I used to always watch a movie on Christmas. I couldn't play with my presents because they were always books (YAY) and that was unsocial. And anyway, what are you supposed to do Christmas day, after opening presents and eating cinnamon rolls, I mean? Your whole family is there and you're supposed to be spending time together, but after you eat and play the boardgames and talk (!) you've hit 3 pm and oh em gee, you're still supposed to be spending time together, and you're not on vacation seeing Redwoods or Lake Michigan or The Thing (in Arizona), you're at your house and it's boring!

So . . . any of you watch movies on Christmas day? What movie do you watch? Do you have a tradition? If you don't--are you going to watch one TODAY, and if so what? What have you watched in the past? If not on Christmas day, do you have movies you save for rewatching around Christmas time? Are they It's A Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story? Are they slightly different from the norm? What is your relationship with "Christmas classics"?

If you don't celebrate Christmas--do you watch movies on other holidays? Do you have movies for a certain time of year? For days you're supposed to be spending time with family and it gets really old after the first 8 hours?

Or any movie traditions in general? Movies you watch at a certain time? I used to watch Fight Club before taking a long car trip anywhere, because I can never sleep before trips, and it's about insomnia.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!

Thank you so so much to [livejournal.com profile] ros_fod for the lj virtual gifty, and anon. for the other virtual gifty (who are you, zomg!). I just love that 'cause I never got any before and it's such a surprise to see them whenever I open my user page! And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves for the card, and [livejournal.com profile] imnotacommittee for the card and vampire captain! And thanks a bajillion to [livejournal.com profile] kita0610 for the chocolates--you found the way to my heart (well. The other way is through vampire porn. The other other way is through my superior vena cava. And stuff.)

Um, no one recieved anything seasonal or holiday-y from me. But, if I have your address, please don't think it's weird if you recieve a really random gift in January or February or March. Or anywhen. 'Cause I meant to do some stuff and didn't have time. 'Cause, hey, you know what? I GOT A JOB. Yay me! It's a sucky job because I sit around, but good because I sit around--still don't know if I can go online, but I can write, and read. And that's important to me because professional goals and personal preferences and grad school and also lots and lots of fanfic all involve writing and reading. So, that's what's been up with me!

That, and I got a Claddaugh ring for Christmas. I am SUCH a cheese. You could cover it up by saying, oh, it's a nice piece of jewelry and blah blah blah, but you'd be wrong. The ONLY reason I wanted it because I'm such a sappy B/Aer, and every time I look at it I think of that stupid stupid dock scene and get such a freakin' happy.

Love to you all, and have a fabulous rest of your year.

Hi I'm sort of alive!

So this past week has been pretty crazy. If you posted something chances are I didn't read it, but don't link me to it now 'cause ... I still won't be able to read it.

But I'll be ghosting about, and should be back regularly by next week. Then I can read the rest of the IWRY Marathon stories, reply to emails, read fics, leave fb, and dump wild and crazy meta on you that's been stewing forever, and possibly also that cracktastic Spangel thing.

But for now, lots of family and lots of food and lots of stuff and lots of driving later, I have those strange intersections of family, friends and fandom to share. TKFamily Holiday Hijinks )

Happy Rosh Hashanah, start of Ramadan, and autumnal equinox to any who celebrates any.

Let's see, that's Shana Tova, Ramadan Karim, and, um, happy harvest! Like, a triple whammy.

So, last year I listened while my crazy ex-room-mate prattled on about this show called Buffy The Vampire Slayer. And when we accidentally bumped into each other at the university library, where there are sometimes cockroaches, she said, "Omg, and then she pushed him up against the wall and smacked him a wet one right on the lips, and then the house fell down while they were having sex! OMGSQUEE!" Then I watched "Pangs," and said, "What's the deal with that guy? He's way too old for Muffy. I mean Buffy." And Crazy Ex-Roomate said, "Oh, that's Angel." Then I became DB's stalker and sent him this fanfic where he and I had lots and lots of sex. With this guy I know JM.

So, what else? )

I gush. I'm a gusher. Like those fruit snack things. Mmm, fruit snacks. But really, this past year I was kinda down and out about some stuff, but meeting you guys, reading your fic, hearing your comments about my own fic, mutually gushing, and all that hot sex I've had in my head with DB really made last year great. So, thanks.

ETA: Oh yeah, and Happy New Year! Duh, that was the original point of this post. Hope y'all have as good a year coming up as I did last year. Oh. You will, because there's that musical by Elton John based on Anne Rice coming out this year.
