only saw her show once, but she referred to "extra-virgin olive oil" as "ee-vee-oh-oh," and ever since then I've kind of disliked her. Does that make me a bad person?

A. Probably, but I don’t care.
B. Absolutely. But I don’t care.
C. I understand exactly how some of them feel, actually (the ones who are squicked by the idea of someone else doing Awful Things to their babies.) The ones like Lee Goldberg are just insane.
D. Probably, but I don’t care.
E. I don’t care.
F. Dunno. And don’t care.
G. No.
H. I don’t know. I care a little, though.

BUFFYVERSE
I. They’re just messing with him, i.e. “Plot? We were supposed to have a plot?”
J. Connor/Cordy was HIDEOUSLY unpopular. Also, cost-cutting.
K. It makes me sad because I have no interest at all in the Slayer School. Joss may be tired of Angel and Spike, but I’m way more interested in what happens to them than in Buffy living la dolce vita in Rome.
M. No, yes, and most.
N. No, it couldn’t, because for all its hellishness, Quor-toth had a breathable atmosphere.

RANDOM
O. Not much.
P. Not much.

FIC
Q. Very seldom.
R. Sometimes
S. Two.
T. Depends on the fic. Short ones, yes, long ones, I’ve already edited the heck out of them and would only do a last look-over for typos.
U. I don’t think about them much. I have a template.
V. A thing at the beginning of the story that turns 90% of the possible readers away.
W. I dislike them intensely, and generally hit the back button as soon as that immortal line "If you don't marry/have sex with/become the slave of X, the universe will implode/demons will inhabit the earth/this puppy will die!" shows up.

Why isn't VK is S5? Seriously. Was it a money issue, a people not liking Connor issue, the writers not knowing what to do with Connor issue, or really just for the sake of plot issue?

This seems to depend a lot on who you ask. VK says that it was partially plot-drive (i.e., adding Spike to the mix stirred things up in interesting ways)and partially driven by the overwhelming hatred of Connor by fans (my words, not his).

Initially, the way things played out was that during the early Spring of....um, JESUS *2003*? Is that right? Ohmygod. Anyways. During the early spring of 2003, there was a lot of talk (again) about how expensive AtS was getting for the WB. Jordan Levin in particular had some kind of bee up his butt about the show or about Whedon or about the show and Whedon. Something. BtVS was wrapping up, and there were a lot of rumors about JM jumping over to AtS after BtVS was over. (You should have seen LJ during that Spring. I think there officially too many wanks to record.)

So, around the end of April, early May, ME started officially leaking info on JM's participation on AtS, to get a feel for fan reaction and so that they could give some numbers to the WB about how much they could expect viewership to increase due to Spike's presence. Spike was initally rumored to be signed up for 12 episodes, and then we heard that JM had said that he wouldn't come on board or anything less than a full season (I don't blame him in the least). I don't know if you were around for this period of time, but the fan reaction towards Spike was the biggest thing I've ever seen in fandom. Jossverse was the biggest fandom in the world (XF was finally waning and HP hadn't hit it huge yet, if memory serves) and Spike was the biggest character in it. Conversely, Connor was almost universally hated and had been since the moment he was born (actually the moment the idea of him was announced, but I digress). Connor-hatred was really the one thing almost everyone could agree on about s4, which is interesting to think about in a post-"Origin" world. It also makes me angry (still) because the end of April/beginning of May corresponded to the last five or so episodes of s4, which is when fan reaction towards Connor started shifting a bit. In the perserve way that fandom can be sometimes, it took Connor revealing that he'd known about Jasmine the whole time to get fans to start trusting him. The whole, Holtz-used-to-tie-me-to-a-tree-and-leave-me-there-to-either-die-or-escape thing seemed to garner some sympathy as well, as did the church scene in "Peace Out." All in all, despite threats of cancellation and wishy-washy feelings about having Spike on the show at all aside, things were looking pretty optimistic. Whedon himself said in a TV Guide article in early May that no one was leaving the show, that rumors of Charisma Carpenter and/or Vincent Kartheiser being fired were wholly unfound. May 8th, "Home" aired. May 12th, they made the announcement that JM was going to become a full member of the show, and CC and VK were out. You're lucky you did not know me during this time. I was INSANE with grief. I left the fandom. I still haven't seen the first ten episode of s5. I still think that Vincent Kartheiser was fired to make financial room for James Marsters. In the perverse way that fandom is somtimes, I enjoy nothing more than writing stories about how these two guys, whose lives almost intersected, and whose success that one year was dependent on the failure of the other, have a lot of buttsex.

