S. Hotmail doesn't seem to be working for me. I can't get to any of my email. (eta: working now. It was down for hours!)
A. My brain hurts from trying to write too many concepts and not enough plot.
D. I'm at work, I have no laptop, and I can't think.

!. I always have a billion fandom, meta, fic thoughts that I just don't post about because I want to Think Them Out and present them in an orderly fashion, so we can have real, big discussions about them. See S.-D. for why I'm not about to do that.

Instead, I brain-dump all at once.

DAY TWO OF RANDOM METAPALOOZA.

Do you ever feel like you need to write a fic before you can write a fic? I've heard a lot of people say as much and I'm curious about the phenomenon. )

It's time for me to speak up...about meat and milkshakes and mwriting! Look at my malliteration! Go me!

The true meaning of love, cowboy style, is ... not really what's under this cut. )

So, I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] l_aurens and we got to talking about collaborative fics. I always thought it would be interesting to try one (sekrit message to [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom: OMG we have to!) but one thing I'm afraid of is that I'll be too picky and want to take over the whole thing. Anyone else have this fear?

Those of you who have written collabortive fics, how do you do it? One person writes one chapter?--How do you keep track of where the plot is going? (Or are you like, evil to each other, and leave a chapter with a cliff-hanger the next person has to resolve?) One person writes one character?--Then who writes the in-between stuff, and doesn't it feel back-and-forth? Who edits? Do you do it over im? How does that work, anyway?

And how have these experiences worked out for y'all? Did you quit? Did you keep going, dissatisfied, knowing you'd never do it again? Would you do it again? Was it an edifying experience?

And does anyone approach reading cowritten fics differently? Who reads them guessing who wrote what? (*raises hand*)

It's writing month in [livejournal.com profile] tkp's journal, because she likes talking about herself in the third person, and also because it's March and she has a fetish about themed months. Later there will be flowers (edelweiss), my usual monthly questions, hopefully fun discussions about writing and how we do it and how we make it better, interspersed with all the B/A bits I wanted to post in February but didn't get around to.

For now, I'm going to rant about con crit, that never ending debate, and I'm going to put on my bitch hat and my snooty gloves, and say exactly whatever I damn well please.

What constructive criticism means to me. )

On that note, this is completely my take on con crit and what it means to me. It's all about me me me, and I'm not telling a single one of you how to think or act or anything like that. In fact, the reason I'm putting it out there is I'd love to hear more opinions of others' in this never-ending, scintillating debate. You're free to offer up your own opinion. You're also free to debate, or try to change my mind. Just because I'm a cocky stuck-up asshole doesn't mean I'll try to force my opinion on you, or be rude to you, or call your mother a hamster. Really.
