Another Prompts Request, Harry/Draco

Pretty much Man's Best Friend was some of the best times I ever had writing. I'm trying to write more for [livejournal.com profile] lynnevitational, but it's definitely going to be late. Anyway, the problem is that I like it so much I'm all serious about it now. I got the prompt from when I asked which fics I would never write. Come on, it was Angel gets a freakin' *puppy*, people; I don't know how to take that seriously (thank you [livejournal.com profile] jgracio). And because I couldn't take it seriously I came up with some stuff I really liked. Thus endeth the whining section of our program.

Now for the requesty part! I don't have that many Harry/Draco friends, but if you read them/like them/know them at all! Here is your place to give me a crack prompt for H/D. It can be as cracktastic as you like! Something you think could never be written! Or no one would want to write! As cracktastic as this! I can't say I'll actually write it, but I need to stop stressing about that Eighth Year fic I want to write and can't because I'm way too serious about it. Only H/D, guys. I feel very bad for all the Buffy people on my friendslist, and even worse for the few of you here for other reasons, but I can't get them off my head.

ETA: I didn't realize this until now. But if you have any crack prompts that could take place at Hogwarts, right after DH, with Harry and co. returning to make up that 7th year--I'd be more likely to do that. Thanks!

And/Or! Go leave your crack prompts at [livejournal.com profile] hd_inspired, here, and maybe other people will pick them up. There needs to be more crack there, people! Do the world a service like a good samaritan.

I'm still working on the drabble prompts. If you want to submit one, please do, just leave the fandom off. Thank you!

We were both wrong. It's Sunday, July 20. WHEW!

On another subject, the CBC is currently doing an American Idol-style search for the next Maria in an upcoming Toronto production of The Sound of Music. Guess who one of the judges is? In the words of one of the producers, "The genetically perfect John Barrowman." I watched him working with the hopefuls as an acting coach, and I kept expecting him to whip out his dick. :D

[identity profile] vaysh11.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Crack is not my strong point, I am warning you. Having said that ...

Adult Harry and Draco are marooned on a small island. There is only rum. Draco has been here before (different kind of Azkaban, if you want) and claims he escaped back then on his own. He tells Harry some silly, unbelievable tale. Together they figure out a way of escape. It can involve huge sea turtles. Or a bonfire lit by the rum. Or Harry (or Draco) being tracked by a spell. There needs not be pirates, but definitely hot, drunk sex in the sand.

And then I want to see this serious eight-year fic you are writing ...
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the Year Eight fic isn't something I'm writing; it's something I want to write. I have all these ideas for it but every time I go to start it I get overwhelmed with by it. But as soon as I started imagining them all as giant slugs and snails protecting Hogwarts under Slughorn?

Gold.

So really I'm looking for crack ideas that I can set in Year Eight so that I can get into it. Man's Best Friend, the fic I mentioned above, is a Buffy fic that has a "serious" premise I always wanted to write. But it was only when someone introduced crack into it that I could approach it and write all the rest. The result is something slightly screwball--it's a vampire learning to take care of a puppy--but it accesses a lot of deeper stuff I wanted to stay and a lot of other stuff is going on.

I love your prompt. I probably won't be able to write it but I love it. I'm going to edit my post though to clarify for crack that could take place for the 7th years from DH repeating their last year at Hogwarts. So if you have any along those lines...

Thanks so much for participating. You're awesomesauce.

[identity profile] vaysh11.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I misunderstood. A crack prompt for eightth year. Hm ... I am thinking about it and might come back to you about it. I'm afraid, post-War Hogwarts isn't just made of crack for me :-/.

Awesomesauce.
*considers it for daily words :-)*

[identity profile] anthimaeria.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Ha, you asked for it! I've been trying to get someone to write this for years! Only if this strikes your fancy, of course: I can come up with something else which isn't a crossover.

Title: Grease Is The (Magic) Word
Summary: Tell me more, tell me more, did you cast the first spell? Tell me more, tell me more, did he hex you as well?

It’s 1959, and the bad boys of Rydell High are captivated by a comely new blond with an adorable foreign accent. But this time around, the object of their affection isn’t Sandy, the perky Australian exchange student.

Yes, due to an unfortunate accident with a malfunctioning Time Turner and a few miscast spells, Draco Malfoy has landed in the world of Grease. It’s up to his boyfriend Harry Potter to rescue him and bring him back to England and the 1990’s before he falls for the oh-so-butch charms of Danny Zuko and his friends.

Will Draco end up in black spandex like Olivia Newton-John in the movie? You decide!