The end.

B. Heh, that stuff was the reason I got into my primary fandom (lotrps). I read a bunch of Mary Sue/Orlando Bloom, and it was sooo bad.

O. I cannot stand her. She's too happy. You know those people that are so happy it becomes obnoxious and grating? Yeah.

P. I like Oprah. I have a lot of respect for her, and how much money she has. *G*

Q. I've read fic at work before, which can be a harrowing experience. I work at a bookstore, and the tills are computers with internet access. So, you're continually interrupted by customers wanting to buy books and co-workers wondering what you're reading. O_o

R. If they're bad enough that I feel the need to edit, I hit the back button.

RPVid --The reason I ask is that I have one in my head for VK and wanted to know whether that made me a freak. Guess not.

I went through a phase of printing out fic and reading it on the bus and stuff sometimes. Haven't done that in awhile. Probably will again.

I...brought my laptop on the bus once to read Luke Skywalker fic. I am a woman of strange tastes.

It's an interesting phenomenon, how people don't tend to FB when they read something after the fact.

The only times when I understand this is when the story is on an archive and there's not an easy way to hit, "reply". But if the fic is a few months old on lj, I frankly don't get it.

So the challenge is to try and make clear-ish what people might be getting if they read it.

Yeah. My problem is I have a tendency to want to make mine say, "Uh. Don't read this. You won't like this." For that B/A epic thingy I'm writing, the A/N in my head is, "If you're not really into B/Aer, you won't like this. And if you're really into B/A... you won't like this either." I guess 'cause it's a shipper fic in which Angel fucks everyone and their mom in the middle. How does this happen?

I write it myself and then wander off.

My problem is I *start* to write it and then lose interest, and then later when I come back to it there still isn't any porn in that fandom. My life is hard, yo.

Rory/Dean. Don't mock! I have a sideline thing for sweet, "nice" people doing really dirty things in a schmoopy way. Why do people act like if you're like that you aren't also lustful?

I like Rory/Dean. I think I kinda shipped Rory/Jess when I watched that show but it was because I was so into Luke/Lorelai and I liked the parallels. Anyway, I hate that, too. Sweet n' nice people can be raunchy, too!

I have no doubt whatsoever that VK *and* CC were let go in order to squirrel together the money for Marsters. The numbers for AtS had been down all through Season 4, and the WB pretty much blackmailed ME into bringing Marsters on board for ratings purposes. It was either, "Hire him or the show is cancelled." Yet in true WB cheap-o fashion, it wouldn't cough up the extra dough to implement any of the changes it was demanding. So ME had to get rid of two actors in order to pay for the one that the network was insisting upon.

Of course, ME did everything the network asked for, and the ratings shot up by 20 per cent, and the WB STILL cancelled the fucking show; because they were too cheap to pay the extra money that production companies traditionally demand after a five-year run, when they're officially allowed to syndicate.

Yes, I am bitter.

After YEARS of LJ, and being Miss Random Subject Queen, I realized OMG, I couldn't freaking FIND posts I *knew* I'd made.

I haven't been around years...but I'm having the same difficulty. Actually, I don't know why I so often need to go find old posts of mine, but it's happened enough to where about a month ago, I spazzed and retitled every single post I'd ever made since I got to lj. Now I might need to do it again, with brackets. I...fear myself.

Annoying Noise. I mean, authors notes. I hate having to write those things.

I have a love/hate relationship with them. I hate reading them, get on with the story please. I love writing them, I get to explain what I'm on about. But then writing them becomes a torturous process, because I try to make them short so as not to annoy myself, who hates to read them. I'm...bad at writing short.

Tropes deeply embedded in our cultural frame of reference? Some fandoms, Aliens Made Them Do It just doesn't quite work with canon? Over consumption of trashy romances at tender ages (see answer the first).

I was wondering about the trashy romances. But where did the trashy romances get it? But yeah, it's a circle.

Man, I love those things.

Uusually, I hate myself for loving them.

it's a shipper fic in which Angel fucks everyone and their mom in the middle. How does this happen?

Well, sometimes that happens in life too, you know. Does Buffy fuck other people too?

I kinda shipped Rory/Jess for a bit there too, but god he began to drive me crazy. But also, I started watching the show during mid to late S2 so I hadn't seen the heyday of Rory/Dean. Of course, I am now hopelessly Padalecki-biased. I did like when Jess came back last season though.

