I've been compiling this. Who knows why? And I'd love to see yours.

Some of these, I just think the actor him/herself has a sexy voice, but this is listed according to character because some do different voices for different characters, or get better voices later on in life, and so specific characters come to mind. This was odd to do because I find some accents sexy, and it's difficult for me to separate the voice and accent*--I really wanted to do just voices, here. Also, I love unusual voices, but while some are exceedingly interesting, they're not what I consider sexy--I really wanted to do just sexy, here. I've always found men's voices far more appealing than women's. It's not because I don't love my vagina! I love deep, gravelly voices, unusual voices, and low, smoky female voices (in that order) the most. It was hard to put these in order, so some I'd interchange with others.

*For instance, Lucius Malfoy: Jason Isaacs, in Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets. Is it the accent? Or the voice? Or just the fact that he's a snobbish assholic bastard? Answer on my desk in essay-form by Thursday, kthx.

I'm with you on a bunch of these, but I furiously protest Beth in Little Women. They way her face scrunches up when she says "I'm not afraid..?" I'm sorry, I laugh.

Though OMG I'm so all over Bill Adama. Actually, every time he and Roslin talk to each other. Damn.

I've decided to try to add some of my own. Though I probably won't remember most of them. And I've thought a lot more about this when it comes to singers and sexy voices.

Hawkeye - Alan Alda (I know, so lame! and it is hard to separate the voice from the character in this instance)
Mendoza - dunno the dude, was a character in the old cartoon "Mysterious Cities of Gold"

I tend to like accents, yeah, and vocal hints of snark. So with you I share:
Alan Rickman, Jeremy Irons, Cyrano, Spike, Wolverine, Aragorn (again, might just be character), House, Lector, V, Picard.

Okay first of all, Aragorn? You like Aragorn? But he's so ...manly and heroic.

Someone else mentioned Scully, and I had to confess I'd never seen XFiles so I couldn't say. Someone else said Mr. Darcy, and I wasn't sure which one they meant, but Firth's voice does nothing for me, while the newer one did give me a case of the wibbles. Even if the movie wasn't as good.

I almost put the 9th Doctor. ZOMG the hot. I've only see 4 eps of that Dr Who but I love all of 'em. Did you know Eccleston is on Heroes? Do you watch Heroes? you should. it's good. And Eccleston's character is pretty cool so far.

I love O'Toole's voice for it's shininess but in the end I don't think it's gritty enough for me. I haven't seen the last three of yours.

As for vocal hints of snark--someone mentioned Clark Gable as Rhett Butler had that.

Yeah, the Aragorn is an anomoly. I actually don't like Viggo Mortenson at all, either. But as Aragorn? It works for me. I have no idea.

Keep in mind I'm married to tall, heroic-jawed and handsome. I may protest, but at the end of the way what do I go home to?

As with a lot of these, it's really hard to say it's *just* the voice... but no, I can hear Firth's Darcy in my head right now and I'm a little melty.

And I JUST STARTED watching Heroes, and I love it! Only 3 eps in, and I can't wait for Eccleston. PLEASE tell me he's got that Northern accent! (Hiro is teh bombz)

I do like Clark/Rhett, but he probably wouldn't go on my list.

I don't like Mortensen in anything else, either. But he's a kickass Aragorn. Though if I had to pick a man in those movies to have lots and lots of sex with it'd probably be Faramir.

I'm so glad you like Heroes! I actually didn't like Hiro at first because I thought they tried too hard to make him "cute". BUT OMG HE IS. I love him so! Eccleston's accent sound Scottish to me. or something. Which is like, best ever, in my book.

I can completely understand not liking Claire Danes, actually. She's very idiosyncratic. And every once in a while she does annoy me.

I thought the Meg in that movie was hot.

Almost as hot as Gabriel Byrne OH DEAR LORD HE DOES THINGS TO ME.

I kept thinking about Susan Sarandon's voice, but then I couldn't recall it to my mind so I figured it must not be that amazing.

Few voices are as unsexy to me as Winona Ryder's. I like it, a lot, it's very pretty, but it's like one of those things I think about when I'm trying not to be turned on by like, Holtz or some bad man.

For the record I hate Meg Ryan so much that even if she played Beth I'd say nasty things about her. *plus* I hate her voice.

Yeah, I think my Clarie Danes hatred is exacerbated by Mr. D's love of her. It's totally okay for him to perv over the same people I do; not okay for him to be attracted to people I don't find attractive. Though even he thinks she's funny as Beth.

I think Winona is really cute, and I actually like her in that movie (I must have been smoking the first time I saw it, or something), but yeah she's not got a sexy voice. But you are right about Byrne.