More musical excerpts from, uh, "Muggle Nights": (no requirement to use)

DANNY: Draco Malfoy, slender and blond

DRACO: Danny Zuko - got a big wand

DANNY: Wizard boy, sweet as can be

DRACO: Greasy bloke, panting for me

***

DANNY: He walked by me, he cast a spell

DRACO: Pinched my arse, I said “Go to hell,”
DANNY: Then I said "Ya wanna get blowed?”

DRACO: I turned that git into a toad.

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
You're certifiable. I approve. *stamps your forms*

I probably couldn't pull it off. For one I'd feel the need to be more familiar with Grease and I er, rather dislike that movie. But now that you mention it it'd be awesome to do a fic in which Harry is a greaser and Draco is the Sandy character, like you said. Or have you seen Cry Baby? Gryffindors could be the Greasers and Slytherins the Squares. Or better yet the other way around. Leather jacket!Draco. HAHAHAH. But that's so American, I guess. It could be the mods versus the rockers. DUDE. But with all these rival gangs there would obviously have to be a third crossover element with Westside Story. OMG, so wrong.

Hey, if you come up with anything else, I'm all ears. I edited the original post to ask for crack prompts that could be set right after DH (EWE), where the 7th years have to come back to Hogwarts and for an eight year to make up for what they missed.

Thanks so much for playing!

[identity profile] anthimaeria.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
*blushes*

I didn't realize you were talking about a prompt for hd_inspired! I'll think about it and get back to you.

Who knows, perhaps I'll write the Grease fic myself someday. :)

That imaginary eighth year is so fascinating to me... I was thinking about writing something novel-length set at that time. Harry hasn't gotten back together with Ginny yet, and basically anything could happen.
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I didn't realize it either! Oops. The thing is I want to write that novel-length eighth year thing too. And I can't because I get all angsty about it. But if I approached it like it was crack, I'd probably feel more ...er, free in approaching it. So I'm not necessarily looking for something for hd_inspired, but I *am* looking for something generic that could take place during the "year eight" time frame. I wasn't thinking down that train when I made this post's request, though; all I could think was "CAN HAS CRACK? STAT!" Which the Grease crossover is, and which I thank you for heartily! You should totally write it.

ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
I...don't really see that as crack. That is in fact on my list of stories to approach Seriously And With Care, so you're no help. In fact you're pretty useless; why do I keep you around? (er, joke. Because I <3 you.)

I also want to do a story that focuses on the failed sex lives of the kids post war. Like Ginny fears intimacy due to childhood trauma. Harry's overly aggressive without wanting to be and hates himself for it. Ron has shame issues. Hermione's the sex counsellor who herself can't orgasm (the idea for a fic dealing with everyone's sex problems was shamelessly nabbed from the movie "Short Bus") and I think Draco might like to be hurt too much. It's . . . a twisted story.

Ooh, but you should write that!!!

I wish I could. My brain as ten zillion stories in it. There's this list, see! Plus this is hard, because I'd want to do justice to all the characters, but the shipper in me would probably take over.

[identity profile] grey-hunter.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
Haha. I know, right! I have a doc for my bunnies after I reached 600 I had to start a new one because of the file size. Incidentally, that was also around DH. At least I managed to get rid of some of them by giving them out as prompts. And just for the record, I also have a H/G/D story I wanted to write since February. I wish I wasn't so lazy.
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
You should post those ideas somewhere. Not as prompts. Just as ideas so that people can weep and drool and exude other various bodily fluids over them.

[identity profile] grey-hunter.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, there are some I do intend to write - just fic commitments got a bit much this year... I've posted about 10 or so of them on my LJ but it's in a custom group. I like discussing bunnies but I don't want to reveal the plot - and all the little twists and turns if I intend to write it, right? ;) Do you want to be added to that custom group?
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-06-20 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
I'd love to! But don't feel obligated or anything. I just really like story ideas (am reading ALL the prompts on hd_inspired and loving them) and watching the process from ideas to full fledged fics.

I just assume people aren't going to read my insane scribblings so I have that post listing ideas and edit to add whenever I have a steady batch of new ones hopping on my head.

[identity profile] grey-hunter.livejournal.com 2008-06-20 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
OK, you're in. :) I haven't posted my latest bunny because I might end up writing that for hd_holidays if the recipient's requests fit it. And I'm trying to post bunnies backwards, so if I lose my doc, I'll still have my most important ideas.

yes, the prompts post at hd_inspred is almost like a fest in its own right. :D

And I'll totally read that post, just not now because I have to go to work. :)

Yay!