Poor Dean, he really got the shaft with how they wrote him off the show. I mean, extratextually I know they did that so Jared could go on SPN (yay!) but as storyline it was kinda bleh. Especially the whole "no, Rory and Lorelei must both end up with blue bloods" thing. And I like Christopher. And I don't mind Logan. But in my head, Dean builds a house *dies from visual* and Rory moves back to Star's Hollow and writes novels and they have a lot of crazy sex and he builds her a desk. Um, hmmmmmm.

OMG DON'T READ YOUR FIRST COMMENT NOTIFICATION

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2006-12-02 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Um. Um? I can't remember whether you've gotten to see all of AtS. In view of the whole spoilers conversation, I edited this comment. I'm a real ditz.

I really liked the idea that Buffy's story was kind of . . . not over, but in a place where she could be relatively happy, and now it will probably be revealed that she's horribly traumatized and depressed and people are dying and all kinds of awful Whedon-things.

Maybe this is what makes me sad, too.

(No, I'm not bitter that I knew that Buffy would die and that she was in heaven and Tara was going to die and Willow would flay Warren and Spike would die and come back. Not at all :)

For some reason, I didn't really care about spoilers. I have difficulty assessing my mood at the time, but I got into Buffyverse fandom almost simultaneously with Buffyverse itself, and it was just so limiting to try to stay spoiler free. I didn't actively search for spoilers, but yeah, knew most of it before it happened. This is the part that I cut 'cause I started talking about which spoilers I knew and didn't know. And I actually managed to not know a big one. Maybe you have too which is why I deleted my first comment and did this one.

I only saw her show once, but she referred to "extra-virgin olive oil" as "ee-vee-oh-oh," and ever since then I've kind of disliked her. Does that make me a bad person?

I don't think it makes you a bad person, but this is the reason I ask. First time I saw her she drove me nuts and I thought she was the most annoying things on earth. But after I watched her several times I noticed that her meals seemed REALLY good and REALLY easy, so I started making some. After that I watched the show for the recipes, and then I started to find her incredibly endearing. Her stupid EVOO stuff just adds to the charm--she knows she's a goofball and has fun with it instead of trying not to be lame.

G. Ah, but someone did!
H. Why?

K. As I understand it, it's not because Whedon is tired of Angel and Spike that he does not continue with them, but because he does not own the characters of AtS. I could be wrong about his motives, though.

V. Ha, why is that?
W. Whenever I see it in the summary I think it's the lamest thing ever...and yet often I end up reading and enjoying anyway. I don't know what's wrong with me either.

I. What do Eve and Lindsey think to gain by putting the slug thing on Angel in "Soul Purpose"?
Defeat of the Senior Partners and bringing Lindsey back from the dead? Oh, wait, that's my fic...

K. Does the idea of the S8 BtVS comics make anyone else sad?
Yes, because for me, a comic book can never, ever have the emotional impact that a TV series or movie can have, or a novel, or even fanfic. I've cried watching TV and movies. I've cried reading novels and fanfic. I've never cried reading a comic book.

M. Can you name all the episodes of AtS and BtVS? If you can't, can you at least recognize all the episode names?
Not all, but probably about half of them. I can name every episode of AtS Season 5. I wonder why that is... *g*

P. Do you like Oprah?
I like the fact that she's a philanthropist and helps out worthy causes. She does good things with her money, and that's admirable. I loathe her as an interviewer. Every single interview she ever does ends up being about herself.

Q. How often do you read fanfiction somewhere that is not your home/not somewhere where you usually use your computer?
Never at work. When I visit the homestead, I read fic on my parents' computer. I think they'd both die of heart attacks if they ever saw the amount of buttsex in the stuff I read. And write. My mother has issues with Teh Gay. It makes me angry. And sad for her.

R. Do you mentally edit other people's fics when you read them?
Oddly enough, I never do... which is completely not what I would expect from me. I usually edit everything, all the time.

S. How many days after you post a fic do you feel like the fic probably got most of the fb it's going to recieve?
Two. Though in the case of my recent B/A fic, I think I was being optimistic. :S

T. How much do you edit your fic in the post window/Semagic/other client?
I don't use a client. I hand-code everything in the "update LJ" window, which is a big pain in the ass. I've recently thought about downloading a client, after my last marathon fic. Which one would you recommend?

U. How much do you think about the A/N?
Only after I'm finished.

V. What does an A/N Mean To You, anyway?
Um... Angel/Nina? *g*

W. Why are forced marriage fics so compelling?
I don't know, but I would pay money to read a convincing Spike/Angel forced marriage fic. :D