Oh, I have a weird thing for southern women. Like... when Jodie Foster gets a little twang, or Holly Hunter. Weird.

Claire Danes is much more my "type" than most famous women out there these days.

TOTAL HEARTLESS DICKS. But yeah, I can see what you mean, but I always thought it was poignant. *sniffle* Anyway, that's a pretty hard character to play, I think, she's just too sweet. I mean, in a good way. *loves Beth forever*

I thought Ryder was *awesome* as Jo. Some other things she's in I'm just kinda 'eh' or get to annoyed by her voice. But I could not concieve of a more perfect Jo. Katherine Hepburn was too...something. I dunno.

Gabriel Byrne is one of the hottest hots that ever did hot.

I hate southern accents. Except for Crazydiamondsue's. I love Foster though, and quite like Hunter. Their accents don't bother me, but I don't like them. I liked Anna and the King, when Foster had to do an English accent.

Yeah, it'd be difficult to play Beth so I'd like her. Which makes me a heartless bitch, I know, but it'd probably be different in real life, you know? I can afford to be way meaner to fake people.

But conversely, more forgiving to fictional assholes.

Winona had, like, the suitable boyishness for the part. Hepburn, while I love her, hadn't settled down into herself yet. I like her better later--like, Philadelphia Story.

I don't generally like Southern accents. I don't think. But I like those two, maybe because of the soothing sound of their voices already.

The men in LOTR are all very dirty. Any one of them would have to take a bath before I had lots and lots of sex with him. But most of them are hot except I can't stand Boromir.

I think Mr. D and I like Hiro because he's the most like us, in a way. Y'know? I'm told I'll get an "avatar" eventually; we like to cast ourselves in shows, you know? Mr. D is totally Isaac, because they look alike and OMG DEPRESSED ARTIST.

I've never seen Philadelphia Story. I actually liked Hepburn best when she was played by Cate Blanchette. That's wrong, right?

They're hot BECAUSE they're dirty. Well. There're plenty of them I don't find hot. Gandalf, for instance (except his voice), and Saruman, and Boromir's daddy, and Gimli, and Elrond, and all of the hobbits--in fact most everyone in the movie except for Aragorn, Faramir, and Eomer. Oh, and Theoden. He was hot. Should've put his voice on the list. I feel ambivilance for Legolas. If Aragorn had him bent over a table or something, I guess he'd be hot. Oh! Dude, the elf general who dies in the second one, *he's* hot. Why am I going on like this? I have no idea. I should make a survey about the men in LOTR that were hot. I feel ambivalence too, about the women, because Arwen was tremendously hot to me physically, while boring to me characterwise, but Eowen vise versa.

Huh. There isn't anyone I can think of on Heroes I'd cast you as.

Oh, you should totally see The Philadelphia Story! This is why you should live near me, so I can force girly movies on someone and vice versa.

I agree re: hot=dirty. As mentioned, Viggo isn't hot, but Aragorn is. At the same time, IRL they'd be... smelly. Would it be musky man-scent or just rank? Y'know? I thought Legolas was hot, but subsequent Bloom-squee dampens the effect--and not in the good way. I think you've picked out the hot guys. I used to have a think for Elijah Wood. No more.

I couldn't stand Arwen. Mostly because they made her more important than she needed to be, to add some romantic!spice to it, but it just ended up looking like she turned into a horse. Remember that whole pointless Aragorn-falls-off-a-cliff-scene? So Indiana Jones, right? I go back and forth about Liv Tyler anyway; sometimes she pisses me right off.

Eowen rocked; characterwise she became hot.

Elijah Wood is a cutie, but yeah, I don't really see it...Unless someone large is bending him over a table. *ponders, again* ;o)

I actually liked that they made Arwen more important. One of the (many) things I found so difficult about the books is there's only one cool female character (except for that whole beginning section where I thought "Merry" was a girl. I was in 7th grade!) I think it was cleaner, too, because something would be missing in Aragorn's character, I think, without Arwen, but she was such a minor character in the books it was difficult to keep track of who she was. I also think her expanded role helped flesh out a lot of Aragorn's quandries and motivations. I guess the falling off the cliff part was pretty stupid, but it was about faith--her faith in him, Legolas's in Aragorn, Aragorn's in the elves, and Elrond's plea to Galadriel and--it made things much more comprehensible to me, anyway.

Tyler's acting often leaves something to be desired, but I think she's incredibly sexy. Have you seen the movie version of Onegin?

I dunno. But possibly it's because I love it but am afraid of LOTR fandom and fangirls so when someone I actually know starts talking it I get slobber on them.