I might end up writing that for hd_holidays if the recipient's requests fit it
Hee! I was wondering whether I was the only one who had ideas first and then hope fest requests fit them later. It's not like I don't try to write for my person, but the main reason I'm trying to do fests is I have all these ideas and I just can't commit to finishing them.

yes, the prompts post at hd_inspred is almost like a fest in its own right. :D
Yeah, I sorta wish stuff like that happened more often--where everyone's talking and excited and inspiring each other.

And I'll totally read that post, just not now because I have to go to work. :)
Er...I was serious about not really expecting people to read it! That post (and some others for other fandoms) has really just become a placeholder for my ideas/personal notes. But if you wanna read it you can. Parts would probably be incomprehensible and if you're interested you might get spoiled for things I still might write, but I'd be interested to know what someone thought of some of them. So, *shrugs* *waves arms in inexplicable gesticulations*

[identity profile] grey-hunter.livejournal.com 2008-06-21 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
the main reason I'm trying to do fests is I have all these ideas and I just can't commit to finishing them.

For me, it is not. Although, the 'can't commit' part sort of rings true. :P I just have so many ideas archived that I usually start with browsing through my bunnies and seeing if there are ideas that fit my recipient's requests. See, most of my bunnies aren't fully formed fic ideas, and I usually end up combining two or three of them for the fest fic and then I'm happy I was able to get rid of them that way. ^____^ I do always swear to myself when a fic commitment is over that I am going to write on my own, but that somehow never happens.

Oh, you know, I've started reading it when I went to your journal after the reveal of hd_holidays to see who you are, but stopped because, as you said, I didn't want to be spoiled in case you wrote them. But you still didn't and I have a feeling you're like I am in that regard, and need some prodding and poking to start writing any of them. :) Are you going to sign up to hd_hols this year?

Yeah, I sorta wish stuff like that happened more often--where everyone's talking and excited and inspiring each other.

Definitely!
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-06-21 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I do the browse through the ideas thing and then mix and match to do something that fits and get rid of some ideas at the same time, too. I just can't seem to finish fics any other way. I didn't have that problem in other fandoms. I think I'm intimidated by H/D because I don't understand them the way I did my other ships/characters/interests.

I'm signing up for hd_hols but have to do the lottery so I might not get to. I understand why they tightened it up like that but the thought that I might not get to play makes me sad. Are you reserved a spot? Can't remember whether you've done it more than once or not.

[identity profile] grey-hunter.livejournal.com 2008-06-21 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I have a reserved spot. I said in the poll that I would most likely sign up but that I'll decide later. Now, with this new bunny hopping around in my head, I decided that I want to. I hope you get in as well. And for that, I won't read all your plots in that post because you might write one for hd_hols. :D

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-06-21 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you say you're probably going to write for hd_hols! But yeah, if you don't want to get spoiled I wouldn't read that list. But thanks for your interest.

HEE. Thanks. Certainly cracktastic! Though I dunno if I can do it.

I've written one other H/D thing, but it was for hd_inspired and the reveals aren't up yet. I'm really not too happy with that story, but when the reveals come you can look for it if you want. I've written bunches of H/D which are on my hard drive and will never see the light of day because I'm so dissatisfied with it. I posted one of those unfinished things at Hex Files, but I'm really not ready to share it so I wish I hadn't so...if you really want to I bet you could find it but I'm not really handing out the link and I really don't rec it. I've written some other HP fics here and here--they both have Harry and Draco in them but no characters are shippy in them. So, that's it on the me front.

Btw, I've been meaning to do so for a while--hope you don't mind if I friend you. You're pretty snazzy!

I wish I even remembered DH well enough to prompt you. I sort of whizzed through just to get it over with, and I can't recall well enough where everyone ends up. Like, Draco has to make it up, too, right? So he couldn't be in a position of authority over Harry in any way?

As a side note, I love seeing traces of my influence in your LJ. Like the "Short Bus" mention. Does this make me evil?
ext_7189: (Default)

[identity profile] tkp.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
You're totally evil. Duh.

It's unclear whether anyone will have to make up year 7. Draco was at school during DH, but Snape was headmaster and the Carrows were teaching, so everything was kinda crazy. Some fanfic authors use that to say Harry's year mates have to go back. OTOH, some fanfic authors write it so not even Harry has to retake that year--he jumps right into Auror training or whatever else. It's kinda anything goes insofar as what people are doing school-wise afterwards.

[personal profile] my_daroga 2008-06-24 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
See, I was thinking he'd have to go back but be in with all the younger classmen and Draco would have some kind of position he could lord over Harry. But again, I'm coming up blank.
